Rare today has nothing to do with what Rare once was: everybody's gone. Now, buying the franchises back for Virtual Console releases would be a different matter.
@unrandomsam "The Wii and 3DS Mario Karts are a complete waste of time. (The Namco ones were ok). Don't know about the gamecube one the N64 and SNES ones were more reasonable."
Oh no you didn't... I just... I have heard BS in this lifetime but, no NOBODY comes around saying Mario Kart 7 is a waste of time (nor 30M-unit-sold Mario Kart Wii).
So they don't localize the game is European languages, they don't make physical copies of it, they try to squeeze money out of it through costumes... Costumes... Pfff...
This is the first big Ace Attorney on the 3DS, just like Pokémon X/Y, and more so just like Fire Emblem: Awakening. This is Capcom's opportunity to change the game's status from niche to mainstream and they retain it to the really REALLY hardcore fans (like me) who will buy it download only, even if they grew up with Benjamin Hunter and Dick Tektiv (Edgeworth and Gumshoe's names in French).
This is deffinitely the last Ace Attorney we will see here in the West, I tell you. You know what? They should have just released it only for Japan, make a blockbuster success over there, and then partner with Nintendo, just like Square Enix does for Bravely Default, to get the game in the West one year or so later.
And that's the company that fired the ONE guy that truly wanted to bring this game properly to the West... Capcom... :/
I don't know if I should but, here are all of my thoughts on a Wii U F-Zero that I wrote already six months ago: a new boost system, a new life bar system... If any of you is interested, even those who don't know the series that much since I made sure to explain it thoroughly, I hope you'll be able to tell me what you think:
@Joshers744 I see I'm not the only one who played this game seriously. Chapter 7 was in Very Hard was one of the hardest, you just could NOT win unless you managed to take out Black Shadow right at the beginning. And even then Blood Falcon was a fierce opponent.
The best for me was Chapter 8 against Deathborn: drifting and boosting the hell out of that lava road, strafing left and right to reduce damage to a minimum...
It's the best racing game ever, period. There is no point to even consider arguing.
@Samurai_Goroh As a HUGE fan I need to support you right here, Goroh. This franchise is one that has done nothing but evolving. Anybody willing to prove this wrong needs me to teach him a thing or two about this outstanding series.
Currently reading the article and no. For real, no. And that's from someone who used to finish every F-ZERO GX cup in Master just to get every character's ending video.
Sure, but what this game needs first and foremost is an update. A friend of mine downloaded it here in Europe (no retail, no resale value), and told me the game have some dramatic framerate issues, which I don't believe should be acceptable for a fighting game.
Though yeah, for some games I tend to see that as a "dramatic effect."
I think here is the original source, it's seven bits of interviews from Shigesato Itoi (the man behind Earthbound actually), with Nintendo and Miyamoto. Anybody knows who could be able to translate it?
I came by looking for the SCII HD Wii U petition but in the end, reminded by Earthbound (which I SHOULD be playing right now) on the good side of things and Rayman Legends on the bad side, I think I have learned that the only party Nintendo fans should petition to is Nintendo.
@Aviator and @URAmk2 Please, search for the Nintendo Direct where Iwata specifically showed comments posted on Miiverse of fans yearning for Earthbound on the Japanese MOTHER2 community. Now if you want to talk about the way Nintendo found this to be a plausible business decision to release the game, do so without denying what I believe you should have known on what would be supposed to be a Nintendo news website.
When Thomas wrote the "Nintendo needs EA" article (right before EA announced their new "unprecedented" partnership with XBox), I was the first to say Nintendo doesn't NEED 3rd-parties per se and I was strongly flamed.
Now that NL editorial director Damien McFerran seems to be sharing my viewpoint — in a more diplomatic manner, obviously — I think Miiverse is getting some serious competition again for my Nintendo worshipping time.
But seriously, I would advice article writers, especially regarding Nintendo, to make sure they believe their articles would stand the test of time before writing.
Just started reading, and read the reference to Sega Soccer Slam... WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's a game I geeked with my best friend back then when I was out of the country, I swear it was just some awesome good times.
