@DashDG Honestly, it's same for me. But then when 3DS games on the eShop are priced 45 bucks we rage but we sing no praise when they release discounted.
At the same time, I would not be too sure that HMV themselves aren't in trouble. We had GAME France closing down after some huge discounts so I'm just warning you guys over there in the UK...
These retailers should just wait till the games come and focus on selling those PS360s until then. I'm glad for all of those who wanted to buy but couldn't afford (yet), but for those who hesitate to consider the console and still perceptive it as some last-gen BS, it will only reinforce their standpoint.
@Tech101 Ooowwww... Playing the early game and not having incentive in transferring is a no-go for me: after all, like @Sjoerd, this is the one game I don't need a demo for. I'm a HUGE fan so I'd rather wait for the real game rather than be teased. Thanks for the info!!
A friend of mine was debating that A Link to the Past was better than Ocarina of Time, and since I didn't play the former I assumed he was wrong. But now I have my doubts...
@TheRealThanos "In this game, having your F1 racing steering wheel put on the display of the GamePad will make for quite a realistic driving simulation, seeing as in real life the steering wheel is also detachable and full of buttons. Not to mention the comparison in shape..."
I'm glad somebody in here have that same idea, it's not that hard to figure out.
@Haywired We'll see what it does in action, but as for my idea, I believe it is definitely worth it when playing with motion controls.
But back on that HUD thing. I've seen a friend of mine play a Need For Speed on the PS3, and I can tell you that nearly half of the screen was HUD with more than half of this being gameplay-wise useless. Now the innovation of the Wii U doesn't lay here only — I would refer you to Nintendo Land among other games for that at the moment — and you can do with all that HUD, fine. But seen how this is a first-person driving experience, your GamePad is your cockpit that allows you to experience the game as you see it on those screenshots, which you will not be able to do on other consoles unless you cope with missing those information, some of which being critical.
It's just a better way to play the game which, in my opinion, is pointless to argue.
@Le_Gazman Says he the day we learn about how real that Wii U Deus Ex actually is, lol. People who think it's funny to "threaten" to sell their Wii U's might just go ahead, but again, don't feel dumb when crawling back in shame for those mandatory Smash Bros. and Mario Kart — not to mention all the games others have already mentioned.
You guys should read the EuroGamer article. This isn't just a port. They basically remade this game as it was meant to be experienced. A full price is completely legit.
@SpaceKappa I was just about to point out your second reason and contrarily to what you believe I don't think it's dumb, because as Wii U owners I think we should support the very few who, right now, support our platform if we want more to come towards it. That's why I'm buying Need For Speed and, after reading this article and the interview on Eurogamer, that's why I'm buying this director's cut.
When I heard this game was about to be ported to the Wii U, I made my research, discovering a game which, even though it had a fascinating story, had inherent gameplay flaws and graphics that would put shame on the Wii U were it be ported as is two years later. But here it isn't the case. Here it is the developers themselves, teaming up with a team that has knowledge on porting to the Wii U, that are bring their game to Nintendo's new console in a completely revamped edition. Hopefully, now the game will be at the level of its cinematic trailer and of its epic scoring.
They could also use the Wii U GamePad as a "converged" rear-view mirror, in the way that it would mix both of the cars rear-view mirrors into one perfect mirror that sees right behind you... Like in Sonic Racing Transformed, but filling the entire screen, and you could switch between HUD screens on the GamePad tapping left or right or triggering L or R: one for the map, one for the speed and all, one for the mirror, one for... I mean, if that's not problem-solving, I don't know what is.
@Haywired You put the GamePad upfront of you as a steering wheel, you see both the GamePad's screen and the TV at the same and move around motion control style (or with sticks, you decide). The GamePad has all HUD, the TV screen is cristal clear with the game display only. How is that for a solution?
For real, this is marketing genius. Everyone on Miiverse was looking for Miyamoto, and now he appears, hyping up Luigi's Mansion 2 AND future Luigi games for this Year of Luigi. Plus, the game gets its own 3DS Miiverse community on the Wii U BEFORE release. Nintendo HQ can get ready to count that money.
I have to thank you guys again: I had this demo for half a year on my 3DS and now, for the first time, not only have I geniunely enjoyed it but I have also finished it. No motion controls, no purchase on my Wii U. Which is sad, because the GamePad's gyroscope in Off-TV play could defeat any day the 3DS' in terms of precision. And with the GamePad's supplemental buttons and a Wiimote control scheme à la Metroid Prime 3, there in no desperate need to rely on the GamePad's screen for input: it could be just used as a visible HUD and map support when playing with the Wiimote and the same way plus a touch helper for those who want to play with the dual sticks.
But then again, though it's some extra work and investment for the developers, it is just dumb even financially not to implement those motion controls on Nintendo's new console. The reason is that, at this point in time, virtually every Wii U owner already owns either a 3DS or a PS360 with either the ability to play the original or that of playing the remake the exact same way on other consoles they already have (if not both): which would render a purchase on the Wii U dually irrelevant. Hopefully, just like for Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Capcom will change their mind and guarantee a patch — if not at launch — will be on the way.
O. M. G. @rayword45 @DerpSandwich You guys just saved my life. Guess I'll go for the 3DS version then: that one I can play it in scare in my bed at night.
Now what would be awesome is if Capcom would allow on the Wii U version some co-op with one player pointing the screen with the Wiimote and another shooting with the gyroscope on the GamePad: THAT would be genius.
@Five-seveN After getting a taste of Metroid Prime Trilogy (and having beating my friend and the campaign on BLOPS2 with the Wiimote) there is no way I'm shooting at my screen without my Wiimote.
It tells a lot about what other developers/publishers have been saying about porting on the Wii U. I think our laziness argument is gaining credibility.
@Five-seveN It has already started. For once I'd be happy for Bankai to come around and whoop some butts...
But WTF... I mean... and I think it was him back then that was talking about the next generation that "had yet to come..." I swear, folks, we've seen examples: THQ who is now extinct, Atari whose American branch died recently, and now EA... Folks, for the sake of this industry, stop bashing the Wii U and keep your jobs!!!!!!!!!
@Everly Now that you're saying that, I might as well pick up Just Dance 4. My younger cousin is a fan of the series, it would be great that she could dance here freely at my house since I have a Wii U and she doesn't — and her parents probably won't buy her one in years. Plus, with the GamePad, we could have some fun experiences.

At least I am.
