@Star-Blaze Good point. People don't criticize the chair industry when one company comes out with a chair that looks similar to other chairs on the market. It all comes down to ergonomics and the best possible shape for a controller.
Just Klondike? I would have thrown $5 down on a 3D solitaire with more than just Klondike. They should have added a few more like a few different versions of Spider and some Golf or Freecell. Pass.
Only time will tell how the WiiU can compete with MS and Sony in the realm of hardcore games. I like the direction Nintendo is trying to take here, but I also think they are making a mistake by not pushing the bar as far as controller design goes. Analog triggers stick out the most as the most obvious omission. I even heard that there wouldn't be a rumble feature. I can understand not putting motion controls in the pro controller, but maybe they should just to leave that option open. Sure, it would be more expensive, but we're talking about the hardcore crowd here which I believe is willing to drop a few extra dollars for something worthwhile. In the end I'm glad they're releasing a separate controller than just forcing us to use Wiimotes and classic controllers, but they could have done so much more.
You know, I do like gold, but I think it goes better with other things as well, like silver, bronze, and definitely gems. Here's hoping the game contains a little more color than the signature yellow.
Times change, that's part of life. Nintendo has been in the console business for over 25 years now and that's the only business they run, alongside the software they publish for their consoles of course. Nintendo could simply wither and die of old age like that home made pizza joint that's been around forever that goes out of business because the owners just can't do it anymore. They could also find new talent (someone new and equally as talented) to run the business or even change directions like they did getting into video games from those hanafuda cards or whatever they're called. Nothing is forever, not even Nintendo.
I've never played a console like WiiU and I'm really looking forward to what it can do to make games better and more engaging. I'm also hoping they give us the option to use that Pro Controller whenever the heck we want to instead of pushing the tablet on everyone all the time.
This is the story: WiiU has a mean processor and an HD and 3D capable GPU of which developers have only said good things. Iwata's previous statement that the difference will be less noticeable this time around was enough for me.
You know, the only negative comments I've seen are either from 'developers' who prefer to remain anonymous, People who are expected to hate Nintendo (Pachter, Microsoft, etc.) or whiners that don't want to get used to a new console's infrastructure (Tekken director). Almost every single comment from developers working on games for the system say it's great and it has so many possibilities and a lot of power. It is going to be a great system and I'm going to be a part of that. End of story.
@Squiggle55 The only difference is that the resolution of the video would almost definitely be higher on the TV. Try looking at your 3D picture files on a computer and you'll see two files, one is a standard viewable .jpg and the other is actually just another picture. It would be about the same with a 3D video.
I can't for the life of me understand why they tried making sports games for such limited systems. I'm a 3DS ambassador so I have at least tried this game and it's probably about as good as it gets for what was possible on the NES, which isn't saying much. It might be worth a dollar, but I wouldn't pay anything more for it.
This all sounds pretty good to me. PS+ is a really nice program for people who want to get the most bang for their buck as far as downloads go and I think Nintendo and its consumers could benefit from a similar program. As long as they don't go the route of Xbox and charge for simple access then everything should be fine.
@mamp I wouldn't worry about that. 3G is online isn't it? Plus, that's one of the bigger draws to the MH series. Hopefully they can make good use of Nintendo Network when that comes online for 3DS.
@Mahe I could see people complaining if the original model had dual circle pad control integtrated, but it didn't, and some people simply don't want to buy something bulky. Nintendo is obviously cutting costs right here so they can sell to more people, casual and hardcore. If they added another circle pad and two extra shoulder buttons it would likely cost and extra $20 for the console too. I don't think Nintendo wants to alienate the 3DS small version with the XL, but rather give people another option. Plus, I really like the handles and extra bulk of the pro add-on.
I completely understand the linup of games coming out and am actually quite surprised at how robust it is. What I can't for the life of me understand is why they would skimp out on the hardware, more specifically, the controls (you thought I meant graphics, didn't you?). They've added clickable analog sticks to their controllers, great, but that is now industry standard, as is analog triggers, but they don't have those. Dual analog is industry standard, but 3DS XL failed to show that. I can even understand why they would do this for 3DS, but there is no excuse for skimping on a console's controls which hasn't even been released yet. I've also heard that there is no rumble in the pro controller for WiiU; unacceptable.
Fine Reggie, I get it, fans are generally insatiable, but all I'm asking for is what every other console gets in a control scheme and also what Gamecube, a freaking 10-year-old console, had. Sure, take the blue ocean tactic of surprise and innovation, but at least make par while you're at it.
If you trade in your old 3DS, will they wait for you to complete a system transfer first? I guess I always keep my consoles because even if I don't use them I can still give them to my little brothers.
On the subject of what this could mean for WiiU, I don't think they'll include HDMI since it's pretty standard for companies not to. They'll have to include at least a new power cable though since the machine is going to require a different adapter. When I saw the 3DSXL I thought it would be over $200; I think this proves that WiiU won't be over $300.
Now all they need is, um, GPS like all other devices. Anyway I don't really see the point in this since I'm usually on the ball in knowing when I'm home or not. Of course, I have been pretty smashed once or twice and kind of lost track. I don't think I need a console to tell me I'm home.
I kinda hope they still have those nasty looking little dudes in the game somewhere, even if it is just an easter egg or something. Maybe they'll be the cause of the outbreak.
With a new system comes a new controller and new possibilities. I'm personally looking forward to exploring some of these possibilities with ZombiU. Using the touch pad as my gear and equipment is pure genius and will no doubt be the reason this game will be terrifying. I recall some Nerf wars I played in and the hardest thing about having a large loadout was figuring out the best way to store everything on my person. Getting caught fumbling with your gear made for some of the most intense moments and that is what I hope is recaptured by this game.
