Re: Wii U GamePad Offers Nine-Axis Controls

Chunky_Droid

I'm a little confused about all this motion technology, lol.

I hope the final version of Nintendo Land does what Becky says the GamePad does. I found when I was throwing ninja stars, my Gamepad was a little off after a while and I had to reset my aiming reticule. Technically if this geomagnetic sensor should prevent this happening... right?

Re: Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition Dogged By Performance Issues

Chunky_Droid

Remember, this is just what Eurogamer have reported.

If you want to know how this version handles specifically, read reviews from many places and make your own judgement call.

It's only early days for the Wii U, and issues (if any) only seem to be appearing in ports of old games designed to run on different hardware.

Nintendo Life is here to spread news from a variety of different sites, so don't hate on them.

Like a vast number of people commenting on this story alone, it's barely noticable, so just read a review, if you like it, buy it!

Re: Review: SiNG Party (Wii U)

Chunky_Droid

Yeah, I wasn't expecting much, but hey, it's the first of its genre from Ninty, so hopefully it'll get better.

I'm glad Jon mentioned that Nickelback is in the game, this means I won't be buying it.

Re: Reggie - Wii U Is "Absolutely The Beginning Of A New Generation"

Chunky_Droid

Of course it's the next gen, just like the Wii was when it came out.

Instead of having "next-gen" graphics (which are debatable, as even high-end PC games only really improve on PS3/360' graphics by around 20%), Nintendo's going for next-gen innovations, such as Miiverse and the Gamepad, experiences that can't be had on current-gen products.

I'm discounting Smartglass and Vita Crossplay because they're not ever going to be widespread enough so as to be considered part of the core design of the console like the Wii U has.

Re: Halting Wii U System Update May Brick the System

Chunky_Droid

Thankfully I have a friend who has ADSL2 who said I can bring my Wii U over to his house when I buy it so I can get the update.

Also, I've had to factory reset my PS3 a couple of times because my kids turned the PS3 off at the wall while it was running, so for those saying "inexcusable!", I suggest you heed the advice that any console gives you, which is do not turn the console off if the HDD is on or you are updating your system

Finally, for those saying they have waited long enough and don't want to download a day 1 update, remember this happens to just about every console that comes out these days, I had to update my Vita on day one as well. People out there are still waiting for Jellybean to come to their Android phones as promised, just be patient, geez.

Re: Feature: What Excites Us About Wii U - NA Edition

Chunky_Droid

While I'm the main person that wants the Wii U in the house, it's constantly referred to my family, myself included, as our Wii U. It's been a planned launch with our family that I can have my Darksiders and ZombiU, as long as there's some games for the whole family to play together aswell, and I think that's great!

Re: Talking Point: Life Without Wii U Achievements

Chunky_Droid

@The_Fox

No, but I'm kind of sick and tired of companies forcing people to pay 2 bucks a pop for an alternate skin for a character when games have had options like these in games since the 80's at no extra cost, and I honestly can't remember the last game on PS3 I've played that had unlockables in it, other than trophies.

Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom comes to mind, I liked its unlockables, I actually felt like I earned something!

Re: Wii U Won't Include Trophies Or Achievements

Chunky_Droid

Call me old fashioned, but unlocking extra parts for a car, an extra character to play as, or a new level used to be a reward for playing a game well, now I only get a trophy/achievement, and I get to pay extra money for the privelege of extra characters and levels!

The introduction of achievements was the introduction of paying extra to get the real rewards.

I've got a reasonable trophy count on my PS3 (I'm on level 12), and I'm not even trying, the majority of trophies are ridiculous.

PLUS, how often am I enjoying an awesomely done dramatic cutscene in a game, only for it to go 'BLING!' Trophy Unlocked: 'Like a Bat Out of Hell'

Yes, I'm using Darksiders as an example, being immersed in that game so often, only for it to ruin the experience with a pun that doesn't even suit the game, is incredibly annoying.

I don't get any of this playing my 3DS.

Re: Wii U Won't Include Trophies Or Achievements

Chunky_Droid

I'm thinking along the lines of @ruhonthegreat, while I picked PS3 over the others when a game was multiplatform, this was due to it having the online presence, people on my friends list could see what I was playing, then we could talk about it and such.

Miiverse is this x1000 from what I can hear, so Wii U will be most likely winning my multiplatform purchases from now on.

Re: Nintendo Is Holding Back Wii U Titles To Maintain Momentum Into 2013

Chunky_Droid

I think this directly translates to "this is why we held Pikmin 3 back".

I'm all for it, Pikmin 3 probably wouldn't have been bought by me had it come at launch, as I would have picked Nintendo Land, NSMBU, ZombiU and Scribblenauts Unlimited before it. But as it's releasing in a few months down the track, I'll be able to afford it then with Luigi's Mansion 2
