Wa-Hoy!

The last time we ran this feature, hype and excitement about the London 2012 Olympics was reaching fever pitch. Now that the Games are finishing for another four years, we've got over how much fun it is to watch athletes do everything we can't and got back to some serious gaming.

It's another giddy mix of titles being fired up on various consoles and handhelds this time, even if a few misguided souls are getting a fix from a system that doesn't have Nintendo branding. Nevertheless, let's get this show on the road.

Successfully Learning English: Year 3 — When it comes to edutainment and Freddy the Vampire, I just can't get enough.

Metroid Fusion — I got a copy of this as a 3DS Ambassador, tried to beat it, got frustrated by one particularly tricky section and flounced off in a bad mood. A number of months have passed so I feel too out of touch with my original save, so if I have any spare time I'll restart and, hopefully, keep the save going until I see the end credits.

Mike Mason

Civilization V (PC) — I've not played a Civilization game in years, but I've got hooked on this in the last few days. I expect I'll be spending some time conquering the world this weekend.

Pokémon Conquest (DS) — And there'll be some slightly less serious conquering with the aid of Eevee and company.

Sound Shapes (Vita) — My most anticipated Vita game is finally out! I can't wait to get making music on this.

Jon Wahlgren

It's going to be a mostly clean-up weekend as I try to pack for a cross-country move with the fiance.

Super Mario 3D Land — Gotta get those five stars on my save file!

Saints Row: The Third — I finished this a while ago and felt compelled to return to Steelport and take it over completely. I'm well on my way towards getting my first Platinum trophy too, which is mad exciting.

Star Fox 64 3D — Because, why not.

Corbie Dillard

New Super Mario Bros. 2 — This one is easily one of my most anticipated games of the year and I'm lucky enough to have an advance copy, so it's pretty much a no-brainer that I'll be squeezing as much time into this game as I can muster this weekend. Maybe it will hold me over until Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon hits!

Sound Shapes (Vita) - This is one I've been looking forward to since I first read about it last year. Got a short crack at it back at E3, but it only left me wanting more. I'm planning on spending Sunday evening with this baby.

Desiree Turner

After taking part in a Mario round-table (coming this weekend) I'm in the mood for a Mario marathon of some sort. I think I'll pound my way through Super Mario Bros. 3 or Super Mario World (haven't yet decided, maybe both) and then go back to one of my half-finished Super Mario RPG files.

Katy Ellis

Heavy Rain — This weekend will be all about saving young Shaun from the infamous Origami Killer. If you like games with amazing facial detail and plenty of devilishly tricky QTEs then this will be right up your street.

Pullbox (Pushmo) — Okay, I admit I'm quite late to the Pullbox party, but only 22 puzzles in I'm irrevocably gripped (read: stuck).

Philip J Reed

I'll be rekindling my Advance Romance, as I'm currently replaying Metroid Fusion, and will finally try to put a dent in Wario Land 4 as well, which I never got around to playing properly. Fusion is easily one of my favourite Metroid games, so it's always great to revisit, and if Wario Land 4 is half as fun as Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 — which I adored — I'll have a great weekend ahead of me.

Christopher Ingram

I’m headed out of town to play in a disc golf tournament this weekend, but it won’t stop me from getting my game on one bit. I’ll be taking Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure and Sound Shapes (Vita) along with me. While winning the tournament isn’t a guarantee, catchy tunes blaring through headphones into this gamer’s ears definitely is.

Ron DelVillano

Because I'm still in the process of moving (which seems to be the popular trend around NL these days), all of my consoles are packed safely and securely away.

This means that I'll probably end up just playing Left 4 Dead on my computer. Or I'll read a book.

Joe Walker

Pokémon White — Still at it!

Mighty Switch Force! — I finally downloaded this and it's a total blast! It's super tough though, and often leaves me feeling dumb when the puzzles have me stumped!

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune — Despite being a PlayStation 3 owner for quite some time I've never given this a go. I'm enjoying it for sure; the combat is pretty terrible but the game is just so gorgeous I don't care!

Gaz Plant

Race Driver: GRID (PC) - After this week's announcement that my favourite racing game of all time is getting a much deserved sequel, I felt it was time to revisit this classic racing game. I'm pleased to report that it's still as good as ever.

FIFA 12 (PC) - After almost a year with the game, I'm starting to get the hang of the new tactical defending. That doesn't mean I'm a fan though...

Morgan Sleeper

I'm back home with my consoles for the first time in over a year, so I'm looking forward to some big-screen gaming this weekend: Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Rayman Origins for a start, and Kirby's Return to Dreamland co-op! I can't stay away from my trusty 3DS for too long though - I'm making it my mission to 'A' the last 4 scenes in Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure and unlock the final chapter!

That's our weekend gaming plans wrapped up in a nice bow, but what games will you be playing?
