Yoshi exists alongside humans (or at least pseudo humans) meaning he exists in our present or our future. Nothing is categorized as a 'thunder lizard' anymore, only reptile. Because his size is comparable to a human, and crocodiles are also reptiles and larger than a yoshi, we can only assume he would also be categorized as a lizard. Sorry Yoshi, you just can't recreate the category of 'dinosaur' on your own.
Oh, and if you want to argue that he evolved from dinosaurs, I have already solved that conundrum for you by mentioning crocodiles. He is a reptile, probably something like a chameleon due to the way he eats and because of his color changing nature.
I will buy every single one of them. My son can play if he's good. I can just imagine how awesome a Hyrule Castle set would be. A Lego Zelda video game could be pretty sweet too!
I really hope this pushes Nintendo to make a console that blows PS4 and Xbox One right out of the water. They need the graphical prowess and functionality of their competitors if they want to grab the attention of anyone besides their faithful following. If Nintendo can make a console that is better than MS and Sony's AND include the Nintendo difference they will reach industry highs like they did back in the SNES days. Bluray player included please.
@JaxonH While I would agree that completely digital is where things are going, the real seller is having everything in one box. That's what Alucard83 is saying. Bluray would also have been a key way to differentiate Wii U from Wii since everyone knows that Wii doesn't even play DVD's ('less you gotz the Homebrew). If you can say 'yeah' every time someone asks: "Does it have _____." then you have a product everyone will want to buy. I don't hate my Wii U, but it could have definitely been better, and people do watch Bluray when they want ultra premium.
As a person who receives free pizza from a pizza place that is considered the best in town each and every day I work, I can honestly say if I get one of these I will attempt to sell it. Deek's Pizza FTW!!!
@Rafie Sure there would be hurdles to overcome and I wouldn't expect a product to hit the market for at least 2-3 years, but I do hope Nintendo can step things up next time around. The way I see it, they've been suffering from poor 3rd party support for all these years solely because of the hardware being used, and I'm not talking about graphics. Super NES was the last Nintendo console capable of handling every 3rd party that felt like developing for it. N64 had the cartridge problem, which led many developers, like Square, to develop for the higher capacity and lower cost CD format on Playstation. Gamecube got the DVD part right, but failed to make them full size discs capable of handling larger games. Wii finally had the storage space to support larger games, but it lacked the graphical prowess to play the games developers wanted to make and also pretty much shunned classic controller design in favor of the Wiimote and Nunchuk. Finally, Wii U is here and they almost got it right in my opinion. No analog triggers was a huge misstep since driving games rely heavily on them and they can be used for so many other things. Also, they went with a touchpad that frustrates the average tablet user because everyone is used to capacitive touch nowadays (except for me). Add to all this the fact that Nintendo consoles have never supported CD/DVD/Bluray playback and you have a reason why they were beaten out in the years since SNES. Wii U is a nice little console if you ask a solid Nintendo gamer like myself, but, as with pretty much every Nintendo console after SNES, there are solid arguments against at least one or two of the hardware choices made.
I simply ask the question: What would happen if Nintendo made a console that was functionally agreeable in every way? I really think people would have a hard time passing up a console that played every 3rd party game they ever wanted along with all of Nintendo's best, on a system that would also serve as their Bluray player and media center. Those are just the basics. Social media is huge nowadays and Nintendo is trying to make Miiverse easily accessible via touch device which I applaud, but they could take things a step further and create a large-scale app that allowed players to use their phones or tablets as controllers and extra screens. Nintendo is trying too hard to be the touch device when they should just embrace the ones that exist already.
Even though I'm way at the bottom here and no one will ever read my comment I just want to say that while I have been enjoying what Nintendo has been doing with the Wii U, I hope it gets axed sooner rather than later. Nintendo needs that slap in the face to wake them up and show them which direction they need to go in. They have the finances to pull another console straight out of their butts, and I can guarantee if the Wii U doesn't get traction soon, they'll have to do just that, and it will be more functional and a more powerful machine than either Xbox One OR PS4 because it will have to be.
Another failed game on the way. Even if there is a crowd for it, that crowd would be ten times as big on Wii U if they put in the extra work and finished the thing. Wii U would be doing so much better right now if developers would just get their heads out of their bungholes. I can understand the constraints, but they shouldn't even spend the resources on a Wii U release if they're going to lop off half of it and make the other half look just a little bit better.
@lex0plex It is fully capable of doing so, but the best performance is attained at the 720p level for the more complex games and that's why I chose to single out that resolution. Think about it, 1080p contains more than twice as many pixels as 720p, therefore it makes sense to give the GPU other tasks than just rendering a higher resolution. 720 is still pretty good, and since the Wii U doesn't have any anti-aliasing for 1080, it makes sense to use the lower resolution. Some games, like Toki Tori 2 and I think Scribblenaughts Unlimited, use the full resolution, but they aren't very taxing games from a technical standpoint, but for games like Pikmin 3 and basically any of the upcoming 3D rendered games, the effects in the environment are going to need more of the GPU to render at 60 frames. As far as Xbox One and PS4 are concerned, having to render in 1080p all the time is going to make the graphics comparison between them and Wii U that much closer.
