While Europe is celebrating something of a Virtual Console revival this month, North America has a stack of 3DS eShop content on the way in the coming weeks and months.
For a start, Game Gear games hit the North American eShop on 15th March, but there's more. Here's what's on the cards according to Nintendo's latest press release:
8th March
Punch-Out!!™ Featuring Mr. Dream (Virtual Console, NES, $4.99) – "The classic boxing game from the NES returns, featuring fan-favorite characters like Little Mac and Bald Bull."
Fun! Fun! Minigolf TOUCH! (3DS Download Software, Shin'en, $4.99) – "Use your personalized Mii™ character to play 81 challenging holes in exotic locations around the globe."
22nd March
Zombie Slayer Diox (3DS Download Software, UFO Interactive, $5.99) – "A samurai guitarist must use his superior musical chops to defeat zombies in this unique rhythm-action game."
March/April
Colors! 3D — The long-awaited paint package makes it Stateside in April.
Arc Style Soccer!! 3D (3DS Download Software, Arc System Works, $6.99) — March/April – "This easy-to-learn, customizable soccer game lets players use photos of their own faces and play wirelessly with friends."
19th April
Rhythm Thief & the Emperor’s Treasure from SEGA (free demo version, April 19) – "Download a demo version to feel the rhythm and beat of the mystery in this spellbinding adventure game."
Coming Soon
Ketzal’s Corridors — No official date but Nintendo says it's "coming soon". The official description goes like this: "A fast-paced, Aztec-themed action-puzzle game with brilliant 3D graphics and head-to-head multiplayer options. The game lets players race against the clock in 96 shape-matching missions and three multiplayer modes."
There should be plenty there to keep your eShop account in good use. Will you be grabbing any of these games?

Nice, but where's Wario Land?
I hope there's more meat to the downloads... more demos and VC games, to be exact.
Smh Nintendo. When there is no kid icarus demo then they still haven't learned a damned thing.
Finally a demo I want to play! And Finally Nintendo's telling us ahead of time what we're getting!
Probably all of them lol they all sound good
When I read about the Arc Systems soccer game, I thought at first it said, "Art Style" and got reaaally excited. Hope there's a Bit Generations/Art Style type of series for 3DS...
Also: No Pinball Arcade?? I need my Theatre of Magic!
Nice to see Punch-Out!! is coming but where is Warioland?
@shingi_70 They've learned that demoes sometimes reduce sales. Most of the people who are gonna buy the game day one don't need the demo. The demoes are there to help the people who are on the fence, to increase the long term sales. Sure, it's more corprate-friendly than consumer-friendly, but hey, at least we still get the demoes not too long after the release, and a big name like Kid Icarus doesn't need a demo a week before release, just as we didn't see a Black Ops and Halo: Reach.
Read "Art Style" instead of Arc Style for a second there.
NA gets 3DSWare while Europe gets the VC. Strange trend but I'm fine with it.
@LittleIrves I thought exactly the same thing when I read that. My mind nearly imploded trying to understand how Art Style could do a soccer game. Bringing the Art Style series to the 3DS would make my retinas very happy.
There's a LOT of good stuff missing from this list. When do we get Kirby's Block Ball, Wario Land, BOTH Kid Icarus games (3D classics and Gameboy)...and are we going to get Picross E at all? If Europe gets it and we miss out, I'ma be EXTREMELY annoyed.
Punch-Out!! and the Rhythm Thief demo are my highlights. I am especially anticipating the latter.
@Waveboy
I'll side with all of your arguments for the next 5 months if you give me a copy.
In all cerealsness, at least we're getting punch out!
(wants more GBC games!)
Hey, I wanted to try that game out, nice to see a Demo is headed our way. :3
...Buuut... I sincerely hope this isn't ALL we're getting for months... XD
looking forward to that Rhythm Thief demo for sure! :3
@Azokira we are also getting 3 game gear games.
I'll probably get Punch-Out!!, but I'm really waiting for Wario Land and Kid Icarus: OMAM.
