Re: Valve Responds To 'Switch Vs Steam Deck' Comparisons, Insists It's "Going After" A Different Audience

Are they though? I'm primarily a PC gamer, but I love my Switch. I've picked up a lot of pc ports, but the exclusives are what keep me coming back.

The Steam Deck has absolutely no appeal - why would I play a game at 800p and 30fps when I could play it at 4k and 60Hz+? It's portable, but the battery life is poor and the games won't be remotely optimised for the controls.

@timleon Personally, I find it hard to take something like this on trust, especially given the number of high profile games that haven't lived up to expectations.

The game may be progressing well, but what does that actually mean and how do they expect us to reconcile that with them still having nothing to show? In the absence of anything concrete, people will speculate...

They're putting a lot of work into the Bluetooth driver... I've always assumed it's a controller only chip, as they have better latency, in which case the odds of them adding audio support are 0.

Now I'm not saying this 100% confirms they're working on the Switch Pro, but hurry up and release it Nintendo - we know your game!

I struggle with the idea of game streaming at the best of times. The Switch is a hybrid portable, so it's a safe bet you won't be streaming on the move. Even with 5g, you're at the mercy of phone coverage.

On a home system, you need enough bandwidth for gaming and whatever media streaming someone else is doing. That means a high speed connection, which isn't necessarily cheap

I could see an argument that it lets you have a cheap system for the kids, but does it? A last gen console or a download only console would make more sense there when you factor in the fibre upgrade.
