You know, I've been reading this kinda stuff for a while and I have to admit, it did catch my attention. In the last six months or so, I have heard about developers and games I couldn't care less before: Metro Last Light, Dead Island Riptide, Saints Row 4, just to name a few. (I think the last one was a random developer letting his thousand-dollar dev kit collecting dust.) Matter of fact, I STILL do not care.
It really sucks not being able to see in 3D, with all the camera movement it seems clear the game is way more stunning on the 3DS than it is on this video...
@banacheck Apparently EA wouldn't have the humility to ask for that help... And that's sad because when ("if" for the doomsayers) the Wii U becomes a success and EA comes around to ask that help, Nintendo will not be too please to give it to them.
@banacheck I quite think @Rief's example I've just read proved that they actually reach the developers that care enough to ask for some info, doesn't it? Nintendo just doesn't have any incentive in doing the kind of babysitting this developer seems to expect, since they know that it is their own games that sell their systems.
@Rief That's a really nice story to hear. I sent an e-mail to the guy that made Electric Man 2 about if he could port it to the Wii U and he said he would look into it. I think I'm gonna tell him what happened to you so that he can easily get started.
@banacheck When you're hard that work actually making games, when you're hard at work making sure they'll give your customers the satisfaction they deserve, when your hard at work already encouraging your own developers to make games in an industry that gives them a bad rep and a hard time... If Sony is so open to major third-party developers, maybe it's because they know their platforms have next to no worth without them.
@bunnyking How about any developers who doesn't make an effort to run those engine on the Wii U shouldn't be worth the time of Wii U owners? And on which platform do you think you're gonna play that X? Yet then you'll be surprised when those developers start moving their arses.
Sigh... We gon' see when the real games are here if it's all about third-parties again. A Nintendo fan website should know better than that. Or had anybody here seriously bought any Nintendo console whatsoever specifically to play what they could play on a competitor's platform?!?!?! (I can't believe I've become a troll around here, this is really sad.)
Honestly, with the experience I have had since launch with third-party games on the Wii U, I hope third-parties won't blame Nintendo fans for not buying their games in the future when Nintendo starts bringing what's real. What goes around comes back around. Just saying.
@MrWalkieTalkie This is what I call next-gen. I'm calling it now and again, don't be surprised this holiday season if first-party Wii U games are on-par — if not better — than third-party PS4/Nextbox launch titles.
If the studio that makes the multiplayer also makes the Wii U version, that might be some great news for GamePad implementation in the multiplayer of the game.
I can't believe y'all did not understand what they meant they're going to do at E3. When Iwata said as, you and media put it, "no EA presentation from Nintendo," he meant no general E3 presentation BUT focused presentations for media, analysts and gamers. What now seems clearer to you guys has been said by Iwata when he announced that no-E3 presentation all along, if anybody did care to read attentively what he was saying.
Quite frankly, the argument is not meant for Wii U owners but for Wii U buyers. At this point in time you either have to be a dedicated Nintendo fan or to be rather wealthy to invest in or own a Wii U; there is no purpose in buying one right now for those who are neither one nor the other. I belong to the dedicated Nintendo fan category, and I'm happy with my system and with all the games it allows me to play right now. Yet even though I admit my 3DS is making in hard to boot my Wii U right now (Fire Emblem), without a PS3, an Xbox 360 nor a gaming PC, I still have already too much to play.
@GooRoo You should play New Art Academy. Seriously. I used to believe I would never enjoy drawing nor learn how to draw, and this game taught me both. It will take me some time to reach Miiverse levels, but at least now I know I can make it.
I think that's a wise choice. I know I won't buy anymore third-party games, at least at launch, when Nintendo's releases come to the rescue, since I already have some to finish and some that I haven't even started yet, and I'll be busy with the likes of Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, Wind Waker HD and, who knows, maybe that retro Metroid or that 3D Mario.
It's gonna be a bad time for the third-parties that will try to play catch up on the Wii U (looking at you Rayman Legends), so that's a period they might as well ignore altogether.
Yeah, we need Wiimote+Nunchuck-only sessions. And I totally agree that Wiimote+Nunchuck in the campaign makes the Wii U version of Black Ops II the definitive version.
Actually, a 128 Go can work on the 3DS: you just need to reformat it. It's one of those other things (like plugging in a portable hard drive with a Y-cable to the Wii U, no need for a power source) that is just too awesome for Nintendo to talk to us about.
I really hope they're rebooting Metroid Prime, but not under the same name since the trilogy is over, and the team leaders who made it have left the company. The GamePad can bring some tremondous benefits to this series, and there would also be the ability to play either with the Nunchuck or the dual sticks so that newcomers from the PS360 would not be lost having to play with the Wiimote+Nunchuck combo. Again, to catch those future customers, the dark atmosphere of Metroid is I believe the best opportunity and is the closest a reknown Nintendo franchise is to major FPS of PS360 fans. What's more, given how impressive the graphics of Trilogy are on Wii U, the high-end graphics of a new 3D Metroid on Wii U would establish the Wii U to be next-gen, as I could guarantee it to be on par with PS4/NextBox launch titles in terms of graphics.
I'm pretty sure each translator worked from the Japanese version, each one from their own side and, as this and their different culture show, had a different approach to how they wanted to convey the Japanese script. Hinting at the possibility of this being the reason why the game was delayed in Europe compared to North America, even partially, is quite frankly irrelevant.
Save from that, they should also provide customers with pictures of the console they're sending and of the defects they're selling it with so that consumers truly know what they're getting.
I hope thought that they'll take this opportunity to improve even more the visuals. The 3D was perfect, but the game could used some more polish nonetheless on the 3DS. I'm all for online leaderboards to be able to compare my Insane times with the entire world. And Streetpass to see if somebody in the street has actually made a better score than me. But I don't see how this game could include some multiplayer. It's a single-player experience and that's what makes it formula so enjoyable.
@Kaze_Memaryu How about just playing with music in your ears, from your iPhone, iPod or anything? I mean, that's just the way I did and probably one the reasons why I enjoyed the game so much.
@ErnisDy You can't imagine the number of times I've been rushing in this game in the Métro, bus and other means of transportation. This game has provided me some serious bliss, for how much again? 2 euros?
Wow, wow, wow, wow... Naysayers hold it right there.
Did I just read some folks saying it didn't convey the thrill of speed? Or have most around here never finished all the tracks and have never played the game in Insane mode?? Because this game is the very reason why F-Zero has to appear on the 3DS.
