Re: Review: Mario Golf: World Tour (3DS)

"To be continued..."

I can't wait for the second part of the Mario Golf Review Saga. Until then, wow, I may just buy this. I had no idea that the single-player had so much stuff (challenges? shop? unlockables?) and if the online is compelling then this will be my first ever Mario Golf game. Gonna have to get the demo as soon as I get home from class today!

Re: Nintendo Provides Some Context to 2013's Tomodachi Life Same-Sex Marriage Controversy

Discipledoctor

Personally, I don't support gay marriage, although I'm not about to join a crowd or anything. But that's just that. I don't support it, same as I don't support rampant alcoholism or smoking cigarettes (although that last one is more about health than anything.) I don't hate people because of it, I just don't support it.

Call me a bigot if you must, but I'm more concerned about following my own convictions than I am worried about offending people. And I should hope you're the same way.

Re: Nintendo Provides Some Context to 2013's Tomodachi Life Same-Sex Marriage Controversy

Personally, I think Nintendo made the right choice. As stated earlier, it's not like gay marriage is legal everywhere, so keeping it out of the game means that there's no problem with local laws. On top of that, they'd either just not have to give a couple any children, or set up some way to adopt instead. And of course, this is a Japanese game, so it has no reason to purposely have something to fit America's current political debates.

Re: Feature: Looking Back on the Year of Luigi

Discipledoctor

Well, I certainly had some good times with Luigi things this year, so I'm kind of sad to see it off, even though Luigi has one last hoorah coming in the form of the Luigi game in NES Remix 2. Still though, good job Luigi. It's been a good year.

Now, a month ago I predicted a Direct for today with one last Luigi surprise and then a look ahead to the next year. Please prove me right Nintendo!

Re: Talking Point: New Year Resolutions for Nintendo

I'm honestly just hoping for GBA VC to come soon. All this "moving out" stuff over the past semester has made me have a serious itch for the good old days. Sonic Advance, Megaman Zero, Kirby's Nightmare in Dreamland, Megaman Battle Network...Nintendo, take my dollars.

@Guybrush20X6

So we're already debating society's hot topics from several angles, and you want me to take this burden on as well? Dang it man, I can't handle all this pressure.

Seriously though, I completely forgot to check up on that. I'm gonna go see what the final three look like right now. And by right now, I mean in a few seconds because I can't type this message and look at that at the same time.

Yes, I'm aware that as it stands she's only in a select few sections. My point was that it would be no work at all to make her playable in all of the game, assuming that she plays as basically a recolor of Beck. If all that people wanted was a female character, it's easy enough to do that. Way easier than completely re-designing the main character.

That being said, I have no problem with the woman being on the game's staff. No point lying, I do disagree with her on a lot of points. But I don't let that get in the way. So long as she doesn't have to inject her political beliefs into the game, I won't either. She'll help make it, I'll buy it (well, I already backed it, but you get the point).

@Yorumi

Oh wow, really? I wasn't aware of that. Well, snap. Again, I have no problem with them making Call playable for all stages, or something to that effect, but I can understand the problem with having a lying person there. I'm gonna be honest, even if someone has the same views as I do, I'm never going to support them if they lie about things.

So in this case, yeah, I hope that she doesn't have much influence if she really is lying. I didn't back this game to have someone potentially trying to change the details on me.

Also, while I was typing this, @Guybrush20X6's comment popped up. Best profile picture ever. I'm still waiting on Level 10 of that game...it's only been what, 8 or 9 years now?

Re: Mighty No. 9 Studio Comcept Facing Fan Backlash Over Community Manager Appointment

So I read the first couple dozen posts and then had to stop reading. This is just dumb. Who cares if she's for or against LGBT rights? Who cares if she's a feminist or not? I may have views that strongly disagree with her's, and I may have views that are the same as her's. Why is that worth arguing about? You're not going to make someone pro- or anti-LGBT (or feminism, or whatever else) over the Internet, so can't we just have an excited talk about the game?

Re: Talking Point: Miiverse Can Promote System Unity And Serve As A Powerful Wii U Advertisement

Discipledoctor

I love MiiVerse, it's fun to post and share progress throughout different games. That being said, it'd be really nice if they'd just get those older 3DS game communities out. I re-bought Kid Icarus in excitement for MiiVerse and I'm not opening it till it gets a community. I saw they updated Japan with some more, so hopefully America and Europe can get that same treatment by week's end.

Re: Extended Nintendo Network System Maintenance Scheduled for 9th December

Discipledoctor

It's happening! Hopefully we see MiiVerse on 3DS out of this. Right now I don't think we have enough information to go either way, so I'm just going to sit here and hope that it does come.

Have they said anything about which games will have communities? I've been waiting to play Kirby & The Amazing Mirror again and figured I'd wait til MiiVerse comes, but if it doesn't have a community then that kind of ruins the point.

Re: Nintendo Direct Broadcast Confirmed for 13th November

Discipledoctor

Here's what I'm guessing, which I feel is fairly realistic:

LoZ: LBW
Professor Layton & The Azran Legacy
MAYBE PLvAA
Mario Party: Island Tour
Bravely Default
A couple of new announcements for next year
A sizzle reel of upcoming 3DSWare games
3DS System Update info
And maybe, maybe, GBA VC for Wii U as a end of Direct surprise (I mean really, how many Directs haven't had a surprise at the end?)

Anyway, my point is that I really only expect info on announced 3DS games (gee, I wonder why?) and then update info and maybe a surprise at the end. 35 minutes, tops.

Re: Review: Rune Factory 4 (3DS)

@NlmH

It definitely is. This game gives you tutorial after tutorial about the game's mechanics, so you'll definitely be good to go. I would definitely pick this one up if I were you,or if you were looking to save money, RF3 is amazing as well.

Re: Nintendo Direct: Wii U And 3DS Broadcast Coming Tomorrow

Discipledoctor

I understand where you guys are coming from, but remember that 3DS Direct that had some Wii U info? Or the Wii Fit Direct that showed Wii Sports Club? It wouldn't be the first time they showed something that wasn't mentioned in the press release.

That said, if I'm wrong and you two are right then I will be forced to eat crow. Literally, perhaps.

Re: Soapbox: Why Grand Theft Auto V Isn't For Me

Discipledoctor

Articles like this are exactly why I read this site over all others. Thanks a ton for this article, I fully agree with it. I'm 18 and only a Junior in college, but man, I'm not about to play this kind of stuff. Maybe I'm a bit too in to my games or something, but this is about more than just pixels to me. I'd never pull the crap in real life that these characters do, so why would I enjoy playing it? It's like a show of what's in your heart.
