Re: Xenoblade Chronicles

James

I just started this. It's pretty awesome — the graphics are some of the best I've seen on Wii. So sharp! Such beautiful design! Why did nobody tell me earlier how good it is?

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda (3DS eShop / NES)

James

@warioswoods, you just totally nailed it. What a revolutionary concept this was back in 86, long before hint-dropping helpers and GameFAQs. I should play it with that fresh perspective and enjoy it all over again.

Re: Nintendo Download: 19th April 2012 (Europe)

James

@wiiwii In Nintendo's defence it does offer free clips via Eurosport and Nintendo Video, including a Kid Icarus anime and exclusive Shaun the Sheep episodes, and updates with free video pretty much every week

Re: Sing Along to The History of Nintendo

James

@Late Not to mention the creative challenge of writing a good song about the 110+ year history of Nintendo. But hey, if someone else would like to have a go, we'd gladly feature it if it's this good

Re: Donkey Kong Jr. and Sonic Blast Head to Japan 3DS VC

James

So!

Game Gear was called Game Gear in Japan when it launched in 1991, but after its superior power and colour screen made no sizeable impact on the Game Boy's lead, SEGA decided to rebrand it the "Kid's Gear" in 1991. The system is absolutely identical on the inside, but has Virtua Fighter art on it so is infinitely cooler. There were some cutesy titles released for it — a very chibi Panzer Dragoon in particular — that focused on young 'uns.

I'm sure you all remember it was a huge success and SEGA reigned the console market for ever, the end.

Re: Project X Zone Screens Burst Out

James

@Demonic Not sure yet, expecting more details soon.

@grumblebuzz It's a tactical RPG — this just shows the combat. I expect we'll see overworlds/stats/equipment etc. in the near future.

Also, I think the spritework looks awesome — can't wait to see the animation. High on my list for 2012, this one.

Re: The Louvre's 3DS Tour App Detailed in Video Form

James

@metafaniel Possible? Sure it is! I wouldn't say it's likely, but it'd be great if software like this became part of a museum or gallery's wider 'personality' — there are already books on the subject, why not interactive guides too?

Re: Nintendo and The Louvre Team Up

James

The photos themselves are technically in high definition as they're captured at higher than 1280x720p (of course). You can zoom in on them to see the HD detail but no, the 3DS screen is not HD. Bit confusing but there you go

Re: Namco, SEGA and Capcom Reveal Project X Zone

James

Not 100% sure who's developing it yet but Namco's the most vocal of the three companies and apparently pitched the idea to Capcom, so I imagine it's a Namco team. It's being overseen by staff who've worked on Super Robot Wars OG Saga, Mega Man and Phantasy Star Online so it'll probably be OK.

Re: Namco, SEGA and Capcom Reveal Project X Zone

James

@MasterGraveheart As the article says, there'll be more characters confirmed in future

Personally I'll be all over this — Akira's in it, so that's me sold. Hope to bring you guys some scans/screens very soon

Re: Tetris Party Live Disappears from eShop

James

The long and the short of it is: the company's focusing on Facebook Tetris. The DSiWare one didn't sell well enough to make renewing the licence (and server costs) worthwhile, so it's dropped off for now.

The funny part of all this is I've been told the way to show your support for games is to buy them. How we can do that when the games aren't available is anyone's guess...
