Re: Review: Raji: An Ancient Epic - A Refreshing Experience That Leaves You Wanting More

Dash000

@Apportal Even if people (like myself) don't generally get headaches from lowish framerates, it can certainly make the experience less pleasant.

What would be the low frame-rate line for you to be " a huge baby" about? 5 fps? 10 fps? My point here is everyone can get to a point where a low framerate can make a game unpleasant or even unplayable, and so the general industry-accepted level to avoid this is around 30 fps because under that some people start enjoying a game less. Therefore consistently or noticeable dropping under that is a valid criticism.

It looks like for you, "However, having a sucky camera totaly ruins the experience" You might note that while many people feel that way, not everyone does either, so its a good thing they aren't "huge babies about camera angles" right?

My point is you can care about some aspects of a game's technical performance more than others, just don't go insulting people who are different. It's a good rule of thumb to use in general life too.

Re: Feature: Talking Super Smash Bros. Ultimate With Nintendo's Bill Trinen And Nate Bihldorff

@Cobalt So idk how interested you are in the rest of the gaming industry, but you know that a game that reuses a lot of assets, but then builds from that point to add new mechanics, modes, characters, maps, etc. and make numerous changes in the mean time is called a sequel, right? Obviously the switch is fairly close in power to the wiiu; it would be moronic to make completely 100% new models and stuff. Look at other series that have multiple entries on the same generation... you call them "enhanced ports"? Smash Ultimate is obviously more different from Splatoon 2, but then again you probably think that is a port too. Look at Doom, Skyrim, Wolfenstein, whatever on switch. Those are actual ports. Go learn what a port and what a sequel is before bashing the game, the interview, and Nintendo itself. Also what clvr said lol.

Re: Poll: Have Your Say on the Best Main Series 3D Mario and Zelda Games

@Tsurii Fair enough and all...but you dislike Galaxy for being a "3D NSMB with mediocre controls" but then you really like 3d World, which is straight up a 3D NSMB? Its cool and all and I can understand liking one above the other...but you might want to rethink your reasoning for it, if for no other reason than helping yourself figure out what games you will enjoy in the future.

Re: Has-Been Heroes Gets a Meaty New Update, and It's Free

Dash000

Dang. Wow. Everyone seemed to love to hate on this game due to its learning curve, but I found a solid 20-30 hours of good fun in it. It was already worth the money, but this free update makes me even happier that I bought the game and recommended it to people

Re: Nintendo Wants Everyone In Your House To Have Their Own Switch

@SLIGEACH_EIRE
The joycon may be "garbage" for console play, but are you really saying that for handheld controls the joycon are actually worse than say, the 3ds or other handhelds? Obviously they are small and less comfortable than a controller, but so is basically every handheld, and the joycon controllers function more like a controller than any other mainline handheld.

Re: Review: Spelunker Party! (Switch eShop)

@cyrus_zuo Fair enough! I'm all for hard games if they are deep and fair. I guess its true that this game is rated 6 due to a design that can appeal to a certain audience but is also flawed, and that's fair.

Just wondering, since I honestly haven't played nearly all the way through, how does it justify the price tag compared to stuff like Binding of Isaac (Lets say rebirth because its like $20), Steamworld Dig, Shovel Knight, Axiom Verge, etc.? If it gets alot better or deeper late on I might be willing to give it another shot, since as I said difficulty, upgrade path, etc. are totally my jam in something like Monster Hunter.

Re: Review: Spelunker Party! (Switch eShop)

Dash000

Its funny all the people saying that a 6 is too low. While I'm perfectly fine with people having their own opinion and all, mine is that the game is poorly designed, flawed in many ways, and straight up not fun at all. Sorry fam, from the POV of someone who wasn't a huge fan of the original or anything, this game wouldn't be worth $3 nevermind flipping $30

Re: Review: Has-Been Heroes (Switch eShop)

Dash000

@jwfurness What you said. I'm at about 12 hours, having killed 5/6 main bosses for the initial storyline. This is not an easy game nor does it have a shallow learning curve, and therefore many people seem to dismiss it outright, but everyone I have talked to that has played past the first couple bosses seems to really enjoy it. Has Been Heroes is probably my favorite Switch game at the moment after Zelda.

Re: Review: Monster Hunter Generations (3DS)

Great Review!

One thing though, weapons were never upgraded with armor spheres, and have always required specific monster parts in order to upgrade. This game actually makes the process easier in some cases, since progression along the same tree of weapons requires fewer specific parts, and instead one can use a higher number of common parts. Of course, when upgrading to a new tree, the upgrades generally require the same rare stuff as always. Armor spheres have always been used only to increase the defense of armor, but I have looked into exactly what they do in this game if it is any different.