@drumsandperc92 The name makes more sense if you understand Ubisoft's past. Their first game was simply called Zombi without the 'e'. So this is actually a reboot even more than a new IP.
I tried the Arkham Asylum demo on PS3, but I couldn't justify a purchase. There are just too many games to buy this day and age. I remember when all I had was an N64 and pretty much every purchase was a no-brainer. I love what I see, but in all honesty I hope the market slows down some.
My interest for COD has diminished greatly since I started playing around the time MW2 launched. I still like to fire up a good game of zombies now and then though. I'm still glad to see this coming to WiiU just because another hardcore game will be another reason for people not to ignore it.
It definitely is true that somewhat of a limit has been reached as far as making games look better. Just take SW:TOR and Diablo 3 for example. They aren't exactly 'next-gen' and they're PC only games as it stands which is kind of a violation considering how PC is said to harbor the highest graphical standard in the gaming industry. Even if the next MS/Sony boxes are raw powerhouses I don't think it will matter much since I won't have much to complain about with the Wii U being as powerful as it is.
The best use of that extra screen I can think of is to simply have a full sized map right there to look at whenever you want to. I play a lot of GTA IV online in the Mafia Work mode and it is generally really helpful to look at the full map so I can see exactly where my objectives are, but I also lose precious seconds every time I open up the pause menu and then I have to accelerate my vehicle when I'm finally done glancing at the map.
The other thing I'm interested in is seeing this thing in action in an fps game with the new Zapper. You'll get my meaning if you watch the ZombiU gameplay trailer where the player is looking down a sniper scope to take out a baddie. The key improvement to the system here is that you can simultaneously keep an eye on the action on the big screen while using the touch screen as your scope. In fact, I wonder if it would be best to just keep all ADS views on the small screen. Holy crap! I just had an awesome insight! The small screen could just be a camera like it was attached to your gun and would move like that panorama view demo while the main screen would show what you were really looking at.
Main screen = what your eyes see Small screen = what your gun sees
I'm kind of surprised that NSMB2 didn't do better, but I guess if given the choice, I would have to say Paper Mario and Luigi's Mansion 2 excite me the most. I'm just glad we have this many great games to look forward to just this year!

Ok that was three, but basically if they didn't do this then people would view the full presentation with the same misconceptions that they left with last year or they wouldn't even pay attention to the show.
Another thing: Nintendo is going to show us the console and probably tell us exactly what it can do. Why release this information early? Probably because they are sitting on a boatload of games that they will want to focus on during the actual show. We all know it all comes down to the games and so does Nintendo.
You're the only one that's going to suffer if you don't get it. I don't get how anyone in Europe could whine about a game like this coming late when we Americans had to wait for freaking ever to get Xenoblade. We haven't even gotten The Last Story yet. Just chill and show some patience.
The death of the Dreamcast followed the failure of the Saturn. If Nintendo is to die, it will come after WiiU fails; IF it fails. In my personal opinion, I don't think Nintendo can ever fail or die like Sega did.
We may reach a hardware limit with the tech we currently use, but there are things like quantum computers and holographic storage in the works that will absolutely blow away even the most powerful super computers that we have today. I'm halfway expecting to hear that Nintendo is putting holographic storage units in WiiU at E3 this year since they are partial owners of a company that already has a working prototype (albeit a very expensive one). Another thing on the horizon is a replacement for polygonal models. Particles will be used to make up objects instead of the usual polygon which is exactly how the real world works. In game objects would be so realistic that you wouldn't be able to distinguish them from an actual real world item. Ok, so maybe I'm exaggerating a little by saying that holographic storage will be in WiiU, but I'm not talking out of my a**, I'll put in some links below:
I think I'm going to like this new Wii U controller. I don't think it's possible to really pick a favorite though, since each controller is so different from the last one. I'm usually partial to the newest model, but then there's the fact that Wiimote/Nunchuk is quite different from the Gamecube controller. Yeah, this Wii U controller is going to make me completely content I think since it will finally have everything all in one package.
"days of the shorter, more concise Zelda experiences."
Sorry, those days have never existed. It may be possible to get through one of the older ones in a few hours, but think about when they released and how people trying to beat the game then didn't have access to online resources. There are things about the first two games in particular that would have driven me absolutely mad trying to figure out, like a single bush in the middle of a forest that is no different than any other bush except you can start this one on fire. Zelda II is even more cryptic. I'm simply happy that Zelda games nowadays are filled with enjoyable content all the way to the end and don't leave you guessing for too long. My point here is that older Zelda titles were probably actually longer for most people than modern day Zelda titles, and much less enjoyable.
@grumblebuzzz #11 and anyone else who thinks that way:
WiiU can never go the way of the Dreamcast for one very simple reason: the console before it was successful. Go ahead and compare it to Sega Saturn, but don't compare Nintendo's console to Dreamcast until this one fails and the next one is ready to come out.

Yeah, this Wii U controller is going to make me completely content I think since it will finally have everything all in one package.
Re: Ubisoft to Reveal Wii U Games on 4th June
@DeQuimet
I was about to jump on that one too. Should probably change that in the article.
Re: Talking Point: Should Zelda Go Episodic?
Re: Redesigned Wii U Tablet Controller Is Revealed
@grumblebuzzz #11 and anyone else who thinks that way:
WiiU can never go the way of the Dreamcast for one very simple reason: the console before it was successful. Go ahead and compare it to Sega Saturn, but don't compare Nintendo's console to Dreamcast until this one fails and the next one is ready to come out.
