I just started this. It's pretty awesome — the graphics are some of the best I've seen on Wii. So sharp! Such beautiful design! Why did nobody tell me earlier how good it is?
@warioswoods, you just totally nailed it. What a revolutionary concept this was back in 86, long before hint-dropping helpers and GameFAQs. I should play it with that fresh perspective and enjoy it all over again.
@wiiwii In Nintendo's defence it does offer free clips via Eurosport and Nintendo Video, including a Kid Icarus anime and exclusive Shaun the Sheep episodes, and updates with free video pretty much every week
There was a problem with the postal service so our copy has taken a bit longer to get to our reviewer than I would have liked. But yes, we will certainly be reviewing it, hopefully within the next week or so
@Late Not to mention the creative challenge of writing a good song about the 110+ year history of Nintendo. But hey, if someone else would like to have a go, we'd gladly feature it if it's this good
@Jamix012 You're right, he doesn't say sequel, just my interpretation of 'really new software' based on LttP. Have edited the story to reflect that now
Game Gear was called Game Gear in Japan when it launched in 1991, but after its superior power and colour screen made no sizeable impact on the Game Boy's lead, SEGA decided to rebrand it the "Kid's Gear" in 1991. The system is absolutely identical on the inside, but has Virtua Fighter art on it so is infinitely cooler. There were some cutesy titles released for it — a very chibi Panzer Dragoon in particular — that focused on young 'uns.
I'm sure you all remember it was a huge success and SEGA reigned the console market for ever, the end.
@pix It'll happen after the GG-exclusive Sonic stuff tails off, my guess. We've got Tails' Skypatrol, Tails' Adventure and Sonic Labyrinth to enjoy first!
@metafaniel Possible? Sure it is! I wouldn't say it's likely, but it'd be great if software like this became part of a museum or gallery's wider 'personality' — there are already books on the subject, why not interactive guides too?
The photos themselves are technically in high definition as they're captured at higher than 1280x720p (of course). You can zoom in on them to see the HD detail but no, the 3DS screen is not HD. Bit confusing but there you go
Not 100% sure who's developing it yet but Namco's the most vocal of the three companies and apparently pitched the idea to Capcom, so I imagine it's a Namco team. It's being overseen by staff who've worked on Super Robot Wars OG Saga, Mega Man and Phantasy Star Online so it'll probably be OK.
The long and the short of it is: the company's focusing on Facebook Tetris. The DSiWare one didn't sell well enough to make renewing the licence (and server costs) worthwhile, so it's dropped off for now.
The funny part of all this is I've been told the way to show your support for games is to buy them. How we can do that when the games aren't available is anyone's guess...

Re: Nicalis Announces 1001 Spikes for Wii U and 3DS eShop
@Mardt That's amazing. Do you want a job writing my captions and taglines? Please say yes.
Re: Nintendo Download: 19th April 2012 (Europe)
@wiiwii Not even Xbox Live and PSN get three to four quality download titles every week. I'd rather have quality over quantity, myself!

@onlyaman No such specifics yet but we'll be hitting up Nicalis for details very soon, don't worry
Re: First Pokémon Black & White 2 Footage Revealed
@Golden-Darkness [dogscratchingitsear.jpg] Saturday is not a "really long time ago." It's part of what most people call a "weekend"
Re: First Pokémon Black & White 2 Footage Revealed
@Denantian I reserve the right to have time off at weekends

I bet this would sound even better if you played it while wearing the Power Glove.

Re: Double Spooky Photo Action Hits Europe on 29th June
@FonistofCruxis getting it 24 hours after Japan is certainly unexpected!

No 60Hz option here, chaps!

@KaiserGX Not particularly, no. Review live in 30 minutes might explain more!

@KaiserGX Action RPG hybrid thing.
Re: Club Nintendo Europe Gives Coins for JRPG Trilogy
@Shadow100 You need Pandora's Tower first

I would use this feature to drive my wife mad while she's watching TV/DVDs. Please make it happen!
Re: Nintendo Download: 12th April 2012 (North America)
This week Vita owners in the US get The Pinball Arcade and a free-to-play puzzle game. The grass isn't always greener!
Though PS3 owners did get Skullgirls, but that's another story.
Re: Nintendo Download: 12th April 2012 (Europe)
Yep
Now updated with block data for 3DS and DSiWare games. You're welcome!
Re: Namco, SEGA and Capcom Reveal Project X Zone
@Mickeymac Going to assume you mean Banpresto, rather than their high fibre alternative Cheers though!
Re: Donkey Kong Jr. and Sonic Blast Head to Japan 3DS VC
So!
Re: Project X Zone Screens Burst Out
@Demonic Not sure yet, expecting more details soon.
@grumblebuzz It's a tactical RPG — this just shows the combat. I expect we'll see overworlds/stats/equipment etc. in the near future.
Also, I think the spritework looks awesome — can't wait to see the animation. High on my list for 2012, this one.
Re: Miyamoto: "Angry Birds Would Have Been Better on DS"
I think Mr Miyamoto is making a joke.
Re: Miyamoto: "Angry Birds Would Have Been Better on DS"
@KaiserGX @ChocoGolfish Can we keep this on-topic please?
Re: Anne's Doll Studio: Gothic Collection
@Donjwolf This description is copy-pasted from Gamebridge's official write-up. You might also notice it says "Sylus" instead of stylus
Re: Miyamoto: "Angry Birds Would Have Been Better on DS"
@Lan Miyamoto's English isn't very good
Re: How Many of These 375 NES Illustrations Can You Recognise?
@Sakeraf over 1,000 were released in Japan, but in North America I think it's nearly 800

Re: Namco, SEGA and Capcom Reveal Project X Zone
@MadAussieBloke Story: Giant rift in the space-time continuum pulling characters together. They have to fight to get out.
Re: Aliens: Colonial Marines Wii U Definitely "Not a Port"
@Mardt I think "port" suggests it's a straight-up translation with few positive changes, which it doesn't sound like this will be. I hope!
Re: Nintendo and The Louvre Team Up

Re: Donkey Kong Jr. and Sonic Blast Head to Japan 3DS VC
Hoping someone queries the Kids' Gear thing so I can dazzle with SEGA knowledge. Don't let me down people!
Re: Vampire's Crystals Co-Op Footage Emerges
@Golden-Darkness Please show me a free WiiWare title This won't be free but I can see it coming in between 500 & 800 Points.
Re: Namco, SEGA and Capcom Reveal Project X Zone
Not 100% sure who's developing it yet but Namco's the most vocal of the three companies and apparently pitched the idea to Capcom, so I imagine it's a Namco team. It's being overseen by staff who've worked on Super Robot Wars OG Saga, Mega Man and Phantasy Star Online so it'll probably be OK.
Re: Namco, SEGA and Capcom Reveal Project X Zone
@MasterGraveheart As the article says, there'll be more characters confirmed in future
Personally I'll be all over this — Akira's in it, so that's me sold. Hope to bring you guys some scans/screens very soon
Re: Capcom: "No Plans for Resident Evil 6 Wii U At This Time"
Why does everyone dislike Capcom at the moment? I don't get it. Did they murder a load of children over Easter?
Re: Nintendo Download: 12th April 2012 (Europe)
Nope, just believe in using the right word for the right purpose is all

@VintageBoy That's like saying Mario and Charlie Chaplin are the same because they both have moustaches.
Re: Nintendo Download: 12th April 2012 (Europe)
@Gavin_Rozee Couldn't disagree more. Compare SSFII to Virtua Fighter and tell me all fighters are the same
Re: Rumour: Wii U Components Cost $180, Will Retail at $300