@WiiURockz I read your article, very interesting. On PS4, 3. Buying games through your smartphone is something Nintendo is also planning through Miiverse, and I would be surprised if we see this on Wii U before the PS4 and XBoxOne launches. (+typo now instead of "not": "but it's NOT something that hasn't been done already.") I'm gonna say this again before June 11, and I'm especially talking to Nintendo fans: don't be surprised this Holiday season if first-party Wii U games have better graphics than third-party PS4One games. I got that next-gen Need For Speed on my Wii U, that Forza whather on One can't lie to me.
I don't get my regular news from this website anymore and I understand that Nintendo news are scarce since Nintendo keeps its secret tighly locked... But may I ask an explanation on why we have Microsoft news on NintendoLife? Doesn't NLife Ltd have a sister site (Pure Xbox) for that, or maybe that site isn't has successful as NintendoLife to generate comments within expectations? I can't believe my favorite troll from back in the days was actually right...
@moroboshi ... Like I said, I'll just wait and let Nintendo's first-party games prove you wrong, and I'll wait for you around on Smash U.
Then we'll see whose bubble got burst and who's been foolish and naive.
@K1LLEGAL OK. I used to go at a friend's house and see him play Ratchet and Clank on the PlayStation. The game seemed nice and I'm quite sure it was, but given time and money I'd prefer to invest in Ocarina of Time anytime: I'd rather stick with the best. I think our argument is based on a cross-misunderstanding, mine which you've outlined and which I thank you for allowing me to acknowledge it. On the other side, I believe we Nintendo fans are more concerned about the attitude the developers of good games such like Ratch and Clank and probably Metro Last Light and Saints Row 4 have against the Nintendo audience. Therefore, what we are slamming are not the games per se but the developers and the way that they treat us. Now imagine for a second that the Wii U turns out to be a success. Imagine that Nintendo's upcoming releases prove that the Wii U is, in fact, a lot more powerful than "current-gen" consoles. Now, since the console becomes profitable, Insomniac and the likes of 4A try to look a little more at the hardware and to understand how Nintendo came up with such feats like Pikmin 3 on a "last-gen" console, they find out, and they bring their games to the Wii U. Since they'll have to promote the release of their games on the Wii U, they'd be singing a different tune, talking about Wii U possibilities and forgetting all the BS that had been saying the past months, since Nintendo and these developers themselves, with their own games, would have proven that "last/current/next-gen" mambo jumbo to be wrong. Now, when that happens — "if" that happen, for the doomsayers --... do you seriously see me buying these third-party games at launch? Do you see me buying the game of somebody who spread BS about my system, only to be all smiles when they saw I had money? And quite franky do you see my buy their games at launch when I'd be crawling under high quality Nintendo games, and when I know third-party games are always half-priced a few months after their release?
@Royalblues So why should we be mad that their games aren't coming to the Wii U, if they just CAN'T come to the Wii U for agreement reasons. Why the f*** the Insomniac dude needs to speak his mind harshly on a console he just CANNOT work on? What I am mad about is at the misperception he is promoting against the Wii U, which given the way he stands seems quite intentional.
@K1LLEGAL Maybe some people don't quite have the time and money to invest in more than one company, so they might as well stick with the best. Maybe some people don't want to support the companies that fuel the fire against the company they prefer. And maybe some people just do not like the way this industry is going outside of what Nintendo is producing and fostering. That might as well be me.
@XCWarrior Just like I've been saying for a while to not be surprised if first-party Wii U games this holiday season look more beautiful than PS4 third-party launch titles. I mean folks, E3 is here soon, we'll have our games details and our games soon on our platform, we ALL KNOW that if Nintendo can release just five first-party games the likes of Mario and Zelda by this holiday season, and five in the six months afterwards making 10 HD Nintendo-quality games, even the biggest hater will buy the Wii U to play Smash and Zelda. Too bad I'll be there online to teach him a thing or two about Smashing.
@Royalblues What was I saying... You need to understand, Ratchet and Clank has never been on any Nintendo consoles, and I don't remember us begging for their games. If and only if their games would find their way eventually to the Wii U, what the dude said is a really, really bad start.
@bunnyking You're fundamentally correct. And I think this is really sad. It used to be fun hanging around here, Nintendo-fun: now it just isn't anymore. The only way I find to have some fun is to troll the trolls that have been brought to this community.
