It makes sense since we are the ones that rated them.
Yeah but that's no fun. Like one site gave Brawl a 9.5, No More Heroes a 9.0, and No More Heroes won Wii Game of the Year. You're supposed to throw in a shocker so people will come in here and throw a tantrum. That's much more exciting than everyone coming in here and saying, "Oh yeah, that makes sense."
Heck, throw MaBoShi or Tetris in there or somethin'. My list would be as follows:
5.) Star Soldier R 4.) Mega Man 9 3.) FFCC: My Life As a King 2.) World of Goo 1.) Tetris Party
Now see that list would turn heads and you'd have people gathering their fighting utensils. Oh, that is my actual list by the way, I can substantiate each game being in their position.
Nintendo needs to release a hardrive so I can actually buy these games.
Huh? The Wii's memory doesn't invalidate your credit card.
I'm glad I don't have all these problems everyone else is having. But then I only keep six games on my system at any time, so maybe I'm just not as needy.
Fine. Nintendo is releasing no new games in North America. And they're releasing very few, oh yeah just one game in Japan, so they'll be offering good VC games.
Well of course. Nintendo is releasing no new games for the Wii during the first quarter.
What do you do when you have no new games? Release really good old ones to cover for the drought.

@ Objection_Blaster - It just goes to show how much time free time I have. lol
But there's no point, as like I told Gabbo, some things just aren't worth winning. Heck, Gabbo went to great lengths to explain things carefully and Shadow still doesn't understand his original point.
Comparing the replay value of WoG to brawl is horrible. I beat WoG in 5 hours and it got BORING! I never used the term replay value. football is just so much fun and theres no repetiveness at all You're absolutely right. Each football game something new happens. How many times do you see two games end with the exact same score?
Only reason he said that he played it over 150 hours is because of all the content that is enabled to be unlocked. And he didn't say that. You're assuming you know what he meant. Even if that were the case, MLB Power Pros is not a longer game than Okami because it has unlockables. It has more replay value, but it's not longer.
Oh haha and btw your the “blind, ignorant follower”!!! Of logic? Oh you got me there!
You're saying all this hatred stems from the review. How do you know people aren't thinking like me, and dislike the game for the reasons I listed above?
The arrogance of certain Bplus employees formed my opinion of the game. Especially after a former Bplus employee came on this site, said he has never been affiliated with Bplus, and praised the game. Their actions were inexcusable and unprofessional. I don't support those facetious acts with my hard earned cash.
Reasons why brawl is number 1 - Wow. I am in awe. Some people make terrible lists and then some people make TERRIBLE lists. lol
So, a couple of your REALLY screwed up points... Brawl doesn't support 16 players. It supports 4 at a time, with the option of switching people in and out. A notepad and a pen and Melee supports 16 players too. And how often do you have 16 people in the same room all wanting to play Brawl?
You're using the adventure mode as if it's a good thing? Wow. You realize that's one of most heavily criticized parts of the game, right? Which part did you like most? The repetitiveness? There's a reason people completely ignored the Subspace Emissary.
It's the longest game because you've played it for 100 or so hours? Awesome. So I guess World of Goo is longer than Twilight Princess because I've played it more? Oh and Madden must be the longest game ever made since I've put in 300 or so hours.
You're also using WiFi to support the game? I find Brawl's online with random people is best used to conduct lag research. WiFi was one of the biggest disappointments to accompany Brawl's release and using it as a positive thing is just laughable.
Your list is an absolute joke and supports those (such as me) who believe Brawl is NOT the Wii's top game this year. Heck, Brawl wasn't deserving of Game of The Month.
@AlexSays.I'm not sure I understand. Awesome! I needed someone to say that so this rant is justified. lol
How do casual gamers become hardcore? Oh a number ways, really. What's one way you ask? By purchasing a bad game.
Let's take Casual A for instance. Mr. A buys Pong Toss and says "Ohs noes, this game sucks! If only there was a way I knew if a game was good or not before spending my money..." Then a rock falls on Mr. A's head and somewhere in a third world country a light bulb goes off, and Mr. A says "I could look up a review!"
Bad games make people more cautious about spending their money. If 10 people buy terrible games, a few of those 10 are more likely to check out a review or ask around before blowing their hard earned money. What happens then? They start reading up on games, seeing why ones are better than others. They slowly start devoting more time to their hobby.
After buying Pong Toss, someone out there said to themselves, "Self, what was I thinking?" Then they hopped on the internet and read about how stupid they were for buying a game. Then he saw how everyone hated kashewals and decided never to be one!
