As we'll be getting it before Europe, I'll be beating the rush to download the update, as we're more than likely going to be getting it from Europe's servers
I'm a little confused about all this motion technology, lol.
I hope the final version of Nintendo Land does what Becky says the GamePad does. I found when I was throwing ninja stars, my Gamepad was a little off after a while and I had to reset my aiming reticule. Technically if this geomagnetic sensor should prevent this happening... right?
@6ch6ris6 incentive to buy one I guess, also guarantees it was bought in the last year, and that the 3DS owner in question doesn't already have 20 ambassador games for free already
Le_Gazman: Not that I have one yet (I'm Aussie) but I believe the system boots up first on the gamepad, so he could load up a game, then just press the button that instantly sends the game to the gamepad.
Of course it's the next gen, just like the Wii was when it came out.
Instead of having "next-gen" graphics (which are debatable, as even high-end PC games only really improve on PS3/360' graphics by around 20%), Nintendo's going for next-gen innovations, such as Miiverse and the Gamepad, experiences that can't be had on current-gen products.
I'm discounting Smartglass and Vita Crossplay because they're not ever going to be widespread enough so as to be considered part of the core design of the console like the Wii U has.
In terms of external HDD storage that's more than 2tb, I'd suggest partitioning your drive, then you can still use the rest for other things if necessary.
@Yanchamaru: Preorders were reportedly sold out all across the states, so the retailers near where you live have obviously fibbed about their sales figures.
Thankfully I have a friend who has ADSL2 who said I can bring my Wii U over to his house when I buy it so I can get the update.
Also, I've had to factory reset my PS3 a couple of times because my kids turned the PS3 off at the wall while it was running, so for those saying "inexcusable!", I suggest you heed the advice that any console gives you, which is do not turn the console off if the HDD is on or you are updating your system
Finally, for those saying they have waited long enough and don't want to download a day 1 update, remember this happens to just about every console that comes out these days, I had to update my Vita on day one as well. People out there are still waiting for Jellybean to come to their Android phones as promised, just be patient, geez.
While I'm the main person that wants the Wii U in the house, it's constantly referred to my family, myself included, as our Wii U. It's been a planned launch with our family that I can have my Darksiders and ZombiU, as long as there's some games for the whole family to play together aswell, and I think that's great!
My guess only would be is that they plan to have it on the eShop soon after Wii U. In its new form it would be playable on the Gamepad, whereas current VC can't be played on the Gamepad.
No, but I'm kind of sick and tired of companies forcing people to pay 2 bucks a pop for an alternate skin for a character when games have had options like these in games since the 80's at no extra cost, and I honestly can't remember the last game on PS3 I've played that had unlockables in it, other than trophies.
Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom comes to mind, I liked its unlockables, I actually felt like I earned something!
Call me old fashioned, but unlocking extra parts for a car, an extra character to play as, or a new level used to be a reward for playing a game well, now I only get a trophy/achievement, and I get to pay extra money for the privelege of extra characters and levels!
The introduction of achievements was the introduction of paying extra to get the real rewards.
I've got a reasonable trophy count on my PS3 (I'm on level 12), and I'm not even trying, the majority of trophies are ridiculous.
PLUS, how often am I enjoying an awesomely done dramatic cutscene in a game, only for it to go 'BLING!' Trophy Unlocked: 'Like a Bat Out of Hell'
Yes, I'm using Darksiders as an example, being immersed in that game so often, only for it to ruin the experience with a pun that doesn't even suit the game, is incredibly annoying.
I'm taking this with a grain of salt until someone with a Wii U in their hands can confirm or deny it (or, Nintendo themselves come out and say it, which is unlikely).
I'm thinking along the lines of @ruhonthegreat, while I picked PS3 over the others when a game was multiplatform, this was due to it having the online presence, people on my friends list could see what I was playing, then we could talk about it and such.
Miiverse is this x1000 from what I can hear, so Wii U will be most likely winning my multiplatform purchases from now on.
Sometimes the guy needs reminding what fans want. t here probably isn't a lot of new stuff it could offer, but really you could apply thst theory to NSMB2. I hope they bring a new one out for its fans, but I still have nightmares over GX
@warioswoods: I totally agree, I don't mind SingStar, but my pet hate with it is that it's more like singing along to a radio, rather than singing with a backing track, like real karaoke.
The Wii U will be sitting where my 360 used to sit in my lounge room, (the 360 has been delegated to the garage for the kids to play, as I have hardly any interest in it anymore)
I think this directly translates to "this is why we held Pikmin 3 back".
I'm all for it, Pikmin 3 probably wouldn't have been bought by me had it come at launch, as I would have picked Nintendo Land, NSMBU, ZombiU and Scribblenauts Unlimited before it. But as it's releasing in a few months down the track, I'll be able to afford it then with Luigi's Mansion 2
But seriously, I liken the Nintendo Direct as a video version of the Playstation Blog, it's a regular thing that keeps going to let you know what's going on with your console, keep up the good work
"When we launched Nintendo Direct a year ago, we did not know how many people would care to watch it, but now it appears that as many as 600,000 to 1 million people watch our Nintendo Direct videos in a week." (laughs)
The news story only appeared on the Australian site on the 26th of October, being a Friday, the news piece wasn't posted up over the weekend, taking it to Monday.
I wasn't aware of it being on the shop either, as I have a US Wii
@ThePillowGolem: Yeah, good point! Apparently all of it's supposed to be explained in the story mode, hopefully we'll get a better idea of why Batman is super powered and Superman is not so (other than balancing issues obviously )
I'd like to make the suggestion that if we get the opportunity to play games for charity, then we should have people donate money for Brutus to play all these games for 24 hours straight.

