@HotGoomba___Rebrand I agree. Such a boring generic Mario game with a horrible art style... Super Luigi U was a bit more fun but I hope it's the last in the New Super Mario Bros series.

There's much better 2D platformers like Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Sonic Mania and Horace among others on Switch. Even the Mario Maker story mode was much more creative and charming!

Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze might be a bit too difficult for that category of gamers.

@Friendly Yeah, but Mario Maker 2 encourages kids to use their imagination, and there are infinitely more levels.

@Bunkerneath there's tons of games that release content years after the games initial release but none of those games ever make it back in any top tens.

GTA 5 is a phenomenon and no recently added content has anything to do with that.

i wonder if Animal Crossing New Horizons is now the best/highest selling Switch game or is close to it?, please Nintendo show the updated sales results of Animal Crossing New Horizons, i want to know, how much Animal Crossing New Horizons sold in the 2020 holiday season.

@Anti-Matter considering the huge enfasis on crafting on the events of Animal Crossing New Horizons, i expect that Pavé will request us to find specific color-coded feathers and craft something for Pavé.

@HotGoomba___Rebrand Every single level in New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe (and Luigi U) is excellent and designed for up to 4 players. You can't really say that about Mario Maker because whose infinite content is all over the place quality-wise.

Super Mario Maker is an interesting twist letting players design levels but it was never going to replace the demand for a polished 2D Mario.

@Dr_Lugae Won't deny that New Super Mario Bros U is (technically) well made, the levels themselves aren't the sole problem.

The game just adds little to the New Super Mario Bros Series, is a lackluster first HD Mario game, is very bland, has little challenge, and most of the levels and music look familiar. It's basically just another New Super Mario Bros Wii. And my problem is that it's full price on Switch. It is included with New Luigi U, which is a way better game, but $60 for an unoriginal game that costs $20 on the Wii U is ridiculous. I would not even be talking about it if it was like $15, $20 on the Switch eShop, but the full price is stupid.

@HotGoomba___Rebrand NSMBU isn't included with New Super Luigi U on WiiU. NSLU was a separate standalone game when purchased for $20.

I agree that it is over priced on switch but I think all of the newer Mario games are too easy. Including odyssey.

@TheFullAndy @gcunit Despite being a big Animal Crossing fan, I found NH to be immensely disappointing, and the other Nintendo games are ports. For the rest of the games on the list, don't users here pretty much every week say the UK has bad taste for liking them, or have fans here suddenly become more open-minded?

Ports don't mean bad games, obviously people in the UK enjoy the other non-Nintendo games which is why they are charting.

What do you think a "good" top 10 games chart would like like for the last week of the year?

@TheFullAndy I was trying to make a joke about people usually saying the UK has bad taste in games. Clearly, I didn't make it well enough.

I think it's an alright list. I'm hoping to get AC: Valhalla soon. My only concern is that I feel it highlights how lacking Nintendo's output has been this year, as there aren't many other Switch games that could have been on the list.