Hey I dunno if anyone cares but I get the feeling that Ketzal's Corridors is the US name for SpeedThru: Potzol's Puzzles.
D:
Where are the ambassador games? I need more Zelda...
@LittleIrves
Unfortunately it doesn't look as if Pinball Arcade for 3DS and PC are coming at the end of March after all. No official release date for these versions has ever been confirmed while all the other platforms have. Specifically pertaining to the 3DS, they are having trouble getting the ROM emulation working right. Dunno what's delaying the PC version though.
Fun! Fun! Minigolf TOUCH! sounds interesting.
nice to see punch out coming out,but i wish that zombie game was about shooting and surviving then music...really thats sad
It's funny that NA gets most of what Europe gets yet when NoA doesn't officially announce something that NoE mentions, I always get a little nervous.
Anyway, I hope we get the Rayman Origins demo before Rhythm Theif (don't get me wrong, I am VERY interested in Rhythm Theif. It's just that Rayman comes out sooner).
punchout and colors! are both instant buy.
the minigolf is tempting but, i will have to wait. same goes to arc style soccer. this one will depend on how the soccer gameplay is handled.
game gear? hahaha what a joke. worst handheld ever. battery sucking machine that offers scaled down crappy games. except for mean bean machine, all those i tried were a waste of time and money. even the sonic !
Come on Nintendo. Stop rereleasing games that were already rereleased. Rerelease some that haven't been rereleased yet. >:[
Nintendo... Y U NO RELEASE KID ICARUS 3D CLASSIC!?!?!?
No Kid Icarus Demo. I'm not Pre-Ordering then.
@smashbrawler331 ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)
Portable Punch-Out!? Hell yes!
Also where the **** are kid icarus of mths and monsters and nightsky?
@smashbrawler331
3D Classics: Kid Icarus probably won't be released until the Thursday AFTER Uprising (I believe Uprising is on a Sunday).
So, like...are we not getting a demo for Kid Icarus or Rayman Origins then?... :/
Hmmm This week to week release thing needs to change in the future (Especially when the Wii-U drops) I wish Nintendo would just release things when they are ready, not hold off on releasing them to follow this schedule.
But hey, I'm not a businessman so I could be wrong.
This isn't the whole list obviously, they didn't even mention the Game Gear games.
After seeing Europe's Nintendo Download JUGGERNAUT for this coming week, I'm not even a teensy weensy bit impressed. Underwhelmed would be an understatement. Where's Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters, Super Mario Land 3, and more Wii VC? Since NoA seems incapable of releasing more than one VC game in a given week, I suppose the aforementioned Game Boy games won't stand a chance at release until March 22nd. I am interested in finally playing a Game Gear game, but was really waiting for KI-OMM and SML3.
Hmmmm. I WAS thinking getting Punch-Out with save state would at long last allow me to defeat Mike Tyson, but it isn't Tyson I'd be beating, DAMMIT! Beating a palate swap isn't the same thing as beating Ear-biting, Child-eating, The Hangover-starring effing Iron Mike Tyson!
Looking forward to the first two titles listed. And yay for a Rhythm Thief demo! I've been unsure about buying that game. Also, I'm really hoping Colors! 3D comes out this month. I've been seriously looking forward to that. The 3DS needs a good drawing app, not Game Notes or Swapnote. :/
Hmm... I might get Fun! Fun! Minigolf TOUCH! When it comes out. It sounds interesting, but I've never played a golf game before.
@Squid
Art Academy is good, and it was free not too long ago. I have it myself and is far better than Swapnote.
Looks like I will finally be getting a Punch-Out!! game. I'm looking forward to it.
It looks like the ARC Style games are finally starting to arrive Stateside. Won't get the Soccer one (hey, I'm American OK), but I hope they release the Billiards one (been looking forward to that since it came out in Japan last year).
Also, does anyone know if the Game Gear games were good?
Missing a few, but it's nice to have ANY releases ahead of time, as NOA has always been less than adequate in this department in the past.
I'll be potentially picking up both of 3/8's offerings when I get my 3DS back from repairs.
