@Reigestugatensho They could have just reused the models, animations etc done for the 3ds games since those models are actually high-res (and downgraded for the 3ds).
@Yorumi Each pokemon is probably not even an actual class. It may very well be that they have a general class "Pokemon" and that has the type, name, etc as attributes. If that was the case (and it could very well be), that data could simply be loaded from a file for each pokemon.
The reasons stated above are NOT valid reasons at all. They could have very well included each pokemon with just a little bit more effort (Pokémon generates great incomes, so it would have been feasible from a financial point of view). About the balance of the battle system... It has never been balanced and never will. There will always be a handful of pokemon that get used competitively and that is always gonna be a small percentage of them all. There is really no reason not to include each pokemon aside from saving a buck here and there (maybe adding each pokemon would have required them to switch to the 32 gigs card, thus reducing their profit). I'm very disappointed by this choice: they let us wait for 2 years for pokemon switch just to bring a half baked game? Megaevolutions and z-moves are not implemented in the new games (even though they would have been great in addition to the dynamax mechanic) and not every pokemon will be usable... I'm not even sure I will actually buy the game.
I really really look forward to dynamax, wild areas and raids. I think that raids are an evolution of the mini bosses pokemon in sun/moon. I really really hope they do not kill megaevolutions and z-moves. I think that building a team with those and dynamax would be more interesting. I am worried for the lags and resolution of the game. I just hope it will be a solid 1080p30fps locked.
Edit: wild areas excite me mostly because of the pokemon in the map! Awesome. After the first trailer i was very worried that they would remove this feauture.
I bought some games thanks to digital sales. I've already finished velocity2x, great game, and heartworms, which is good but nothing compared to the likes of grim fandango. Now i am currently playing violett, which is sometimes hard but beautiful and inspired. It's something like alice in wonderland.
Why is Celeste ranked lower than Hollow Night and Horizon Chase Turbo?
Also, why is MK8DX ranked lower than Horizon Chase Turbo?
Moreover, why is pokemon let's go ranked far lower than many other indie games? I mean, they are most certainly good, but better than pokemon? I doubt that. Also, I think Disgaea 5 is ranked too low: it's awesome. Mario Kart 8 is better than odyssey in my opinion.
@NintendoFan4Lyf I see, thanks for the information. Do you think that learning game maker studio 2 is worth the effort? I don't plan on creating a 3d game anytime soon, but a 2d one... I mean, undertale was created in gm right?
I've just got home from the cinema. It's a great movie. Really liked the Red reference by the way. I highly recommend this movie to everyone that has ever been a pokemon fan.
@CarlosCoronado actually I don't have any problem coding, as I said I am a computer scientist, in fact I am kinda proficient in coding. What I meant to ask was this: is ue4 easier for coders too?
@CarlosCoronado well congrats for the good work! I see how you feel about trailers. I was trying to learn game maker studio 2 as an entry point to the world of game development. Do you think I should just skip that and move to unreal or unity?
This game appears to have stunning visuals, inspiring scenery, relaxing soundtrack and interesting concept, even though the trailer doesn't make a good job at highlighting the core gameplay mechanics, or maybe it's just that I'm too tired right now to get what the gameplay is like (well, actually, to get what the gameplay is like before I read the comment of the developer explaining some of the mechanics shown in the trailer). A demo on the eshop would be greatly appreciated. @CarlosCoronado how many people worked on the development of the game (programmers, artists etc)? I ask because I am a computer scientist and I am interested in a game development career, even though I am not pursuing one currently (I will start my master's degree in computer science in october).
I am still hoping that they keep the pokemon in the map mechanic introduced in lgpe, it's just so much better to play and the world feels much more alive that way.
@Dpullam Well she likes a lot RPGs, the sims and farming games and portia is a great mix of those genres, according to her. Moreover I think she kinda likes the art style of the game.
My Girlfriend has been trying to talk me into playing portia for months now. Seems I will finally have the chance to actually try it (I could try it on my pc but, even though it would run portia better than the switch, I won't since I greatly prefer switch's portability and controller over a pc).
