Just finished reading the article and from a fan's perspective, that's exactly what we need to feel proud of our console and to feel empowered to spread the word.
"We were also told the release date, over and over again. Some have said this was evidence of the presentation being short marketing clips stitched together, but surely they could have been edited out?"
I think Kamiya clearly did it on purpose. If you see the Japanese Direct you get to hear his voice better and I'm quite sure he definitely says it himself again and again and again meaning:
get ready for September 15th.
Plus I don't see short marketing clips beginning with "sate" (I think that's what he says in Japanese) or "next."
EDIT: "Let's remember, this is Hideki Kamiya and PlatinumGames, so we wouldn't rule out the possibility that it was part of a 'nudge-nudge wink-wink' joke, lightly teasing the Nintendo Direct format that's become its own iconic part of the big N's branding in recent times."
@Moose_4 I think it's best to see the Direct before playing the demo so that you have a better grasp of what you're doing. But given your case I guess it also works the other way around.
I just need to say that Nintendo should allow more funded third-party exclusives to have their own Nintendo Directs. I'm here especially thinking about Sonic Lost World and Kamiya's potential return to the Direct screen with Bayonetta 2.
I really want to see what happens this holiday season. Already from February to now, mentalities have changed rather positively — February was a nightmare for Wii U owners/supporters. If the PS4 and the Xbox One have similar issues at launch than the Wii U, and gamers call for a price drop, I'd really want to know how Sony and Microsoft will react.
@Mahe First: you bought the system, why are you complaining?
Second: I don't understand how as a Wii U owner you cannot experience the value of the GamePad. You might want to resell it once games using two GamePads start rolling.
That Shibata picture made history. That dude is not only the head of Nintendo of Europe; he is most and foremost a fan and I think it's for that reason we are now seeing Japanese blockbusters such as Bravely Default and Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney knocking at our Western doors.
What is needed in my opinion isn't a price drop but a pricing restructure. I own the console, I won't complain on the price, but I think there needs to be a 300 Deluxe Wii U without neither Nintendo Land nor the Deluxe Digital Promotion.
That way they'll actually be able to make game bundles other than Nintendo Land for 350 and bundles of games with accessories, such Wii Fit U on the hard drive with the Wii Balance Board and Fit Meter, for a maximum of 400.
@MadAussieBloke Yup. And people believe nobody wants the Wii U... There is a HUGE amount of interest in the Wii U behind all the hate, if MS and Sony screw up while Nintendo is on the rise I can guarantee you won't see Xbox and Playstation making another platform.
I'm still dreaming they'll make an update with orchestral songs once they announce Zelda U, just to attract old Gamecube gamers like me who already enjoyed the game a long time ago.
@MrWalkieTalkie It truly has been a beta test from launch until Pikmin 3: at least that how I see as a launch day Wii U owner. But hey: now the good games are rollin'!!
If somehow this game sells better on the Wii U than on other consoles, I think Yves will have to give us February Wii U owners a thank you and an apology.
Still not buying. I'll wait for the bargain bin: that is, if I even dare to wait for the game. W101, here I come!!
I already shouted my lungs out, I can now take this rationally.
I REALLY HOPE Capcom will partner with Nintendo and push the European release of Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies to include a retail version and full European localization: I don't want to see this great series fade away in my territory.
But yeah, SHIBATA WI'LE SWAAAAAAAAGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!
I'm obviously buying it in its download-only format but I don't see newcomers hoping in with that barrier, especially in Europe since the game is only translated in English.
Capcom is just cheaply restraining the franchise in my opinion.
@The-Chosen-one Somebody played the Wii U on a Shinkansen before it even launched in Japan. I heard here on NL of a setup to play Wii U in a car. Can't provide the links here on my smartphone unfortunately. ;/
The man definitely doesn't know Nintendo. And what he is talking about is called a Wii U and came out last year, not in 4 years. So much hate going around that console people don't even know what it does anymore.
Iwata once said during a Q&A with investors how somehow he didn't give a damn about major third-parties jumpimg off board because they're just about a 100 versus 10,000s of indie developers ready to jump onto new opportunities. Nintendo first-party games, indie games, and the odd enlightened major third-party games will make this console a great platform to play on, if that's not already the case from a Wii U owner's perspective.
Please, people, get that escapevektor for 5 €, I did it last time they made a sale, and it's worth 4 times the price in terms of content. Plus the gameplay is awesome.
You've nailed the right questions with the interview, I'm really glad for the answers. Seems like Ubisoft Shanghai is in for recognition and I will proudly support them.
Now there is one contradiction. No offline co-op, but off-TV play is entirely supported EXCEPT for offline co-op. Does that mean we can expect an update with offline co-op were the game on Wii U to be relatively successful?

Didn't expected RECCA to come by in Europe.

Re: Talking Point: The Wonderful 101 Direct and Demo Set the Standard for Wii U Marketing
I am proud to for once agree with one of your Talking Point titles, Thomas.
Yes it does!
Re: Pokémon X & Y "Mega Evolution" Details Fleshed Out, Distribution Event Confirmed
I think a Mega starter from Gen 3 is a good clue for Saphir and Rubis to be the next Pokémon games on the 3DS.
Re: Pokémon X & Y "Mega Evolution" Details Fleshed Out, Distribution Event Confirmed
Awesomeness afoot.
Re: The Wonderful 101 Demo Coming to Europe Today
Re: Senran Kagura Burst Confirmed For Physical And 3DS eShop Release In Europe
@Placlu I knew there would be that kind of downer... Just like for Code of Princess, hot girls should NOT be a reason to allow breaking a game.
Re: Senran Kagura Burst Confirmed For Physical And 3DS eShop Release In Europe
@magicsnake I agree COMPLETELY. Maybe YOU should shake your booty, Capcom.

Re: Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl Receives Pre-Order Box Set
How come we have no idea when it's coming to Europe?! I want this to be my first Etrian Odyssey!!

@Mahe As a Wii U owner, answering to you from my GamePad, that's the biggest BS I have ever heard.

@Burning_Spear I know right.
Re: Iwata: No Chance Of Nintendo's "Precious Resources" Coming To Other Platforms
He real.
Re: Wonderful 101 Team Is Platinum's Biggest Ever, Game Has More Content Than Bayonetta
@unrandomsam He is actually somehow lying. I tried the demo at the Paris Japan Expo and got killed. Tried a second time and figured my way out.

Re: Bethesda: Wii U Is "Not On Our Radar"Right Now
But... Aonuma said he was inspired by Skyrim... Monolith Soft said they wanted to be like Bethesda... Why, Bethesda, whyyyyyyyyyy...
Never played any of their games on a Nintendo console — or any platform probably --, I can't really see that as a loss.
Re: SteamWorld Dig Is Breaking The Surface Early In Europe And Australia
@MrWalkieTalkie Make sure you send it to Nintendo and ONLY to Nintendo if you want to keep your digital data and rights.
Re: New Nintendo Direct Coming August 7th, Focus Is "Previously Announced" Wii U And 3DS Software
That's not the W101 Direct, I'm sure of it. And if they mix it with this Direct I won't be happy: this game needs full exposure.
But I hope they'll announce ORCHESTRAL SOUNDTRACKS FOR WIND WAKER HD!!!!!!!!!
But that's just me dreaming.
