Re: Talking Point: Wii U and the Importance of Backward Compatibility

AlbertoC

"It's understandable that some will say, "I don't buy a new system to play old games", which is fair enough. That said, it's surely a welcome extra. While Nintendo understandably wants to earn money from older generations via its Virtual Console (we expect GameCube on the Wii U eShop, eventually), it's an act of generosity to provide the means to play your most recent catalogue of games at no extra cost. "

Bravo. I almost cried.

Re: GAME Mobile App Suggests That Nintendo ID Is On Its Way

AlbertoC

If my 3DS gets stolen or it breaks, i can kiss goodbye all my eShop games. This is the strongest and main reason i will still prefer solid cartridges that i can touch, insert and play, lend, and sell. They are much more expensive than 3DSware, I can afford to lose a 3DS and one cartridge, but it will really, really hurt if i have a decent collection (I'm on my way, i have 7 different retail games, 4 of them are available for download). Think of it when IBM introduced the hard disk drive eliminating punched cards, when people was afraid to have data that couldn't be touched, but without the benefit of copying it elsewhere. (Games are tied to the 3DS they were bought, i can copy them to a hard disk but still lose them if i don't have my current handheld.)

If they make an account system that can recover my games and save data, that worry will go away and i will go digital with retail games sooner than i can say it.

Now, if that "Nintendo ID" is only meant to be used with the Wii U, and what i say will still be a reality for quite some more time, then i can happily buy more and more little, white boxes even if i am missing download codes (that by the way i'm missing anyway for they are US and Canada benefits only, thanks again for that) and whatnot.

Re: Nintendo Reveals Its Version of iTunes For 3DS

AlbertoC

Not paying for music is not necessarily equal to pirating. There is grooveshark, you pay for a suscription... Other cloud based services that stream your files (you know, the ones you get ripping a CD you own)... And there is also free, creative commons music. Or public domain music. My favorite. Without need of paying fees of any kind.

Re: Does This iOS Monster Battling Game Remind You of Anything?

AlbertoC

"...For every Angry Birds and New Star Soccer, there are countless derivative works which simply rip off the efforts of others for easy gain. It's one of the main reasons why mobile gaming leaves a sour taste in the mouths of many 'traditional' players."

+1. Pretty good statement, pretty much true.

Your regular traditional gaming vs. mobile games battle.

Oh, and talking of battles... What a uninspired excuse for making cash.

EDIT: And there is also this: "to apologize the poors grammars and the english that is because in the past from the translator by language the original". One thing is to write your awkward english on internet forums. But to write it on commercial products and sell your suckiness... With sucky products... Epic fail.

Re: 20 Extra Mutant Mudds Levels on The Way to eShop For Free

AlbertoC

YES! This is good news, indeed! This is the only eShopgame i own (a friend of mine bought it for me since i don't have a credit card) and while it can get pretty frustrating, it is really, really polished. More levels? In my Mutant Mudds i already own and have beat? YES! Way to revive a game!

Re: Mobile Publisher Believes Nintendo Ecosystem May 'Fall Apart'

AlbertoC

"Naturally, for fans of Nintendo or dedicated handhelds in general, these are fairly brash and provocative comments. "

You can't compare playing Resident Evil Revelations or Metal Gear Solid SE to playing angry birds or some zynga-esque game. You just can't. Why tell that "the ecosystem might fall apart"?

I own two smartphones (Palm Pre, HTC Evo 4G) and have played these free games and "mobile blockbusters" like the aforementioned Angry Birds (original and Space). I get bored after a while (say, 20 minutes of trying to archieve perfect launches, essentially doing the same thing over and over.) The only good games i see are the ones Square Enix makes, at the end a VG company and veteran. IMHO this is ridiculous.

Re: Review: New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS)

AlbertoC

Super mario 3D land doesn't have DLC... But if this one does, i'm getting it. If it is paid one, i'll consider it.

Also... "we’re still waiting forlornly for the branching pathways witnessed in Super Mario World and Super Mario Bros. 3" This.

