Hardly; all they wanted to do was make something better than they ever have before, and deliver an experience to wii gamers that other studios were not.
lol nice try. They HYPED their game as that, and the second coming, while putting out a half (another word for butt, rhymes with glass..)ed product.
It's fine if you're easily fooled for someone working hard, but some of us aren't. They totally got what they deserved. If they truly cared about making a great game, they would have done much better than the mediocre at very, very best products they put out.
They're an awful dev with an awful understanding of ethics in their profession. They deserve absolutely no respect.
Sports games can not have drastic change, anyways. I have this discussion every year about Madden. The biggest transition it can undergo is visually or because of the controller. There's nothing more that can be done with the Wii's limited hardware, and it already takes advantage of motion control.
Besides that, it can only have new courses, characters, challenges, online features, etc. And no additions like those will significantly change the game.
And if games had to have considerable change in order to score the same, or higher, games such as Pokemon Black or any Final Fantasy would score like 2s, despite holding up well against brand new games.
P.S. Stop expecting Madden to be drastically different. It simulates the same sport every year, people.
Please make more. I like seeing people annoyed for petty reasons.
Why would it annoy me that you like playing the same games over and over and over? I couldn't care less. I have other gaming devices that I use much more frequently than anything Nintendo because they're regularly supported by NEW games.
And I don't even have time for those! Heck, if you Nintendo guys ever get a new game that is actually decent, I'll have even less time!
There are a lot of us that are really enjoying the game.
There's a lot of people out there that enjoy any game. That's not saying much.
Meanwhile, I'd like to thank you Jon for not being lenient with this one. Seems like people judge these games off of perceived effort, rather than the actual product.
When the actual product sucks, the effort doesn't really matter.
Steel Diver is developed by not only Nintendo, but head honcho Miyamoto was in charge of the project
Really? Then that's kind of embarrassing. I guess just further proof Miyamoto has lost his touch with modern gaming.
A couple side points:
1. Wind Waker is the greatest Zelda to whoever said they wouldn't mind that remake. If it's any consolation I would hate that one the least. 2. Surprisingly I don't actually care, on a personal level, what Nintendo does with their time, as I hardly ever play Nintendo games. Zelda (Except WW), Metroid, Pikmin, Star Fox? I'm not a huge fan. The only franchise I REALLY like is Paper Mario. (And there's something about Wind Waker..)
It's the principle I have a problem with. If every publisher did this, half the games being made would be remakes. At least Sony bundles a couple/few games, puts them in HD, adds a bunch of new content, and sells them on a single Blu Ray disc. Nintendo? Take one game, add average to flat out awful motion control, and release again.
If Nintendo's lazy philosophy of "rinse, release, repeat" carries over to the consoles/ handhelds I actually like, then you guys can be like "lolol Alex take that" lol
Edit: On a side note, a few of these games being mentioned as ones Nintendo fans have overlooked, have been overlooked for good reason. Steel Diver? Most agreed it was mediocre at best and was just "published" by Nintendo. Pikmin, I'll give you that one. Chibi? No. >.>
because of games like starfox that will really benefit and feel new. can't wait for that one.
It's like this..
A. Play a game with new technology. B. Play a game with new technology except you know everything that happens.
Why people wouldn't prefer sequels, at the very least (God forbid Nintendo tries a new IP..) is so beyond me it's not even funny. I'm pretty sure I have a better hold on the string theory.
So far I can name as many remakes in store for the 3DS as I can new games from Nintendo. That's pathetic. If that's your thing, awesome. I'm just glad the rest of the world doesn't share your perspective, or I'd be riding a horse to work.
That is terrific. There are also people out there that love classic cars. Should manufacturers not evolve and produce new vehicles?
That's fine if you don't think gaming should evolve, but that doesn't mean you should encourage the industry to stagnate so you can play the same games over and over and over.
Yes, that is precisely what we need. How about they just forget about that new Zelda and re release all the old ones again, 'cept in 3D! Woo!
They are making new games. Its just takes longer to produce awesome games than it used to because people have come to expect so much more
Do you know why they take so long? Because never in their history has Nintendo dedicated so many resources towards remakes as they are today.
That is why. No "oh but technology means longer dev time" crap. They have more technology and workers and resources than ever. They could be producing new games at a more efficient rate than in their entire history.
You should take that as an advice
Even if your analogy did make sense, very few people would know what you're talking about. You should take that as advice.
This is INSANE. Before the 3DS has even been alive for a year it'll have a Super Mario title, a Zelda title, Star Fox, Kid Icarus, Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, Paper Mario, Nintendogs...
They aren't releasing a big name game every six weeks...
To give consumers a firsthand look at these unique features, interactive Nintendo 3DS Demo Pods and mobile Nintendo 3DS Demo Squads will be in select U.S. cities starting March 11, offering sampling opportunities at more than 40 locations in cities nationwide.
I wonder how it feels for you guys knowing nobody reads these things half the time. lol
What Nintendo should REALLY focus on is WiiWare and Virtual Console, the things that need the most support.
The things that make the least money need the most support? If I ever have a business, you're not running it. lol
Mario Tennis with MotionPlus plz
You got your Mario Tennis. Remember when I told everyone that having that game would be a bad thing?
Yeah.. you're not getting two tennis games, they released that one while Motion Plus was right around the corner for a reason. Have fun with your waggle NPC tennis.
I don't know why people think the Wii is fading this year.
Because they've already released most of their biggest games this gen? The next, and perhaps only, huge release is going to be Zelda. There's not a sign of having any more landmark games or system sellers at the moment, and third party games are looking bleak as usual.
According to 'sources', everyone is making a secret Goldeneye game.
Truth is, the only Bond games now are those based on the current movies. If anyone was interested in making an old game for a select fanbays they would have done so already, there's just no reason to now.
Saying otherwise just gives people false hope. And this has been happening for years. How long can people believe the same rumors?

