You all need to realise that the GBA games from the ambassador program ran in DS mode, meaning no save-states, no Miiverse, no wireless functionality, no streetpass.
The reason GBA VC isn't coming to the 3DS is because Nintendo would rather have full 3DS functionality like with all their other VC games, and it doesn't look like they can do it, otherwise they would have announced it by now.
@ThomasBW84: Myself and James were on this concept first!
Back in March, 2010 (MAR10), I pitched the idea of Mario month to him. He thought it was brilliant, so we reviewed a bunch of Mario games (Sunshine, DX and Dance Dance Revolution included) and made a podcast.
I have the Nintendo Collector's Edition as well as an already released version of the Pokemon one that was based in Kanto. I wonder if this is just the same one released?
For those curious, the pieces weren't pewter, instead being made of some form of rubber, you can play as Bulbasaur, Charmander, Blastoise, Pikachu, Clefairy and Mewtwo.
Rolling doubles also got you certain perks. Double 1: Use Abra's teleport to go anywhere on the board. Double 2: Use Clefairy's rest and collect $200 Double 3: Pick up a Pokemon Trainer card (Community Chest) Double 4: Pick up a Professor Oak card (Chance) Double 5: Bulbasaur used Leech Seed, collect $50 from every player Double 6: Battle a trainer for one of their properties (Roll dice, highest roll wins)
@Williant: There are quite a few original sets out at the moment, Monster Fighters and some Alien Conquest one I believe. My son collects them because he avoids most of the licensed stuff.
Also I think we can bear in mind that the last LEGO Zelda project was:
#1: Quite ambitious compared to this Iron Knuckle set #2: Was canned before LEGO City Undercover came out, a Nintendo published game
And as a separate 3rd point, as Thomas pointed out, Nintendo are moving ahead and being a bit more lenient with getting their brand out there. I know you can already get Mario Megabloks (eww) so having Zelda LEGO won't be a far stretch in my opinion.
I wasn't a fan of this game, the random tasks you were set to do didn't work the way they should have and took a lot away from the game and the story itself.
Jese_1: As a kid I played through it over 20 times, I believe once I download it for the Wii U, if my calculations are correct, will be the 26th time I've played through it, so yes, it's good
Nintendo are a company that prides itself on its genuine safe online interactions. If you want to abuse programs such as these this is what you have to expect.
Wanna send a picture of your wang to someone? There's about a million other devices that can do that.
I think Nintendo should have ditched Nintendo Land as the pack-in game personally and put Nintendo EAD Tokyo onto making the next 3D Mario game as a launch title, even if it meant delaying the Wii U by a few months and selling it early 2014.
It would have at least shown Nintendo is serious about making the "core" games, as the casual crowd have since moved on from the Wii onto their phones and tablets.
"Of course Pokémon don't exist in real life, they come from our imaginations [laughs] but we want to make creatures that are believable enough that could exist in real life!"
Nice article! My kids love playing games too, usually we play multiplayer stuff such as Nintendo Land and the LEGO games.
My son's always drawing Zelda stuff though, and my daughter can kick my butt at Donkey Kong Crash Course (it took her 3 days to master it, she was 6 at the time).
I'm trying to wrap my head around this. Does this indicate that Gamestop kept copies of the game away from consumers, then when the game went out of print, brought a bunch out and labelled them "used" at what I'm guessing is $90 USD, which is $40 more than your usual Wii title there, right?
The Australian version will work fine for all those in Europe, if anyone's wondering (parental controls don't get affected by the different ratings system either).
I've had it since launch day, wonderful game, I'd definitely import it from Australia if you're definitely keen on Scribblenauts.
"I think the way it shakes out is, anyone who buys a Wii U who really is a hardcore gamer is going to buy a PS4 or an Xbox One in addition so they can play those third party titles that they love"
Yeah well obviously. We've been doing it since the N64 and Nintendo's been fine.
I wouldn't have minded the ability to load downloaded VC games from within Animal Crossing. That would both make it feel like the Gamecube version while allowing Nintendo to sell VC games from within Animal Crossing.
@HeatBombastic: There's a distinct difference between giving a crap and having an actual ability to do something about it. Working in an egg farm as my first job, the treatment of the chickens there was completely inhumane, but completely legal to do in Australia (at least, at the time, since then restrictions have come in but still not ideal). But you know, I was from a poor family, there was nothing I could do about it, I looked for other work so I didn't have to be subjected to it on a daily basis because it made everyone at work incredibly sad every day, not an ideal environment.
These workers would be placed in similar positions, having to do something because there may not be another choice. Doesn't mean I care any less about them, I just don't have the resources to, you know, change the culture of their country or convince Iwata that something needs to be done. So yeah, to say you don't give a crap about poor working conditions in other countries is a pretty harsh thing to say.
All I said was that I was shocked, by saying they don't know the subject implies that they didn't read the article at hand. Thomas put enough there to at least show everyone what's going on and come to a decision.
I personally thought this game looked pretty epic, Retro won't disappoint, trust me. This is honestly the first negative impression I've read so far, so I'll take it with a grain of salt, DKCR doesn't seem to be the author's cup of tea, and that's fine. I gave Velocity Ultra three out of five stars on the website I write for, and that gets rave reviews elsewhere.
Strange? The N64's is the best one I've ever used (save for the crunchiness of the stick), would be even better if it had a second analogue stick where the C buttons were
@GamerJunkie: Please don't speak on behalf of all adults, you've got it so wrong it's not funny. Most I know don't PC game as relaxing on the couch after a hard days work is much better on the body than sitting in a computer chair staring at a smaller screen from up close. It's why you see games like Arkham City selling 10x the amount it sells on consoles.
The pack shot Warner Bros. supplied us has the DLC sticker on the Wii U edition, and EB Games are advertising that the DLC is available for Wii U preorders.
A lot of times people will buy a game when it comes out or gets cheaper. Used games is the only way I can go back and pick up some old PS3 games not being made anymore.
Microsoft is essentially ignoring these people unless they plan to have every game on XBLA, then in that case is 500GB truly enough space?
The 360 couldn't emulate all Xbox games properly, anyway. There's more to it than what he's saying, but why pour tonnes of resources into something they don't believe their fan base will use anyway?
Nintendo see it as a selling point, and most people I know utilise the feature, so it makes sense for the Wii U to do it.

Thanks.

I'm almost intrigued in this, except I like to own physical Mario games
