Re: Nintendo Live 2024 Tokyo Has Been Cancelled

@Coalescence As someone who's really invested with the community, I completely disagree. The splatoon fandom is very much one of the kindest, most welcoming and diverse gaming communities, especially for an online pvp shooter, which sure sure got their share of interesting fandoms. There's always going to be some toxic individuals, but that's a rare exception, not the rule. I really doubt the community was the cause for this, as far as I know nobody supports these kinds of threats. Granted, maybe the japanese side is very different and I'm just not aware, but I'd be surprised

@Yosher Also yes, please fix screen

Re: Review: Gargoyles Remastered - One For Cult Disney Die-Hards Only

GreenTea

@Kb111 I hope you understand that we're talking about children here. It can be incredibly tough for children to develop self confidence if they're insecure about their relationship to their parent and it's important not to spread negative stereotypes about it. Besides, @samuelvictor was only talking about his experience which most of us can't relate to, this isn't trying to police speech.

Anyways, Gargoyles is indeed a cool show

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Burger Time Deluxe

I actually love the Japanese cover for how unhinged it is. If you had told me this was an 80's McDonald's ad, I would believe you.
It manages to miss the mark so hard it loops back around to being on point. A pure artistic vision

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 11th)

GreenTea

@Classic603 Oh, I was being ironic there, I'm just playing the remaster for the first time. It almost feels like a new game, and if it was, I would ask for a sequel immediately!

I really hope Echoes gets the same treatment as 1. I heard lots of mixed things about it but its fans seem really passionate, so I really want to try it out

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 11th)

Metroid Prime! Still playing through it, and man, it's too good. Why isn't every game like this? Sci-Fi world with amazing worldbuilding, interconnectivity, music, visuals, AND the main character is a hot babe!?😂

I'm taking my time with it, it's worthy of its reputation. If only they made a sequel...

Happy Gaming!

Metroid Prime!!! It's in my hands now! I can touch its glory! (Doesn't smell as good as I hoped though)
Ahem, I'll be diving into it for the first time, and I have successfully canceled all my plans for the occasion, hooray!

And, of course, I guess I'll defend Inkblot in Splatoon 3 if I can detach myself from Metroid for a few consecutive seconds. I mostly played it this morning though, and my Big Run high score is 144. It BETTER be enough for the top 5% this time around!

Also, a message to my fellow members of the Nlife Salmon Run Union:

Horrorboros' weak point is the bomb ball it holds with its mouth. If you can explode it with eggs or weapons before it shoots it, you can deal a TON of damage, sort of like a Steelhead, it's really important, I couldn't defeat it otherwise. You're welcome

Have a primed day!

Re: Talking Point: Which Is Your Favourite 3DS Theme?

GreenTea

The Xenoblade Chronicles theme! Hearing the Monado UI sounds in the menu is so nostalgic, and it uses the title theme, which is unbelievably gorgeous! (Though it's not the full track, sadly) The Mechonis as a background is also great

A+ theme

Re: Countdown: 3DS eShop Spotlight - Fire Emblem Fates

GreenTea

@Nua Completely agree with you. A lot of the pair-up mechanics are rebalanced here but I actually liked the RNG of Awakening. Sure, it was pretty powerful, but also very unreliable, so there was a lot of risk involved.

Honestly I really don't mind Fates, at least for now. I love the Awakening formula of pairing up characters (which doesn't seem to be in any other FE, from what I understand) so I appreciate that we got a very ambitious sequel that gives us more of that.

I'm pretty sure it must have been disappointing back when it released. It seemed more ambitious than Awakening with it's story (Awakening's is classic Fire Emblem, which I like, but it's not the most original) and the games just oozes style but it wasn't as good as it seemed.
Also, having fully rendered 3d maps really makes a difference. It's going to be hard for me to return to Awakening's generic backgrounds after this

And yeah, the reclassing through Heart/Frienship seals seems strange so I haven't bothered with it thus far.

Anyway, I recommend the game overall, but it pales in comparison to Awakening in most aspects, imo.

Re: Countdown: 3DS eShop Spotlight - Fire Emblem Fates

GreenTea

Gosh, I'm actually playing birthright currently, for the first time. Great timing! It's certainly... weird, but man, I adore the game's concept, style, character designs (the artist behind Awakening and Fates is amazing, so glad he came back for this game) and most importantly, gameplay. The hyper-japanese inspired Hoshido and hyper-gothic Nohr are SO cool it's painful.

Though I had my expectations in check, considering the game's reputation, it's surprinsingly fun, and sometimes so-bad-it's-good with its "legally not incest!" romance options. What were they on about??

Re: Review: Persona 3 Portable - A Fine Series Entry, Though One That's Tough To Return To

GreenTea

@Rika_Yoshitake @JokerCK You're probably not wrong, it is very unlikely that the same reviewer finished both games in such a short time, but they could have played the two games in their entirety on their original platforms, and just checked to see if they ran well on the switch before writing their thoughts about the games themselves.

Since they didn't add any new content, I don't think it's necessary to replay two entire games if the reviewer already finished them before sonewhere else

Re: Splatoon 3 To Receive New Update This Week, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

GreenTea

Good patches, I must say! Triple Inkstrike is finally getting buffed, Crab Tank is a little shorter, Sloshing Machine more ink-consuming, that roller exploit that caused lag in Eeltail Alley is finally gone... Yup, that's pretty tight

Oh, and is it just me, or has the Dynamo Roller been significantly buffed? Increasing its range sounds like a pretty big deal, though we'll have to see it in action

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 14th)

GreenTea

Neon White. I finally picked it up in the end of year sales and boy was I missing out!
It's easily one of the most stylish games I've played. Speedrunning FPS in Heaven? Yes please!

I'm getting more into the speedrunning aspect than I expected, so much so that I decided to get Red Aces on all stages (beating the developer's best time). Wish me luck .
Super cool soundtrack by Machine Girl too! I love this game

Happy gaming!

Re: Hands On: Fire Emblem Engage Is Surprisingly Fast-Paced And Delightfully Deep

GreenTea

@johnedwin Oh... well thanks for sharing that! Seeing as that hands-on felt like nothing but unambigious praise for the game this does clarify things, I don't think I'll buy it

@RiasGremory Honestly I agree, it's all a bit too positive, which is okay, maybe the writer really does love the game. The writer actually gave Bayonetta 3 a 10/10, and that game ended up being wildly divisive in the fandom, so... Yeah, pinch of salt

Re: Hands On: Fire Emblem Engage Is Surprisingly Fast-Paced And Delightfully Deep

GreenTea

I'm... intrigued by this game. I've never played a Fire Emblem game before and this seems pretty good. I'm a sucker for "ancient hero reawakened 500 years later" stories but I'm really not sure if it is going to be particularly compelling in this game.
I also like the overall artstyle but man, I cannot get over these character designs, I just don't vibe with them at all.

I'll wait to see the title's overall reception, I want to want to play it