@Anti-Matter I don't know about the games but Harry Potter movies are probably the best movie saga ever. Extremely good quality movies with deep story and lore and they are suited for both children and adults.
@AlienX yeah the layton games are great, especially those on the DS. Oh, I almost forgot, Grim Fandango on Switch (and pc as well) is great and, even though it is a lot different from Hotel Dusk / Last Window in terms of gameplay, it manages to convey similar atmosphere and vibe.
@AlienX i didn' kmlw about again... I will probably give it a try. Cold case is definitely NOT kyle hyde quality, not even close, but still mot a bad game overall. I played many layton games (all the ds ones) and loved them all so I suggest that you tried them. For some reason I never actually played ace attorney even though many people on foruns and irl recommended it to me. I didn't know about another code being censured/changed. The version you want to play is the japanese or the european? About ghost trick... Well I already played it and loved it. It is definitely a great game but in a different way than the kyle hyde games, in my humble opinion. I remember trying twewy during the ds days but I didn't actually like it. Anyway I also tried hotel dusk and didn't like it so maybe I changed enough in these years to also love twewy.
@AlienX It is a great game. I recently played both hotel dusk and last window on my 3ds and I loved them both. I also played cold case but it was a bit of a disappointment to me. Do you know any other game such as the kyle hide games for nintendo consoles (possibly gba/ds/3ds/switch) or pc? I tried another code but it doesn't appeal to me as much as the kyle hide games.
I would have liked it better if they didn't re-introduce random encounters. The new world looks awesome but it would have probably looked and felt more lively if it had Pokémon wandering around. Still pretty hyped, seems gorgeous.
I'm pretty hyped and scared that tomorrow I will be disappointed, since my expectations are probably way too high because of the already good lgpe and the comparison with a certain switch masterpiece we all know very well...
I am going to play Wargroove campaign. Also I'm trying to finish the last 2 c-sides in Celeste (and trying to get all red strawberries). I will probably also play some detective pikachu on my o3dsxl.
Don't know if it was a drop in resolution in my video (using firestick) but the in-game resolution looked so low... Kinda pixellated, in a bad way. Seems much, much lower than botw resolution (which was fine).
What I'm looking forward to the most is Persona 5, Wind Waker HD, and, most of all, Pokémon!!! Professor Layton would be great too. Anybody would love a new entry in the Hotel Dusk / Last Window series? (I know that CING is dead now).
@Dog since it's been decided by the pokemon company which games are used for the competitive world tournament. I did like lgpe even though they are not as good as usum(the very best pokemon games so far), still they are not mainline. The fact that game freak mentioned keeping the letsgo series in parallel to the core series is another proof.
I think that they didn't sell as much as mainline pokemon games because they are not mainline pokemon games. They are just spinoffs from game freak. Don't get me wrong, they are fun and all but they are not mainline and the fact that the competitive scene is still officially focused on usum proves it.
@Peach64 I remember when a friend of mine lent me minish cap for gba(sp). It was so good even though I didn't actually finish it. Last year I encouraged my girlfriend to play it and now she is just a mistress of that game. I mean she 100%ed it 3 or four times. She even completed all the kinstones ahah.
@dugan yeah it sucks. Actually I had a problem woth the right joycon side buttons and led but Mediaworld (a big tech store franchise in Italy) asked me to send the whole switch. Otherwise I would have just bought a second pair of joycons, something I've been thinking about doing since I bought my switch, to keep playing while they repaired the broken one. Well I guess they lost 80€ from me. Still I'm grateful in a way because now I have time to play some 3ds gems I always had the intention to but never actually played.

What I would really like to see and would probably buy day 1, in no particular order.

Re: Feature: Best Nintendo Switch RPGs
@Crono1973 exactly, it's inside the intersection of the set of RPGs and the set of strategy games. At least that's how I see it.
Re: Feature: Best Nintendo Switch RPGs
@Crono1973 it is kinda an rpg game because it has deep leveling system for characters, weapons, skills, etc. This is my opinion.
Re: Feature: The Best Nintendo Switch RPGs
Disgaea 5, a beautiful game, is kinda of an RPG in my opinion and I greatly advice anyone that likes turn based strategy rpg to try it out.