Bad games convert kashewals to ardkores. They make people more cautious with their money, and invest more time in gaming. Just another reason why I love bad games.
That's fine as long as it's not on WiiWare. Zelda on WiiWare would destroy the service and Nintendo knows this.
Nintendo knew Pokemon on WiiWare was a risky move so they put it out as soon as the service was just starting. They know they couldn't release Pokemon on WiiWare right now.
Is the out-of-bounds mechanic just preventing people from putting against the wall? Like in real mini-golf, it's impossibly to putt the ball when it's RIGHT against the wall. So you usually have to move it a couple inches away.
Does the out-of-bounds thing prevent unrealistic shots? In this image it looks as if a ball hit outside the white line (right against the wall) would be classified as out-of-bounds. If that's the case then that's perfectly okay since moving the ball away from the wall deserves a stroke penalty anyway.
It's not that it's bad, it's just not that great. The game is ugly. One of the lesser looking games on WiiWare. The IR is a little too responsive. A slight jerk will cause the camera to go crazy. The game play at times is overly complicated. You have a guy throwing fire balls at your work and you have to try to ignore him, raise banamana, and continue building your structure.
World of Goo's selling points are it's graphics, easy pickup-and-play game play, and it's story. Tiki Towers delivers all that in a much lesser extent. It's a fun game and worth the 5 bucks but people are better off paying 15 bucks for a game that does everything better.
Some people are still going to get a kick out of this for sure. Not more than 9 out of every 10 people. 1 of those 10 will be left-handed so they'll be screwed at the very start.
The Wii has three full retail released mini golf games already Seriously? How many of those 3 are quality games?
and at least two other mini golf games included within other games. That has nothing to do with anything. There are still people who want a quality game entirely devoted to mini golf. People aren't going to pass up Mario Kart and buy Mario Party for a kart-racing mini game.
So, there are already a bunch of mini golf games out there. Yeah 5 is a ton. And 80% of those aren't worth looking at. But that's good. Why ask for more games? I know some people have that whole "more games is better" mentality but I suppose not wanting more games could be just as good.
After more play time, I'm giving Tiki a solid 6. If anyone's interested in this type of game, definitely play World of Goo first. This is a fun little game for 500 points, but World of Goo is an absolute beast for whatever the price.
And that Indian Chief (in Tiki Towers) saying the same thing over and over every two seconds is the most annoying character since Navi.
We need zelda on wiiware - instabuys. No we don't. Zelda on WiiWare would single-handedly destroy the service and ruin Nintendo's reputation. Bad ideas like that make me happy Nintendo only listens to their fans a little bit.
Fun! Fun! Mini Golf is a great game and easily the best mini golf game on the Wii. ...It's not like it has much competition. There's only one other mini golf game.
I got this game for free and it's a rip-off of World of Goo. Don't get it. No you're wrong. I was the first one to say this game was a Goo-ripoff and I now take that back.
Anyone that knows me knows I'm the first to dish out criticism so defending this game shows how good I think it is. It's not a stand-out game but it's a solid 6 or 7 and is a fun little game once you give it a chance.
It's been hardly two months and they are already cloning World of Goo... So you think this game has only been in development for two months? Yeahhhh.... no.
Those 5 hours are some of the top-quality hours gaming has to offer. Not to mention they give incentives to go back and play some more. World of Goo could have cost 50 bucks and they'd still be generous.
Well it's definitely better than I thought it would be. It's still not in the same ballpark as World of Goo but it's a fun, cute little game in it's own right.
And then price comes into things. 15 bucks for World of Goo was an absolute STEAL and I believe 5 bucks for this game is a good deal as well.
If WWW had given the game a decent score, half of the people on this site would be praising it right now.
You mean to tell me people on this site actually listen to these reviewers? That's great news! See I was always under the impression Corbie and friends typed these things up to see if their keyboard still worked.
The fact Bplus praised this game to the high heavens, slapped a huge price tag on it, and then had their game ripped apart by several reviewers is more than enough to tell me this game is not good.
Maybe if Bplus didn't praise this game as if they thought it was the best on WiiWare, I would've given it a chance. Their own ignorant pride has me never wanting to play their game.
Luckily they learned from this horrible mistake, and made a new game without coming on here and telling everyone how great it is. And they gave Niki a low price tag.
Their WiiWare launch was absolutely terrible and deserved to be laughed at by this entire site. Now we can move on and hopefully enjoy their latest game, Niki, and any future games they might have in the works.

