I could care less about all the cries of "it's not a good game" and "THAT'S NOT SAMUS!1!one!", because at the end of the day I loved it and it's the best game I've played this year.
Metroid isn't as mainstream a franchise as Mario and Zelda, too, so I don't expect it to sell too well, especially since this one wasn't working with the FPS mechanic that the Metroid Prime trilogy had (which I expect is the reason why the games got so huge in the first place). Not that I'm looking down on the trilogy for that, because I love it as well, but a majority of the more recent "fans" of Metroid have probably never played any of the games outside of Retro Studio's trilogy.
Also, anyone crying that the Samus in Other M isn't Samus obviously didn't know jack about her character in the first place...
Now this is what I'm talking about, if GoldenEye's special edition Gold CC Pro bundle had been the same price as the game on its own (or maybe just $10 more), I would've definitely jumped on it. This'll have to wait until I have some more money, though, because the $50 I have left is going toward DKC Returns...
I agree with the score so far, but I have a feeling it'll increase for me once my brother, best friend and I actually give the split-screen a good workout...
Include the level editor that the PC version is getting and maybe a nice cache of extra characters and I'd buy the hell out of that retail version; making the retail version the superior version would be the way to go. And, as Zach said, I love owning physical products (plus, it would mark the first WiiWare game I'm interested in that I'd actually be able to buy!)...
My brother and I liked the Nazi Zombies mode in the 360 version of World at War, and my brother wanted to pick it up for the Wii (despite the lack of that mode), maybe now he'll consider this one instead...
Man, that controller looks pretty awesome, especially due to the fact that you can't even find a regular CC in stores anymore, they were all replaced by the Pro once it released. I must say, if this makes it over to the US, I might just have to pick it up, despite not being a Sonic fan. Glad to see that this one is cheaper than the GoldenEye bundle, whose price point I wasn't fond of. (Paying full price for the controller, just for a gold coat of paint? No, thanks.)
Also, I agree with the "down with handles" group...
I never did own my own NES (still don't), but it was my first console experience and reading this article brings back a lot of memories and a lot of nostalgia. The cartridge era was a simpler time, but--in my opinion--a better time. Back then you could lend out your games more freely without having to worry about your friends returning your previously-immaculate discs to you all scratched up. That era was more about love of games, and not petty console "wars" and inane arguments about graphics...
I've been curious about this game ever since I read about it in an old Nintendo Power issue; I'll be keeping my eye for it...
"Recently, we had the opportunity to speak with Bryan Jury, Creative Director at Epicenter Studios, as well a[s] get our hands on what he told us are some of the first screen shots of the game to surface since February." You forgot that 's' there, bud...
After mulling it over a bit, I think I'd give this a shot if I ever saw it at my local Redbox. It'd be especially good for demoing Batman, Spider-Man, NBA Jam and Prince of Persia (and any further games added to the list I'm interested in)...
I love the Mario-themed ones, but I think I'll hold on to my points just in case we get the Super Famicom CC further down the line (or a Metroid poster series)...
