Re: iOS Developers May Be Able To Port Games To The Wii U

DePapier

Nintendo will know how to filter the games that come to the Wii U so there is no reason to expect the eShop to turn into some kind of Apple Store. This is obviously great for bedroom developers and a way to have more titles with the quality level of Gunman Clive on a dedicated platform.

Re: New Watch_Dogs Trailer Spies on Aiden Pearce

I really hope they'll port it right on the Wii U, first of all by porting from the PC version of the game instead of the PS360 versions of it, just like it has been done for Need For Speed Most Wanted U. Thankfully it's Ubisoft Bucharest who's doing the porting, and they have already work on the Wii U for the ZombiU multiplayer. If the heads at Ubisoft allow them to work efficiently, with the concept of the game, its GamePad integration and some decent "cross-gen" graphics — since I could flamed for daring to say next-gen --, we will be getting the definitive version of the game on the Wii U without the shadow of a doubt.

Re: No Battlefield 4 For Wii U Because DICE Wants To "Play It Safe"

DePapier

@Peach64 Honestly, we already have proof that it is not that hard to port a game to the Wii U. What quality would suffer from it if it's just allowing for Off-TV play and Pro Controller support? And you're telling me EA doesn't have enough resources for that??

He doesn't want to bring his game to the Wii U and that's fine, for whatever reason it is. But some of us here who own a Wii U would have liked to play the game on our console, as it is totally feasible.

Re: Rachel Features In New Resident Evil Revelations Gameplay Trailer

There is so much they could do for the Wii U version: pointer controls with the Wiimote when playing on the TV, gyro controls with the GamePad in off-TV play, playing the Raid Mode with a couch buddy in local multiplayer, upping the the graphics more but they'll have to stick to the limitations of the PS3 and XBox360...

If all this isn't there (except for the graphics) I'll just stick to buying the 3DS version.

And one more head rolling... This industry truly is in bad shape.

(Yet in the meantime, some company has made sure it can stay afloat cashing in 10 billion with their profitable last-gen console and selling their new one at a one-game profit.) I'm serious: this industry need to observe and learn from the way Nintendo does business.

Re: Fez For Wii U Is Highly Unlikely Unless Nintendo Pays For It

@Peach64 ...You're aware the 3DS eShop can be more viable than iOS and even Android in some cases, right? It wouldn't make quite much sense to rule out the best-selling portable console.

I'm sure Dan Adelman would and still could have been friends with him to bring the game over to the 3DS eShop. But it's obvious here on this website that we do not like him and hence yes, the platform would definitely not be profitable for him.

Re: Platinum's Kamiya: "No Other Way" That Bayonetta 2 Could Be Made Without Nintendo

DePapier

It's been half a year and people are still not over this. It's been just about 2 months for Rayman Legends and we're already excited about AC4 and Watch Dogs on Wii U. (I know I am.)

I'm sorry to say this but, fanboyism is very real. And it will only get stronger as all next generation consoles will be in stores and the average gamer will not be able to own all three consoles right away, if he ever does. We hear countless times about how Nintendo fans are deemed to be fanboys, always raging at the slightest doom prediction; but the other hand of the spectrum, as proven in this article, is just utterly ridiculous.

People don't want to admit it, but gamers who don't own Nintendo hardware just hate Nintendo, fair and simple. They'd rather die than see their favorite games on Nintendo's consoles. Sadly for them, the reality is that just about all of these games are neither made nor financed by Sony and Microsoft, which makes them elligible to be on Nintendo: and they just don't want that to happen.

Re: Talking Point: The Download or Disc Dilemma

DePapier

I still need to understand why people are so upset about Wii U downloads being tied to hardware. We're supposed to play those games only on our Wii Us. We're supposed to have only one Wii U, which is the console on which those games are tied. If our Wii U has an issue, we just need to contact Nintendo to make sure the games will be on our replacement Wii U. So I'd like to know: where is the issue?

15+ years from now, the Wii U eShop and network servers as we know it will be discountinued. The same will hold true for Sony and Microsoft's networks for the PS3 and XBox 360, except much sooner, about 5 years from now. When that happens, none of those downloaded games will work on the PS3 and XBox 360: you'll have to find you're way around the cloud through Gaikai on the PS4, and we don't even know yet how it's going to work with Microsoft. But guess what: even if Nintendo dies tomorrow you will still be able to play your Wii U downloads for as long as your Wii U lives. If Sony and Microsoft's networks get killed tomorrow? All those games won't even work.

At least that's the way I see it. Nintendo would be wrong to copy their competitors if that's how it is. And if it's indeed this way, I believe they deserve that at least we Nintendo fans give them a break.

Re: Nintendo Download: 28th March 2013 (Europe)

DePapier

I'll have to know more about that transfer tool. Does it mean we'll be able to rebuy our already owned retail games online for up to 5 € (if not for free, but I doubt it) and then transfer the data so we don't need to carry our carts anymore??

And wouldn't that be great if DS games were made available as downloads on the eShop and so were Wii games?

Re: Nintendo Spells Out Why You Should Pick Wii U In Promotional Flyer

DePapier

This is truly desperate. And who, at PAX East, could be there without knowing what the Wii U is? And shouldn't Nintendo compare the Wii U to its competition? The fact that people mistake the Wii U for a Wii accessory isn't because they are dumb, and sadly, that's what this measure is implying: it's because the console hasn't been rightly marketed.

Something's just wrong.

Re: No Updates Planned For Resident Evil: Revelations On 3DS

DePapier

I don't think there is a reason to complain. This is a different game, and I'm sure those who have the 3DS original have been fine with it. If they want to sell this new version to them (and to me as I'll buy the 3DS version now that I know it has motion controls), they'll have to make these bonuses only on the new version, else there is absolutely no reason to rebuy it again.

Re: Wii Mini Generating Little Interest in The UK

DePapier

But I just read from @Kuribo that it is over 100 € in Finland. (Wait a minute... HELL, IT'S ACTUALLY OVER 100 € IN FRANCE, TOO!!!)
THAT is just wrong. This product should have never gone over the 99.99 landmark in any currency.

Re: Wii Mini Generating Little Interest in The UK

DePapier

@ToastyYogurt You know — and I'm actually addressing this to most of us on this website --, casual gamers don't play online. Casual gamers don't play Wii Virtual Console. Casual gamers don't play Gamecube on the Wii.
And casual gamers don't buy their consoles second-hand.

We're not the targeted demographic of this product, but it is silly (though one day doesn't mean much) that even those clients haven't been approached through marketing.

Re: Talking Point: The Perils and Positives of a Packed Release Schedule

DePapier

@Peach64 From a Wii U owner's perspective, it's much more about how there were no games before and now all of a sudden games are coming all at once, which will make these new Wii U games compete against one another. Thing is, it's probably going to be the ports that will find themselves in trouble and we might have 3rd parties reconsidering working so hard to bring them to begin with.