Re: Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition Dogged By Performance Issues
Remember, this is just what Eurogamer have reported.
If you want to know how this version handles specifically, read reviews from many places and make your own judgement call.
It's only early days for the Wii U, and issues (if any) only seem to be appearing in ports of old games designed to run on different hardware.
Nintendo Life is here to spread news from a variety of different sites, so don't hate on them.
Like a vast number of people commenting on this story alone, it's barely noticable, so just read a review, if you like it, buy it!
Re: Review: SiNG Party (Wii U)
Yeah, I wasn't expecting much, but hey, it's the first of its genre from Ninty, so hopefully it'll get better.
I'm glad Jon mentioned that Nickelback is in the game, this means I won't be buying it.

Re: Review: Rabbids Land (Wii U)
I won't be getting it, the one-on-one restriction is kinda a deal breaker, but oh well. Nintendo Land comes with my Wii U anyhow so happy days!
Re: Wii U GamePad Can Play Assassin's Creed 3 in 3D
So not many will be playing it in 3D then...
I have passive 3D glasses with my Panasonic, so that won't work unfortunately, though I have snazzy cardboard 3D glasses that came with Arkham Asylum!
Re: Don't Worry, Our Wii U Reviews Are Incoming

I don't know anyone who owns more than 2tb though

Yeah, Nintendo still does that.

Re: Retro City Rampage Isn't Headed Down Under

What does the Australian Classification Board have to do with Nintendo's running of the Australian eShop?
Re: Wii Owners: Microsoft Wants You To Buy The Xbox 360 This Holiday Season
Well I have a 360, but it's going to cost me like 150 bucks to get a Wireless adapter just to hook it up to the internet, screw that.
If Nintendo owners wanted to badly get onto HD, they would have already picked up either a 360 or a PS3.
If they're not that desparate, then they're obviously holding out for the Wii U.
Re: Feature: Spooky Levels For Surprising Frights
I recently had the chance to play Game Party Champions at the EB Expo, and that frightened me.

It's been a long time!
This never got sold in Australia, so I always had the perception that the Master System was always the NES' biggest rival
Re: SiNG Party Will Test Your Vocal Chords This January
Completely depends what songs they're planning on including, and if there's going to be additional support beyond the original game, a-la Singstar.
It'd be nice if there was a partnership with someone like Universal to use their songs or something