@smashbrawler331 You know you can download it early and for free when you buy certain games right? At least here in Australia, it's a good thing I held off getting my sister's Nintendogs+Cats It ends at the end of the month so if you plan to get Rayman Origins that may have the slip.
As for Colors!... I'm going to download that day one but will it ever have an exact confirmed date?!?!?!
looks like I'm getting punch out on the 8th Where's Wario Land for North Americans.
punch-out isn't a classic unless it has mike tyson
Cool I may get Punch Out!
Not much here that interest me mabe ill take up some space with Rhythm Thief Demo, trailers looked pretty good.
Great, more games!!! But what about Flipnote Memo?!
Punch-Out!! and the Rhythm Thief demo for sure. Hopefully that's not a complete list and we'll be getting stuff like a Rayman Origins demo, Wario Land, and tons of other great stuff.
Yes, definitely getting Punch-Out on the go.
I was hoping Punch-Out!! would be 3D...
I'm only looking forward to Colors!3D and Punch Out.
@WaveBoy
I agree; a 3D remake would do Punch Out good. The eShop needs a good 3D fighting game after Urban Champion(I actually enjoyed it, but punch out is way better!).
To the people asking about Flipnote Memo, is it possible that it evolved into the already released Swapnote (Nintendo Letter Box)? As I never owned a DSi, I do not know what Flipnote Studio consisted of, so I don't know if Swapnote could even be considered a sequel, but I just thought it was worth wondering.
@RR529 no — Nintendo has announced a proper sequel to Flipnote Studio, and Swapnote is nothing like it at all. :3
Out of all of these, I only really want Punch-Out.
All these games suck. Punch out is the only one I am interested in.
@MrZanctom: If they all suck, and yet you're looking forward to one of them, that means they don't ALL suck. XD
@SkywardLink98 If you dont pre order, you'll have to pay $7 dollars for 3D Classic Kid Icarus, your choice, your saving nintendo money.
I'm disappointed not to see NightSky.
I'm curious as to why the demo of Rhythm Thief is coming weeks after its release
Nothing interesting. As in no GBA.
I know that Nintendo has every right to release any game that it wants for any platform, but I just think that Nintendo is wasting its time trying to release console games on the 3DS. Why not just concentrate on the games that were portable releases to begin with and go on from there? Leave the console games on the Wii/Wii U as it should be, in my opinion.
@AlbertoC I'm still unsure why some people are mentioning GBA games each week. I haven't heard anything yet about them coming out for non-Ambassadors. Plus, they aren't out for public sale in Japan yet even, so I'm not sure why you're mentioning it yet.
Darn, I would've loved to seen a set date for Wario Land. It's good to see we'll be getting Punch-Out.
@WaveBoy(#56): I'd say Mario has become too much of an icon since the early NES days. Cameos of him today would draw too much attention away from the actual game imo.
Where's my Flipnote Memo (3DS)?
the eshop keeps being the epic fail it has always been. sorry, nintendo, you drove away a very potent customer with your stoneage-titles you want us to buy every week. you clearly missed the sign of the times (again) by refusing to put your retail games into the store.
Where's the kid Icarus demo? The game hasnt been made for 20 years, so how are younger players supposed to know about this series. If they were smart, they'd release a demo, but this is stubborn nintendo we're talking about :/
Great, I Love Punch-Out!! But I really enjoyed Mike Tyson's Punch Out A Bit Better, I Hope That They Release It Eventually, Like To See Final Fantasy, Star Trek 25th Anniversary Edition, The Legend Of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure Of Link, Bible Adventures, The Rocketeer, Dragon Warrior III, And Super Mario Bros. 3. For The Game Boy, Final Fantasy Legend II And Final Fantasy Adventure Are Really Cool.
Colors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The game(s) I really want to see on the eShop are Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow. Later Gold, Silver, and Crystal, but RBY first. Gameboy without Pokemon is like NES without the Super Mario Bros. trilogy.
flipnote memo now!!! I have been waiting 4 ever 4 this! I always steal my bros. dsi's 4 hatena
