Re: Miiverse To Be Detailed In An Upcoming Nintendo Direct

Alienfish

My thought is that either Nintendo knows exactly what they're doing and are keeping Miiverse a general secret because they believe it will be a huge success and don't want copycats to reach market until they have a foothold or they aren't completely done with it yet, are rushing it, and hoping to god that it all comes together by launch. I think they know what they're doing, but it could just be like Mariokart Double Dash and how secretive that was, and also how disappointing it was. I know there are a lot of fans of that game out there, but it is actually the only Mariokart that I didn't bother buying because I hated it so much.

Re: Ubisoft States That Wii U GamePad Latency is "Just 1/60 of a Second"

Alienfish

@Mr_LztheBleh
I'm sorry, but if the latency was bad on the controller's screen, then the games would be suffering from it and therefore we gamers would all be suffering from it. This isn't the childish waving concerning CPU's, GPU's, and RAM, this is a serious concern. Of course, my belief is that if Nintendo can't do it right they won't do it at all so there shouldn't have been any concern in the first place.

Re: Want to Know Why Rayman Legends is a Wii U Exclusive?

Alienfish

@C-Olimar
Those things aren't packed in with every console so they won't be omnipresent with each PS3 or Xbox 360. Just because those consoles CAN do most of what WiiU can do doesn't mean they'll have the same mass market appeal. People don't want to pay $250 on top of their PS3 or $200 ~ $600 on top of their Xbox 360. Granted, some people may already have a Vita or a tablet, but developers can't expect that everyone has one of these devices or is even willing to use them with the console so it becomes a gimmick. WiiU's second screen is integrated, therefore it isn't a gimmick, it's part of the hardware.

Re: Want to Know Why Rayman Legends is a Wii U Exclusive?

Alienfish

I don't think it will mean less ports for WiiU, only less ports for other consoles. This time around Nintendo has included almost all that is needed to make it easily possible for other multiplats to come to WiiU whereas Wii was significantly underpowered and didn't feature a dual stick controller out of the box. There is a lot more going for WiiU as far as multiplatform gaming goes than the Wii so I think everything will be just fine, in fact I think it will be better than fine since games built for WiiU won't be easily ported so it will end up with more exclusives on top of taking in every multiplatform game. The outlook really is good if you think about it.

Re: Rumour: GameCube Coming to Wii U Virtual Console

Alienfish

Gamepad designer: Umm, Iwata, we kinda forgot to include pressure sensitive triggers in the Gamepad.
Iwata: Oh, that's okay, we'll just announce a new peripheral when we decide to put Gamecube titles on the eShop.
Gamepad designer: But, won't that alienate some people from actually buying the games?
Iwata: Noooooo, nooooo... By the way, you're fired.

Re: North America, Here Are Your 23 Wii U Launch Titles

Alienfish

Provided that each of these games is $60 I could spend $1200 on just the ones I want (exactly 20 games). This is where Nintendo dries up my wallet before I can spend any money on third parties, thereby making third parties leave due to lack of income. Innovative titles come first, then gritty, dark atmosphere mature games come second.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime: "The Nintendo Power Brand is Very Strong"

Alienfish

I've been getting it on and off (mostly on) for the past 14 years and it really is part of my monthly ritual to sit back and devour a Nintendo Power Magazine in one sitting. I'll be sad to see it go. Digital would be nice, but there is definitely something to be said for having something solid in your hands. Maybe it will live on with the WiiU Gamepad? Now that would be cool.

Re: Firebrand Games: "Nintendo Needs to Charm the Mass Market" With Wii U

Alienfish

I'm getting sick of all this gloom and doom whenever Nintendo launches a console. Is it going to do better than the last one? Can it compete with MS and Sony? Will bananas still be yellow in five years? So Nintendo managed to sell to a few grandma's last gen, that isn't to be expected all the time. The best selling console of all time only sold well because of a great form factor and it was a DVD player (PS2). The Wii, I believe, sold well because of a great form factor (motion controls actually put a lot of people off at first since there was no gyro). Now, WiiU will have that same great look and be an entertainment hub, capable of controlling the TV itself and it will also include almost everything you've ever seen on any other console (disc based players and analog triggers need not apply). It will do just fine, and the same people who bought a Wii are going to hear about WiiU through the same people they did last time: the real Nintendo fans. WiiU will be fine.

Re: Rumour: Grand Theft Auto V Coming To Wii U

Alienfish

They're probably just looking to get hits on their site. I'm really hoping for a release on WiiU though since it will be a more capable machine and should provide a better experience with the extra screen, even if it's only used for map and maybe sniping.

Re: Nintendo: Wii U Basic Bundle Designed To Attract Core Gamers

Alienfish

Yeah, right. If they wanted to bring in the core gamers with the lower cost model they would have made that one black or made both models in both colors. Now we're going to have console wars for WiiU.
"Premium has WAAAAYYY bigger flash memory!"
"Basic was more consumer friendly!!!"
Now I'm waiting for the in-between model with 16GB of flash memory, $20 for the eShop, and a stand and cradle for the Gamepad for $329.99.

Re: Talking Point: Are Wii U Games Going To Be Too Expensive?

Alienfish

Some games will be the full $60 and others will be less, that's how it is with 3DS and Wii now and that's what will continue to happen (of course the cap right now is $50). As long as NSMBU has the content and polish then it's worth it, but a game like Nintendo Land that is so small that the limits of it are already known should be less. Honestly, I wouldn't mind paying upwards of $100 for a game that was so polished and so full of diversity and content that it was basically as good as two games combined.

Re: Out Now: 3DS XL Goes Big in North America

Alienfish

@Hyperstar96 #25
I would say that is compared to a brand new small 3DS. I've had my small one for about a year and it played MP3's for my eight hour work shift and ending with a red light. My new XL went the entire shift and had three bars left, and I had already used it for playing games and other stuff for about an hour before that.

The battery life is definitely impressive for what you get and compared to something like a PS Vita or a smart phone.

Re: Out Now: 3DS XL Goes Big in North America

Alienfish

The first thing I noticed was the screen size, the second was how easy it is to finger type now. I feel more relaxed with this new model as well since it is more comfortable and I never have to squint to see anything due to the large screens. Too bad I have to wait 'til next paycheck to get Mario

Re: New LEGO Lord of the Rings Gamescom Trailer

Alienfish

The end of the video doesn't have a WiiU logo. Has it actually been confirmed for WiiU or will I have to pop the Wii disc into the WiiU to make it for that console? I'm hoping for some innovative gamepad support and a decent polygon count here and not some cheap kick-in-the-nads version.