Re: 3DS System Update is Available Now

AlbertoC

@Nestalgic: The 3DS is the most robust console in anti piracy measures. Remember that on the console box and manual, on the games' boxes, and on each update it says that using an unauthorised device (flashcart) can brick your 3DS. (rendering it permanently unplayable)

Iron fist move at punishing piracy, and for that i applaud Nintendo. That's how you handle that issue, like a boss.

Re: Fan Group 'Operation Zero' Attempts to Scare Nintendo of America

AlbertoC

@LollipopChoSaw: These guys will contact Nintendo and with this evidence in hand the big N will make business decisions. Nintendo is not just any kind of industry, it is a video-game dedicated company, after all. If enough people want this title, it is a smart business decision to localize it. And with this operation, they want to identify and get help from these people. Is it a minority? We don't know for certain.

Please, do not be so quick to label and judge that gamers "do not know how a company works" or "have this ridiculous belief", or that "JRPGs and survival horror games don't sell that well in the US".

All things considered, Resident Evil: Revelations sold relatively well in the U.S. last month. The NPD Group told Joystiq Capcom’s horror title sold 122,000 units in March. Source: http://nintendoeverything.com/86453/march-2012-npd-resident-evil-revelations-sales/

Xenoblade Chronicles has reached 207k units sold, this is according to VGChartz who has posted their weekly sale figures. It’s up 22k units from last week. In just three weeks, sales in the US have surpassed Europe where 174k units have been sold and Japan where 158k units have been sold. Re: Fan Group 'Operation Zero' Attempts to Scare Nintendo of America

AlbertoC

When will people learn what respect is?

If these guys are organizing themselves to ask Nintendo for a game they want, it's their decision. It's not like expressing this idea or sending calls or letters is a crime, now is it?

Now, if there are hundreds of letters, then there are hundreds of fans, and Nintendo needs to hear the customers instead of getting behind a corporate wall. But if they start to be bothersome, that's different. It's not like they will send out-of-control spam, it's just going to be three days. (Just for the record, after operation rainfall i never heard complaints from Nintendo employees.)

If Operation Zero begins to spam every forum about this matter, that is an issue. If people begin to hate just by the sheer reason of hating, that is also an issue. It's easy to forget that freedom ends where rights begin.

@BenAV: I do not agree with your second comment, sir. Quoting madgear: "You have to remember we're consumers, not brattish kids wanting things - we give these companies their money and keep them in business so, yes, they should listen to us rather than having them dictate to us. It's the way industry works."

Re: How Was Super Mario Bros. 3 Made?

AlbertoC

Back on the good ol' days where all you needed to make a legendary game was a young genius working for a emerging videogame company, with a mind full of crazy, senseless but completely fun ideas... 3D graphics didn't need to apply.

Re: Guide: Nintendo 3DS System Update

AlbertoC

I really HATE region-locking. It's like Nintendo is telling me to screw myself just because i'm not in the USA. If this company keeps doing that, i will officialy hate it big time.

Re: How to Avoid Skyward Sword's Game-Ending Glitch

AlbertoC

I haven't progressed to this point yet. It's a shame to see a bug of this magnitude in Skyward Sword. I'll make sure to remember this in order to avoid it.

@ People who want this patched: The game's programming is contained entirely on the disk, and can't be "patched", not even by content on the wii firmware. It has also nothing to do with a bad online service.

Re: Iwata Asks Sheds Light on Mario Kart 7's Creation

AlbertoC

UK media, and some more from the USA are waiting the slightest provocation from Nintendo to throw it a tantrum. Some 3D-dizzy, refund-demanding, dad owners of the 3DS on the UK come to my mind immediately, so tweaking the first person mode was definitely neccesary.

Re: Feature: The Most Bizarre Nintendo Life Search Results

AlbertoC

@Usagi-san: Google searches are used by the websites, like those samples here. They are used for a variety of purposes, mainly for statistical data: what the users want, how to generate more interest -> traffic -> revenue. It's not like google searches must become classified info.

Also, i don't think someone is dumb enough to search for (already known, i pressume) sensitive information on google. But well, that is the way it is, that is the way it has been, and nobody has died from it, trust me.

Whatever, i'm not google.