Re: EA's Moore Perplexed by World of Goo Success
Didnt he have the GTA4 date tatooed on his arm?
Yes he did.
The Halo tattoo is real but people are unsure if the GTAIV tattoo was real or not.
And then it got delayed?
Yes it did.

Matter of fact...

Did you see that?
Awesome.
NOW LOOK HERE
Now we can all agree Moore has a right for defending his game, yes?
Great!

On another related note, Moore should be upset.
FIFA 09 was one of the best sports games to come around in recent memory and not to be mentioned in a top 50 is absolutely crazy.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one here who watches YuGiOh: The Abridged Series.

That is AWESOME.
How have I missed this?
First I miss "A Charlie Brown's Christmas" on ABC and now you mean to tell me I've been missing YuGiOh?
Oh this is just crazy.

Re: Virtual Console Reviews - Best of 2008
What in the world?
I don't like this one either. lol
I guess I'll make my own.
5.) DoReMi Fantasy
4.) Star Parodier
3.) Star Tropics
2.) Mega Man 2
1.) Secret of Mana
Re: WiiWare World - Best of 2008
It makes sense since we are the ones that rated them.
Yeah but that's no fun.

Oh, that is my actual list by the way, I can substantiate each game being in their position.
Re: WiiWare World - Best of 2008
VERY predictable list.
Almost as if you took the top five rated games, and replaced Final Fantasy with Art Style.
What'd Square Enix ever do to you?
Anyway, I have all those except Art Style games.
I like puzzle games but none of those look that great to me and I'm pretty tight with my money.
Re: USA VC Update: StarTropics II
Nintendo needs to release a hardrive so I can actually buy these games.

Well that was a short retirement.
At least this way if he retires again he'll already be in Retirement Home U.S.A. being Florida of course.
Re: Nintendo To Launch Wii Video Service Next Year
Yeah this isn't a great idea.
Even if it works, why would anyone want to use it?
Re: Nintendo To Launch Wii Video Service Next Year
Wait, isn't the Wii supposed to be a game console?
What happened in the last year of your life that you completely missed every gaming console looking at video distribution?
Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - January 2009
Wii Music and Animal Crossing headed the Wii Christmas lineup, and we STILL didn't get Christmas-quality VC releases!
Because it was Christmas time.
Did Nintendo need help making money this Christmas?
Heck no. lol
Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - January 2009
Trace Memory 2
Fine. Nintendo is releasing no new games in North America.
And they're releasing very few, oh yeah just one game in Japan, so they'll be offering good VC games.
Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - January 2009
Well of course.
Nintendo is releasing no new games for the Wii during the first quarter.
What do you do when you have no new games?
Release really good old ones to cover for the drought.
When Punch Out Wii and Sin and Punishment 2 are getting close, we can expect VC releases to become lackluster again.
They also want gamers who received a Wii for Christmas, to become excited about the Virtual Console.
So they'll start all those newcomers off with a most-wanted game, being Smash Bros.
Re: Metacritic's Best Wii Games of 2008
Actually THQ is quite happy with De Blob's sales.
I just got my copy over Christmas, but it's already outsold Zack and Wiki.
So I'm not quite sure how you can say nobody's playing it.
Re: Top 20 WiiWare Games in USA (24th Dec)
It the 25th already?!
I should probably start shopping for people...
Merry Christmas.
Re: Top 20 WiiWare Games in USA (24th Dec)
Yeah that would have it's pros and cons.
They'd have full financial support but probably wouldn't have the freedom they had while making World of Goo.
Re: SnakeByte Christmas Compo - Win Yourself Some Wii Goodies
"I kissed a girl and I liked it ... oh wait, no I haven't "
If this doesn't win I'm leaving this site forever.
(Not really cause that would be terrible lol)
Re: LIT
Good news everyone! It comes out next week!
You work for the company or something?
Re: Top 20 WiiWare Games in USA (24th Dec)
Yeah can someone explain why Nintendo is telling people to buy World of Goo? lol
I opened up that message and I was like "Woah".
Did Nintendo buy 2D Boy and make them a 2nd party?
Re: Metacritic's Best Wii Games of 2008
@ Stuffgamer1- The controls are nearly the same. I've played both and each control method works flawlessly so you can't go wrong either way.
I actually like playing on my Wii more so I can recline on my couch and relax.

Heck, Gabbo went to great lengths to explain things carefully and Shadow still doesn't understand his original point.
Re: Metacritic's Best Wii Games of 2008
I'd be more likely to try World of Goo if there was a demo.
Merry Christmas!
It's ok, you don't have to get me anything.

What a perfectly logical response.
I see things so clearly now!
For future reference though...
If you want to be taken seriously on this site you have to actually back up your claims.
On a completely unrelated note my girlfriend is Italian.
So for all I know you two could be related!
While I don't dislike Brawl like you somewhat seem to, all of your points on why it's not the No.1 of 2008 are incredibly valid.
I don't dislike Brawl either. And I've even played it quite a bit recently.
It's just a shame Brawl has so many blind, ignorant followers.

Is it any wonder that the Wii gets a bad rap when a significant percentage of the Wii population downloads something like Pong Toss?
That's a great thing though.
I hope every casual gamer out there purchases Pong Toss.
There's no sarcasm in this post.
If anyone wants me to explain I will.

A sad year for the wii indeed. 3 wiiware games, 1 port, and one broken game.
Huh? Those are the only games you purchased this year?
That's terrible.
You should try moving to a country that gets shipped more games.
Oh and you're confused.
Okami was the port and the broken game.
Brawl had it's faults but being broken was not one of them.

Those 5 hours are some of the top-quality hours gaming has to offer.
Not to mention they give incentives to go back and play some more.
World of Goo could have cost 50 bucks and they'd still be generous.
Re: USA WiiWare Update: Tiki Towers & Fun! Fun! Minigolf
That worked.
Thanks Mojo.
Re: USA WiiWare Update: Tiki Towers & Fun! Fun! Minigolf
Haven't received Tiki yet.
Oh well, I have time.
Re: Plättchen: Twist 'n' Paint
Re: USA VC Update: Phantasy Star IV
We can only draw one conclusion from this.
...Nintendo hates Christmas.
Re: RealArcade Interview - Tiki Towers
@ longtimegamer -- Same here.
I emailed kinda late and just received an email from them a couple minutes ago.