@element187 Yep, people forget the WiiU does two screens, both at 60fps, one at 720p and the other at just higher than SD while PS3/Xbox 360 usually sacrifice 30fps and usually some of that 720p resolution just to put a little more into the game environment. Nintendo's always been about the framerate, and quite honestly I like it that way.
I thought this WAS coming to other regions beside Japan. Oh, well, their loss. One thing developers putting ports onto WiiU have hit dead on is what people aren't going to buy. There was Mass Effect 3, but they threw that in everyone's face by giving the other consoles the trilogy.
I don't understand all the low self esteem going on. "failed on the trees" "not experienced with color, but did what I could." I was chatting with someone else on Miiverse who used a very effective and balanced color scheme but they also said they sucked with colors. To all of those people who don't think they know enough about drawing, I suggest this magical tool called Google. Ask about color schemes and shading techniques.
I always wonder if reviewers really take into account the price of the product compared to the quality and content. I give this game a 9/10 considering that it will have updates coupled with the sheer usefulness it serves in respect to Miiverse. It's also really easy to use. I took off one point since there is no real layer system, only a fixed layer system, which sucks. Anyone with kids or the desire to draw on Miiverse should get this.
You know, if these people got serious, people might start taking them seriously. To anyone who plays the original Mariokart for 90 hour stretches, God bless your soul.
Let's see: New Super Mario Bros. 2 DLC packs cost $2.50 for three courses. That's roughly 83 cents per course. New Super Luigi U costs $20 ($30 at retail) and features 82 courses making the price per course just over 24 cents apiece (36.5 cents at retail). This different approach seems less about just wanting to do something different and more about creating a better value so more people will buy. They could have sold NSMB2 DLC for a buck a pop and still made more per course than NSLU.
They should charge $.50 apiece instead of selling the whole pack. There might be one that I like, but I don't want to pay for all of them just to get it. Work on that pricing model Gaijin.
Funny how things work. Angry Birds may never have picked up the way it did if he HAD gone through with it. There's no way to tell if the situation could have damaged both franchises.
This is why every company should be run by people who were once simple employees themselves. Iwata and Miyamoto, who make most of the decisions in the company, are both developers themselves who started at much lower positions in the company and know the effects of stupid executive decisions.
I hope they bring back some of the original humor, like those L33T hammer bros. They are so L33T. Bowser's Inside Story just felt like a downgrade for a younger audience to me.
I do agree the Zelda series needs a fresh start, but I don't think being able to play as Zelda is going to do that. My biggest problem in the last two games (Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess) is that everything seems way too deliberate and scripted. I never feel like I stumble upon anything anymore and instead get the feeling I was led there. I went insane trying to find all the hidden grotto's in Ocarina of time and getting items that aren't required seems to be a thing of the past. Sure there were a few things like that Rupee consuming suit in TP and finding the Hylian shield in Skyward Sword, but I'm talking about cool items, like the invisibility cloak from A Link to the Past. There needs to be more optional coolness throughout the game.
Just let us play text files on WiiU. 300 books isn't going to cut it as there are just too many books out there and too many people who have too many different tastes. Although, there is a workaround to read books on the WiiU using the browser. Just use an online file share service like Google Docs and read your books over the internet. Docs is a little clunky on the Gamepad, but I'm sure there are other sites out there that work better.
I have about eight other games to worry about before that comes out so whatever. February, March, April, May. I'll still be playing something when it comes out.
This game is actually better for multiplayer since the levels don't prompt exploration as much as they do just making it through the obstacles. So the only thing you have to tell people is 'hurry up' and not, 'wait, gtf away from that pipe!' I play Nabbit with my son using Luigi and I just play support, it works great.
I'm skeptical. Bowser's Inside Story was just not up to par as far as the rest of the series goes. This is going to take some convincing to get me back on board.
I hope this game is three times as big as the first one or even bigger. I want to play this for a long time.
Oh, and who said what about no new IP's? Shulk and Pit would like a word with you. Since Pikmin 1?!?!? No, people cared about Wii Sports and Wii Fit and probably a few other NEW IP'S that I'm too tired to look up for you. Blind and Deaf is the person who doesn't care about new IP's, and let me tell you, that isn't the bulk of the population.
This is tougher than a lot of people realize. Goku seems like a great choice, one that I wanted, until you think about trying to represent him. Goku relies on his friends for his full identity. If it was up to everyone, the roster would grow into the hundreds and that just isn't feasable. It isn't easy work making a perfect game or a perfect anything.
@dumedum Yeah, it is scheduled for release fall 2014, but is that really when you expect it? If any game gets delayed, it will be this one.
Really? Show some respect for the hard work that this guy puts in. We'll be lucky to get this before fall 2015. Don't rush what's already being rushed.
