@GannonBanned This is why I love SNES library. I disagree that Zombies is #1, but it was such a fun, weird, unique game that I can totally see why it is your favorite. It seems like the SNES library is filled with games like this, in the sense that they weren't viewed as megahits but everyone that played them loved them.
@urrutiap I wasn't expecting anyone to bring up Eye of the Beholder (a game I really love). If you played the the PC version, the SNES version was a bit rough. Nevertheless, a really fun game!
The SNES library is so stacked. Going through the list I kept seeing titles I would expect to be better ranked, but as I kept going generally each title arguably belongs where they are (with 1 exception IMO). Being ranked 25 or 30 on this list is no shame. There were just that many great games.
My biggest surprise was seeing Turtles in Time in the top 10. It was a fun game that I loved at the time, but IMO the only title that didn't belong in the top 10. The top 5 were pretty much my top 5, but not in the same order. I would have gone:
I appreciate that we can give a score to each game, rather than explicitly ranking them. Several games deserve a score of 10: Super Metroid, ALTTP, SMW, FF6, Chrono Trigger, and some others.
@Dodger I love the original Metroid and I believe it was revolutionary for its time. That said... it really doesn't hold up well. 8 year old me didn't mind ceaseless farming and getting lost, but playing it now is rough. Besides, Zero Mission is such a fantastic reimagining of the orignal NES game that there is almost no reason to revisit the original.
It would be so awesome if Nintendo did a similar reimagining of the Adventure of Link.
@sikthvash I grew up with Zelda 2, and Nostalgia is probably the only reason I like it. If I try to look at it objectively, it was probably not a great game even when it came out. I don't think you are missing much by not playing it. You can still be a true Zelda fan and not like the adventure of link.
In addition to the images of all the good looking young adults playing the switch in cool locations, I wish they would have just one shot of a regular slob carrying it into the bathroom.
@BlueOcean Yeah this is great. I've been eyeing a second system for myself because the kids play our Switch all the time. A cheaper switch lite will be perfect for me.
I'm a bit surprised at some of the folks complaining that this is just the switch without the switch's best feature. I think this is great. I have a switch that is used by the whole family. Now I can buy cheaper ones that I or the kids use away from the TV. Personally, I do nearly all my gaming in handheld mode so it makes sense for me to buy my own personal switch lite in addition to the main switch. This is great. Edit: If I was a single younger adult I would only have the normal switch. I think this new one is for kids and families.
I never had a gameboy or gameboy color. I only began playing GB games on 3DS VC. I find most of them unplayable. Link's Awakening is the only exception so far. What an awesome game! I can't wait for the remake to improve the only flaw that I felt detracted from the game, the ceaseless pausing to change items. Not sold on the art style yet, but I've felt that way before with Zelda games only to love them in the end.
@Pod I definitely understand what you are saying. I love the uniqueness of that game and really wouldn't change much at all. I just want to pause less frequently to select different items, and presumably the remake will help with that.
This game is ripe for a remake, if only because the limited number of buttons on the GB introduced constant pausing to switch items, detracting from an awesome game. I'm not sold on the art style yet, but I've initially griped about the art style in other Zelda games, only to come to love it eventually. So I'll try to withhold judgement for now.
I am a nintendo fan and somewhat of an apologist, but this is nonsense. Doing things differently is fine. However, their voice chat solution is just stupid.
Now that they have released DKCTF deluxe, I'm hoping by 2023 they will release an upgraded version of the 3ds version of DKCR for the successor to the 3ds.
@OorWullie I hope you are wrong. I think there a lot of people like me that are excited to get a great sports game on Switch and don't expect it to match the quality of Xbone and ps4. Both fifa and 2k are a blast on switch. Best mobile versions of sports games ever. Better than I exepcted. I'm still hopeful they will be relatively successful.
This game is great for me. I am never going to own a ps4 or xbone so I am happy to own this on Switch. I don't care that it can't perfectly match the more powerful systems. The switch version is a great game by itself. We're having a blast with it at our house.
I don't see the problem here. The switch version of these games will be graphically inferior to the other consoles, except that it will be portable. Naturally these companies will focus on the massive benefit of the switch version: it's portability. I'm excited these companies are giving switch a fair shot with some very big titles.
I couldn't care less if a few unimportant features are missing. Just give me FIFA 18 on Switch, a head set, a hub, my phone, a wire connecting the headset to the hub, a wire connecting the hub to the switch, and another wire connecting the hub to my phone, and I'm in gaming heaven.
I'm pleased so far. I love the hardware and user interface. It's so smooth and quick. Breath of the Wild and MK8 are great. Obviously more games are needed.
Things are really going to heat up once Nintendo releases that sleek minimalist voice chat setup that enables you to hear both friends and the game audio with only 3 extra chords, a hub, and a headset.
Where is the elegant voice chat accessory? Most companies would probably need 5 or 6 separate devices and 10 or more chords connecting them in order to make voice chat work while playing a game. Nintendo only needs a head set, a phone, a hub, and three extra chords to make voice chat work. Your move, Sony.
This is outstanding. Its like they let their competitor design their voice chat "solution". Hopefully the hub has 3 different proprietary ports so a specific type of chord is required for each