Re: Review: LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean (Wii)
LEGO LEGO LEGO!
Bought this for the 360 of course, but it's Lego and Pirates so it must be good on the Wii, nonetheless. (sort of less though..)
Anyway, a seemingly good review and score for the Wii version.
Re: Ocarina of Time 3D is a Smoother Experience than Before
Oh that's awesome.
I'm glad they've improved a ten year old game. I know they were short on time and all but it's nice they care enough to put forth such effort.

Re: High Voltage Responds Badly to Scathing Conduit 2 Review
This makes me so happy.
It's nice to see High Voltage exposed as the inherent scum of gaming I've always claimed them to be.
Go back to making licensed shovelware, guys, so at least people won't mistake your "work" for real games.
Re: Got an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3?
Tired of spending countless hours searching for sites as good as Nintendo Life?
I have to admit.. I lol'd.

Nothing better than a remake of a remake of a free game. And the 3DS continues to live up to it's great fame of remakes.

Just as I predicted. 3DS will be nothing more than a glorified remake machine.
Nice waste of technology.

Re: Review: Successfully Learning Mathematics: Year 4 (WiiWare)
I want one of these games for advanced mathematics. Where is a game that helps me through Calc II and such.
Re: Talking Point: 3DS Launch Line-Up Lacks Fresh Ideas
I'M ALWAYS SAYING THIS!
I keep telling people.. the 3DS may just be used to recycle old ideas but in the third dimension.
That may be good enough for a lot of people, but those of us with higher standards for games won't be buying a new system to play the same old games.
Re: Talking Point: To 3D or Not to 3D?
Sony doesn't make any sports games and we've already established there are a lot fewer FPS games on the PSP than you give it credit for.
Also there is no point in paying 250 dollars for a 3D device when you don't plan on using the 3D.
Try seeing this from a non-Nintendo-happy perspective.
Re: Talking Point: To 3D or Not to 3D?
I thought you could just plug it into an outlet with the AC adapter.
Thought the cradle was just an added shell if people wanted to charge it that way.
Re: Talking Point: To 3D or Not to 3D?
I realized it was in the article after the fact. lol
Sorry, but thanks for the response. Hopefully those of us that enjoy 3D movies and such will also be perfectly okay.
Re: Japan Selling More 3DS Consoles Than Other Platforms Combined
As everyone else has said: Well duh.
It's like saying the new Zelda sold more than Black Ops the week Zelda is released. Doesn't mean much, the other game is a lot older. lol.
Re: Talking Point: To 3D or Not to 3D?
Hey hey hey, I haz another question!
Do we know what DSiWare games will NOT be available for download on the 3DS?
Re: Hands On: Nintendo 3DS
Hey hey hey, I have a question. Are those pre-installed games on the SD card, and can you delete them?
I don't even like it when apps come with my phone..
On another note, I like how the picture above the caption about "classic DS games" features a DS game that isn't even out for most people. lol.
Edit: CRAP I FOUND MY ANSWER. No you cannot delete them. Now I always have to look at them.. >.>
Re: Nintendo Begins Its U.S. 3DS Demo Tour This Weekend
We've already established those four cities will be the ONLY CITIES IN THE WORLD to have any 3DS demo of any sort, ever.
So as a collective group, I can safely say no we have not realized anything.
And of course Orlando! Why in the world would I give two bananas about Ohio? lol
Re: Nintendo Begins Its U.S. 3DS Demo Tour This Weekend
There are a few Floridians.
Now where my O-Town brothers at?!
Re: Nintendo Begins Its U.S. 3DS Demo Tour This Weekend
If anyone should be dishin' out wedgies it should be Canadians. The 40 locations are across the U.S., no mention of Canada.
Everyone here is freakin' out even though they don't know what the OTHER 36 CITIES ARE. lol
Re: Nintendo Begins Its U.S. 3DS Demo Tour This Weekend
There's only four opening THIS WEEKEND. lol
Am I going crazy here or what

Apparently they are having a lot of them, these are just the ones this weekend.
I live in Florida too so I was like wtf. lol

I'll be GameFly'ing this one first just to make sure.

Re: Review: Pearl Harbor Trilogy - 1941: Red Sun Rising (WiiWare)
Noooo
It has a very weak co-op mode, where someone can sit in the back of a plane and fire a gun too.
There's no actual multiplayer. Where you can shoot each other and stuff.
Re: Review: Pearl Harbor Trilogy - 1941: Red Sun Rising (WiiWare)
No Sky Crawlers does NOT have multiplayer, which is why I was asking for more... credible opinions.
Re: Review: Pearl Harbor Trilogy - 1941: Red Sun Rising (WiiWare)
Anyone that has played this and Sky Crawlers?
I'd like to know if there's someone out there that greatly prefers one to the other.
Re: Review: Pearl Harbor Trilogy - 1941: Red Sun Rising (WiiWare)
If there is multiplayer it should be in the last game.
You don't give people a reason to not buy the other games. They'd be silly to put it in the very first game.
Re: Review: Tournament of Legends (Wii)
Another swing and a miss, HVS.
