Re: Review: Shantae - A Dated Dance That Completes The Set On Switch

AndreaF96

@AlienX Actually porting emulators is not just about recompiling the code for another target. Usually a lot of code needs to be rewritten to change api calls or to support different instruction sets. Porting emulators with dynarec is difficult for this very reason. The guy is definitely a very skilled programmer: fore the OG XBox he implemented a pagination system that allowed emulators that he ported to play roms that were larger than the amount of ram of the XBox. I didn't play the shantae game but the fact that he is a homebrew developer does not mean that he is not capable of pulling this off.

Re: Ori Director Criticises "Snake Oil Salesmen" Behind No Man's Sky, Cyberpunk, And Fable

@JoeyTS I agree with you about the fact that journalists shouldn't tell you how you should feel about something. They should just point out important facts (which you may have missed or forgotten about) related to the news along with it. These days journalists (not just game journalists) almost never do it. Serious youtubers do it far more than journalists.
Still, I don't believe the original comment, as it was phrased, was rude.

Re: Ori Director Criticises "Snake Oil Salesmen" Behind No Man's Sky, Cyberpunk, And Fable

@KateGray Yeah, the problem is that you wrote it just because someonelse in the industry said something. The reality is that journalists (not just game journalists) seldom hold people accountable these days. I very rarely see something like "but remember that x years ago they did/said y which completely disagrees with what they are saying now" here on Nintendolife and, in fairness, in any other website where "journalists" write.

Re: Ori Director Criticises "Snake Oil Salesmen" Behind No Man's Sky, Cyberpunk, And Fable

@UndercookedBacon he did not insult. He argomented sufficiently well. And I agree with him. Journalism means keeping power (in this case game companies) accountable for what they do and say. It doesn't seem to me that it is what happens here or in any other mainstream game related website. There is nothing wrong in what Nintendolife does, in my opinion. It's just that it isn't journalism.

Re: Random: Miss Nintendo Directs? Check Out This Crowd-Pleasing 'Nontendo Direct' Presentation

AndreaF96

@johnvboy I never said that the game is universally hated (because it isn't) or even that the majority hated it. I'm just saying that there is a significant amount of people that are deeply disappointed by it. As you stated sales are never an indication of the quality of a product. And in this case, since most of the sales were from kids (no offence to kids, we all have been kids) this is particularly true, imho.

@TG16_IS_BAE I and the other people I know would have been fine with a game that didn't add a lot of new stuff but kept all the old stuff. Instead they removed the stuff that was in 40€ games on the 3ds, and sold it separately as dlc of a game that costs 60€. Moneygrabbing with no attention to quality and no respect for fans. Of course kids will buy it regardless of all this. I would have too.

Re: Nintendo Targets Switch Modchip Installation Service In Latest Legal Crackdown

Ok an example to clear the problem for stubborn people. User A owns an object. The object belongs to A. A decided to bring it to B and pay him to modify the object in a way that adds new features to the object that A owns. B does it and gets paid for his work. Piracy? No I was talking about people that have their cars modded to make them go much faster than they were supposed to. You can totally do that. If you bought an object it is yours and you can have it modified as much as you want.

Re: People Keep Buying The Wrong Pokémon Sword And Shield DLC

AndreaF96

@TheFullAndy not by me. My complaint about SWSH has been that it is just an half game made just to grab money with the least effort possible. And the fact that they removed pokemon to be able to then add them as a separate dlc proves that. But I don't want to start that discussion all over again. I respect your opinion anyway.

P.S.: I did not buy SWSH, I borrowed it from a friend.

Re: People Keep Buying The Wrong Pokémon Sword And Shield DLC

AndreaF96

@TheFullAndy You are, because you are implying that adults should not buy kids games for themselves. Most nintendo games are kids games. You may very well dislike pokemon games, but saying that you don't like them because they are kids games is, well, strange in a Nintendo "fan" site.

Re: People Keep Buying The Wrong Pokémon Sword And Shield DLC

AndreaF96

@TheFullAndy that means that the joke is even more effective than I thought it would be

EDIT: try Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon. They are, IMHO, the best pokemon games out there.
EDIT2: I have finished Pokémon Sword too but it's not as good as USUM. Mainly because its lack of post game content and because it lacks half of pokemon.

Re: People Keep Buying The Wrong Pokémon Sword And Shield DLC

@TheFullAndy According to Cambridge dictionary: sarcasm ->
"remarks that mean the opposite of what they say, made to criticize someone or something in a way that is amusing to others but annoying to the person criticized". I guess the definition is right...

EDIT: Moreover, did you know that you can make a joke without actually believing the joke?
