This is not surprising whatsoever. I'm going to assume this will reach around five million units sold in the next few years. It's Animal Crossing after all.
@GameLord08
You do realize that everyone knows Call of Duty doesn't innovate the formula? Not even games like Bioshock or Battlefield innovate the gameplay formula.
I've played through more then half of the campaign of COD4. The level design was terrible, bland & created many extremely linear 1 dimensional moments except for a few levels(Very FEW Levels).
You're completely missing where I'm getting at. The entire point of Call of Duty is its stellar multiplayer. Which, by the way, is superb. Much better than any FPS out there, even Perfect Dark.
A.I. was straight forward in every COD, with a few programmed reactions in comparison to PD/T2/HL2. A.I. lacked depth from every COD experience I've had so far. Nothing special.
What are we talking about again? The AI in all three of those games are nowhere near modern standards. You're lying to yourself.
Half Life 2 was linear but had many ways to fight through a level by using your environment in various ways, branching path ways that reconnected to main pathways, Many different enemies/A.I behavior along with each one using specific different types of weapons, & revolutionary physics engine that created new gameplay possibilities.
Call of Duty isn't about the offline experience. But it does appeal most of what you're saying. And if Black Ops II has anything to say, its clearly innovating the linear follow me missions most FPSs retain.
That I have to admit was the only thing keeping me playing COD online for awhile, but not for long.
I have a feeling you've never played Call of Duty before. Or at least not long enough.
@Tsuchiya That boring stale series perfected its own genre, became the fastest selling game series of all time, and the biggest reserved gaming franchise to date.
Must be completely boring, you're right. ZZZzzzzzz
I was talking mostly about actual innovation related to gameplay mechanics, customizable options, originality, immensely creative A.I. design, weapon functions, level design, and just about everything else from the 3 games I used to compare what COD lacks.
None of those games retain any of what you claim. Originality? No. Creative AI design? You mean realistic AI? Call of Duty does. Weapon functions and level design is a huge check indeed.
Have you played, say, Call of Duty 4? Its level design is off the charts fantastic. No flaws, excellent balance. Its sequel also have a surplus of weapon and perk customizations/combinations.
Who truly cares who was the first at doing anything? IW succeeded with flying colors and ignited a phenomenon. What did Half Life 2 do exactly?
I think I'll take this review for granted. Congrats Philip, you are the only reviewer in three years to convince me to purchase a game based on your review alone.
I honestly couldn't disagree more with this review.
However if you’re an adult looking for a game to play alone - or you’re a hardcore gamer looking for something that demands a higher level of strategy and skill - it would be recommended that you hitch a ride with Mario or Captain Falcon instead.
While it may be on the easy side for the most part, Kirby Air Ride has its fair share of difficult (but mostly rewarding), moments. And did I mention the achievement system? It's great, btw.
So because Capcom has yet to put online into a portable Monster Hunter, that automatically indicates no chances for the 3DS sequel to have it? I don't think so.
For the most part this was a great read. But it's as if the writer played through Sunshine and took notes on the levels he was struggling on just for an article like this. Of course, I agree on just about every you brought up except this one:
it’s the classic platforming areas where Shadow Mario robs you of FLUDD which are often criticised for being overly difficult.
Those levels aren't "overly difficult". They're fair, it just takes some trial and error to overcome them.
How is Super Metroid "loved by a few"? It's actually one of Nintendo's most acknowledged titles. And it wasn't that revolutionary gameplay-wise. Whereas Metroid Prime is/was.
Kirby Air Ride is one of the best games on the Cube and anyone who has yet to play it, is missing out badly. Canvas Curse is way too expensive for my budget. Which saddens me because I'm a diehard Kirby fan.
So this and Animal Crossing are coming out in 2013? It's quite obvious outside of Paper Mario and a few other first party titles, that the 3DS is more or less relying on third party support this holiday season.
That and Nintendo is probably preparing for a smooth launch for the Wii U.
I'm also sure that you've got no data or research to say just how much damage Nintendo would do to the Mario brand if it an official "core" Mario game to be perceived as "budget" priced.
Everytime he says this I think to myself: "You have no data to back yourself up either, lol." lol
Call of Duty Black Ops — I got to play with my buds like always. Nothing like cracking jokes and going on 45 winstreaks every night. Did I mention trolling the awful community?
Pilotwings Resort — Really enjoying this relaxing game. On the Silver cup.
Wario Land Shake It! — Everything is 100% complete except the last boss and his three missions. Believe me, it is pretty f***ing hard!
@tbd
Why would I be offended by that? All I'm saying is that it could be an easier to way to find a nice, short answer to a problem your facing with your current game. And potentially substitute internet forums.

Re: Two Brothers Developer Speaks Of Nintendo In Glowing Terms
@RevolverLink
Probably due to the Wii U's power. It's a very attractive console to indie developers.
I'm looking forward to Two Brothers. Sounds promising in its own way.
Re: Microwave 'Artist' Returns to Melt a Wii U
He pays $350 for a console, microwaves it, and sells it for $3000 on eBay.
Yeah, and he's the idiot.
Re: Review: ZombiU (Wii U)
@Malic
I've never played Skyrim but I know what you're getting at, lol.
Re: Review: ZombiU (Wii U)
@CosmicMii
Yeah Nintendo Life, why play the game for hours and write a well written review when you can just stick a fat number on it and call it day?
Re: Sumo Digital: Mario Kart Could Learn From Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
If Mario takes a leaf from this game, will it turn him into hedgehog Mario?
I always thought a leaf would turn Mario into a Tanooki.

People who enjoy Call of Duty.
Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Live Streaming Confirmed, But Not on Wii U
Took over 7+ COD games just to barely do what Perfect Dark/Turok 2/ Half Life 2 already did over 8-14 years ago.....
Wait, Half Life 2, Perfect Dark, AND Turok 2 perfected online multiplayer long before Call of Duty?
Way to blow my mind.

Re: Gangnam Style Confirmed for Just Dance 4

I believe that was the joke.
As for JD4, I'm excited. I haven't played Just Dance since 2 (never played 1), so here's hoping 4 is as magical, lol.
Re: Want to Know Why Rayman Legends is a Wii U Exclusive?
Incredible. Its nice to see such dedication from a worthy developer.
Hoping it's better than Origins, lol.
Re: Nintendo: There's No Such Thing As Too Much Mario
@Gridattack
I don't know what you're trying to say. Mario has more content? No. Mario is rehashed every year? Yes.
Re: Mutant Mudds Deluxe Blasting Onto Wii U
Yes! More overrated mediocrity!
Re: Nintendo: There's No Such Thing As Too Much Mario
Call of Duty comes out every year = Sin.
Mario comes out multiple times every year = Godsend.
Go blind nostalgia!
Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Officially Revealed by Activision
COD games just don't have enough content in them
Black Ops has more replay value than your silly runner up adventure game / RPG.
Good for future Wii U owners. Unfortunately, I don't expect it to sell in the millions. lol

Wave Race on Wii U would be tubular.

Fluidiity was by far the best game on WiiWare. Definitely going to buy this.

This is probably going to be one of the best features of the console. In a way, this sort of terminates the purpose of forums.
