Wanted Down Under

The Wii U will finally become available in Europe this coming Friday, and HMV's flagship London store on Oxford Street will be hosting the big event with a midnight launch. It’s not just Europe that will be having a very happy 30th November, though - on the other side of the globe Australians will be picking up their brand spanking new Wii U consoles as well.

Naturally it wouldn’t be Wii U release day without a few midnight launch parties, and information has now emerged detailing which stores Down Under will be having one.

EB Games is leading the way, opening several of its stores on the night of 29th November in preparation for the big launch at midnight. There will be three main launch events: one in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. Those EB Games stores that won’t be holding a late-one will be open from 8am local time the following morning, for those who aren't lucky enough to live near a major store.

Selected JB Hi-Fi and K Mart stores are also opening late in anticipation for the midnight launch of Nintendo's new console. The full list of all stores is below.

Technically, thanks to these midnight launches, this means Australia will get Wii U before Europe, seeing as it's several hours ahead. Will any of our Aussie readers be heading out to a midnight launch party? Let us know in the comments section below.