@Knuckles
You could back everything up on a separate SD card so you don't lose anything if the 3DS stolen. Good luck getting Nintendo to give you those games back though even if the broccoli who stole it was going to reformat your system anyway and pawn it. The only reason I can think of to back that stuff up on the SD card in the 3DS would be if you have kids that might know how to play games but not be able to read the word 'erase' or something to that effect.
Here's hoping they do eventually get a cloud service up and running and also tying games to people, not the systems.
This is very ignorant. The problem with the Wii was that Nintendo used that Wiimote TOO much. I got sick of all the crap and eventually started to crave a few normal experiences here and there. Now it's happening and of course people are complaining. The scrutinizing of Nintendo never seems to end.
Back in the day, I had a Gameboy Advance and used it with the Tingle tuner, but I wanted to have that tuner on a TV in front of me. It became possible when Wii was released and I could use my Gamecube's Gameboy player to light up a small TV next to my big one while playing Wind Waker on the Wii. I'm liking the Gamepad better for this, though.
Here's an unexpected surprise: That giant spider is actually going to be the next game's verson of Navi. That would be ridiculous. Does it follow behind, rampaging everything in its path, or does it gracefully pop out of your sword to chat with you? Both wrong, it flies and shoots missiles and has laser beam eyes. Yeah!
He definitely strikes me as a tequila drinker. Must be nice to be so awesome that you can just stop showing up for work for a week and there isn't any thought of losing that job.
Now I'm wondering whether they made the basic set in the first place just to boost the look of the 32GB model. Then there's the possibility that I've had in mind for awhile that the minds at Nintendo thought they were going to get casual players who owned Wii's before only to find out that all of those people have flocked to tablet and phone gaming so the only people left to buy the console are die hard Nintendo fans. Methinks this is also a reason why we don't have Wii Fit U, like, right now. All speculation of course, but if I'm right it means that Nintendo are about to focus a lot more on the core Nintendo audience in the coming years.
@RaymanFan2 Right, if something bad happens in the Zelda series we just get the messenger treatment like an old Greek play. "Oh, and btw, Ganondorf has killed thousands in a move too graphic for your virgin eyes." That's basically the jist of it.
@Jazzer94 Are the controls even tight enough without buttons? Since you actually have both, I'm interested to know if the touch only version can actually stand up to buttons. The snap feeling when the button comes down and the fact that there is actually something there is huge for staying oriented in my opinion. Plus, this game calls for very tight and responsive controls.
I've been waiting to try a platformer with the pro controller. That controller is meant for greatness and I can't wait until everyone starts utilizing it.
It's a good deal if you do a lot of Flipnote. I'd rather pay something like $5 up front for the entire thing and everything after that is either earned or free, but if they include a FULL color palette with thousands or millions of colors and tons of features then it could be a good value to pay monthly. Need constant persistent updates too. As long as they keep working to make it better instead of sitting back and collecting monies all day then it should be fine.

It became possible when Wii was released and I could use my Gamecube's Gameboy player to light up a small TV next to my big one while playing Wind Waker on the Wii. I'm liking the Gamepad better for this, though.
Re: Aonuma: Zelda For Wii U Will Contain More Unexpected Elements
Here's an unexpected surprise: That giant spider is actually going to be the next game's verson of Navi. That would be ridiculous. Does it follow behind, rampaging everything in its path, or does it gracefully pop out of your sword to chat with you? Both wrong, it flies and shoots missiles and has laser beam eyes. Yeah!
Re: Video: Reggie Fils-Aime Posts E3 Welcome Message For Fans
Is it just me, or does it look like Reggie dropped 20 lbs/10kg. I guess his body really is ready for this E3.
Re: Don't Look Now, But There Could Be A New Shaq Fu Game Inbound
I had the unfortunate opportunity to play Shaq Fu at a friendly tournament. I lost because I couldn't stop laughing at how terrible it was.
Re: Call Off The Search, Katsuhiro Harada Was At Home Playing Games And Drinking Tequila
He definitely strikes me as a tequila drinker. Must be nice to be so awesome that you can just stop showing up for work for a week and there isn't any thought of losing that job.
"I'm back now, I was just at home drinking." lol
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Is Recalling Wii U Basic Bundle
Re: Guys, This Is How You Make A Live-Action Zelda Movie
@RaymanFan2
Right, if something bad happens in the Zelda series we just get the messenger treatment like an old Greek play. "Oh, and btw, Ganondorf has killed thousands in a move too graphic for your virgin eyes." That's basically the jist of it.
Re: Mutant Mudds Deluxe Will Cost Less Than Ten Bucks
@Jazzer94
Are the controls even tight enough without buttons? Since you actually have both, I'm interested to know if the touch only version can actually stand up to buttons. The snap feeling when the button comes down and the fact that there is actually something there is huge for staying oriented in my opinion. Plus, this game calls for very tight and responsive controls.
Re: Renegade Kid Divulges Mutant Mudds Deluxe Control Options
I've been waiting to try a platformer with the pro controller. That controller is meant for greatness and I can't wait until everyone starts utilizing it.
Re: Flipnote Studio 3D to Hit North America Early August, Subscription Pricing Revealed
