Re: Talking Point: The Wonderful 101 Direct and Demo Set the Standard for Wii U Marketing

"We were also told the release date, over and over again. Some have said this was evidence of the presentation being short marketing clips stitched together, but surely they could have been edited out?"

I think Kamiya clearly did it on purpose. If you see the Japanese Direct you get to hear his voice better and I'm quite sure he definitely says it himself again and again and again meaning:

  • get ready for September 15th.

Plus I don't see short marketing clips beginning with "sate" (I think that's what he says in Japanese) or "next."

EDIT: "Let's remember, this is Hideki Kamiya and PlatinumGames, so we wouldn't rule out the possibility that it was part of a 'nudge-nudge wink-wink' joke, lightly teasing the Nintendo Direct format that's become its own iconic part of the big N's branding in recent times."

Re: Wii U Hardware Still Being Sold At A Loss

I really want to see what happens this holiday season. Already from February to now, mentalities have changed rather positively — February was a nightmare for Wii U owners/supporters. If the PS4 and the Xbox One have similar issues at launch than the Wii U, and gamers call for a price drop, I'd really want to know how Sony and Microsoft will react.

@Mahe First: you bought the system, why are you complaining?
Second: I don't understand how as a Wii U owner you cannot experience the value of the GamePad. You might want to resell it once games using two GamePads start rolling.

Again, sent with my GamePad.

Re: Feature: The Big Nintendo Direct Round-Up - 7th August

That Shibata picture made history. That dude is not only the head of Nintendo of Europe; he is most and foremost a fan and I think it's for that reason we are now seeing Japanese blockbusters such as Bravely Default and Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney knocking at our Western doors.

Re: Wii U Hardware Still Being Sold At A Loss

What is needed in my opinion isn't a price drop but a pricing restructure. I own the console, I won't complain on the price, but I think there needs to be a 300 Deluxe Wii U without neither Nintendo Land nor the Deluxe Digital Promotion.

For those interested, here are my arguments:

That way they'll actually be able to make game bundles other than Nintendo Land for 350 and bundles of games with accessories, such Wii Fit U on the hard drive with the Wii Balance Board and Fit Meter, for a maximum of 400.

Re: Wii U Hardware Still Being Sold At A Loss

@MadAussieBloke Yup. And people believe nobody wants the Wii U... There is a HUGE amount of interest in the Wii U behind all the hate, if MS and Sony screw up while Nintendo is on the rise I can guarantee you won't see Xbox and Playstation making another platform.

Re: Professor Layton Vs. Ace Attorney Is Being Localised For Western Release

DePapier

I already shouted my lungs out, I can now take this rationally.

I REALLY HOPE Capcom will partner with Nintendo and push the European release of Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies to include a retail version and full European localization: I don't want to see this great series fade away in my territory.

But yeah, SHIBATA WI'LE SWAAAAAAAAGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!

Re: Bethesda: Wii U Is "Not On Our Radar"Right Now

DePapier

But... Aonuma said he was inspired by Skyrim... Monolith Soft said they wanted to be like Bethesda... Why, Bethesda, whyyyyyyyyyy...

Never played any of their games on a Nintendo console — or any platform probably --, I can't really see that as a loss.

Re: Rex Rocket Confirmed to be Flying Onto Wii U

Iwata once said during a Q&A with investors how somehow he didn't give a damn about major third-parties jumpimg off board because they're just about a 100 versus 10,000s of indie developers ready to jump onto new opportunities. Nintendo first-party games, indie games, and the odd enlightened major third-party games will make this console a great platform to play on, if that's not already the case from a Wii U owner's perspective.

Re: Interview: Ubisoft On Splinter Cell Blacklist, Taking the Series Forward and Wii U Features

DePapier

You've nailed the right questions with the interview, I'm really glad for the answers. Seems like Ubisoft Shanghai is in for recognition and I will proudly support them.

Now there is one contradiction. No offline co-op, but off-TV play is entirely supported EXCEPT for offline co-op. Does that mean we can expect an update with offline co-op were the game on Wii U to be relatively successful?
