Re: Soapbox: The Modern Games Industry Has A Hype Problem, And It Needs To Stop

GilbertXI

Ok, so I sort of agree with this, and I sort of don't.

I agree that people need to keep expectations in check, and use their critical thinking skills for once.

But... people have every right to be hyped, I don't see why not. They enjoy it, so they get hyped, I don't know what else to say. They have every right to be happy, sad, disappointed, mad...whatever.

But the problem I see is the constant circle jerk people have when it comes to this. People disregard everyone but themselves, then label it as the general opinion. Splatoon 3 for example

A crap ton of people were hyped beyond **** for that announcement. A lot of people didn't like it. A lot of people don't like splatoon, yada yada vice versa. But the people who don't like splatoon decide their subjective opinion is the one and only determination of quality for the direct. Splatoon 3's announcement wasn't a waste of a "one more thing", it was just something you didn't like. I still fail to understand how some people think this way.

In my opinion, the problem isn't over hyping, it's cynicism.

Re: Nintendo Reveals Splatoon 3, Coming To Switch In 2022

Some of the double standards you all have is genuinely baffling. You all complain about "nothing new", and "it's the same thing" after you lose your lunch to a BOTW 2 trailer with no gameplay, no release date and with a supposed "dark" theme. What actually makes that different from this? I'm actually confused.

Re: Nintendo Direct To Air Tomorrow, Wednesday 17th February

@Nerdtendowastaken Well, there's the FBI, NCA, NIC, any other government intelligence agency charged with monitoring and apprehending people within their borders. I'm not saying it isn't bad and treading weird legal grounds, but I'm just saying the law is there for a reason(whether you agree or not with the law is a different issue), Nintendo taking the law into their own hands wouldn't make too much of a difference. And not buying their products won't hurt Nintendo as much as it will hurt the developers who aren't in charge of those things. What would be better is to raise awareness (which you have been doing, interesting rabbit hole you took me down) instead of boycotting the products.

Re: Poll: What's The Best Kirby Game?

GilbertXI

I never really played or got into kirby whenever I did play them. I played the ones on the SNES online for the switch, but it was so easy, what's the fun in just flying over everything?
And then I realized.

Re: Hideki Kamiya Says Bayonetta 3's Development Is "Going Very Well"

GilbertXI

@Razer I'm kind of torn on what type of development update I like better.

There's the Bayonetta 3 route and the Cyberpunk 2077 route.

In one you have little to no updates, making many people complain and wait for tangible information, but we know that it wasn't completely abandoned at the very least.

And in the other you have drips of info with advertising and such and such, most of the time not honestly(as people are idiots and complain about transparency with game development and then go on and **** on the trailers when it shows the game in its current state as a work in progress, which is exactly what they wanted) so it would sell. This hypes people up, sometimes to astronomical proportions, obviously disappointing many in the process.

I honestly don't know which one I like better; the Bayonetta 3 route is little information in exchange for an honest answer, but the Cyberpunk 2077 route is lots of info but you need a shaker of salt at all times when digesting the news. There are of course numerous exceptions to both of these routes. For instance BOTW 2 was doomed for both of these routes just cause it has the Zelda logo behind it.

Edit: You have a very interesting theory as well. In an interview in 2016 I think, Kamiya stated he had multiple ideas for a theoretical sequel to Bayonetta 2 and interestingly enough a spin-off title. It could be that Astral Chain might have been what became of that supposed spin-off. And also Kamiya was giving these blank updates during the lead-up to release of Astral Chain, so even if it was Bayonetta 3 at some point, it must have diverged only a little bit after the announcement, so it would still be pretty far in I would think anyways.
