So maybe Twisted Fusion is not perfect. Reading your responses to those people giving their honest, detailed feedback gave me the impression of a developer striving to improve. By using the experience gained in this project for making future games... I wish you the best. That's how one really grows as a developer.
Now if you excuse me, I must buy something from the eShop.
This is full on "what in the name of all things deep sky blue"...
But I completely respect it. If some people like petting waifus and are disappointed by the fact it's been stripped out, and decide to import a japanese copy, to each their own.
Nintendo, it's about time you consider about New Super Mario 64.
Microsoft, you'll get your "gamers don't want these kinds of games anymore" thrown back at you time and again. I hope you're ready.
Playtonic, think about the best about the past. You can make something colossal out of this serious lack of 3D platformers: practically you're alone in the genre. Think big. I'm funding a Wii U version even with the MXN - GBP exchange rate (No laughing matter, guys. Trust me)
Latest Nintendo consoles storage issues, ordered by ascending order of importance / annoyance, as seen by yours truly:
The SD card found in the Nintendo 3DS can be swapped without additional tools, but their capacity is limited to 32GiB cards.
The card on the microSD slot on the New Nintendo 3DS can be swapped, just not on the go due to the fact a screwdriver is needed. (For listening my ever-growing music library found on my phone on long distances when trying to preserve phone battery, for using GPS and whatnot)
The internal 8GiB / 32 GiB drive found on the Wii U is not user replaceable. Connecting an external hard / flash drive is mandatory for downloading bigger retail games.
Splatoon probably doesn't beat an open world, HD Zelda game. But there is certainly a recent lack of silly and fun games like the sorts of the key door challenges from Diddy Kong Racing.
I used the word "silly" because there is no need for a philosophical or world-saving quest: the story is a plus in those kinds of games, IMHO. It'd be cool if it's a great plot, though.
First, we get leaked footage from Smash Bros for 3DS. Next we get news that freaking Link from the legend of Zelda is going to be playable in MARIO kart as DLC, nothing less. Then a NEW (literally) 3DS line is announced: both regular and XL varieties.
If it weren't because april fools is nowhere near september... I'm surprised, to say the least.
I'll upgrade to the new 3DSXL since the circle pad is failing on my old one. (The north-east diagonal goes only halfway according to the calibration tool, and yes, i've tried calibrating it several times.)
Those red eyes... Alas, is Magnolia posessed or something?
Well, whatever. As for the clothes, I like this iteration of the time mage outfit a lot better than the original. Not to mention I prefer this red mage outfit any day of the week.
I want a Zelda one. Perhaps a Yoshi and a Palutena, too. Not because they're used for Smash, but because they're amazingly well done and might look nice just in display on any desk (well, obviously I don't know about their durability, but they do look pretty detailed in these preview pictures).
In the first moves i said... "The wind waker is pretty meh". But then I saw a mini tornado sweeping everything around, and I had no choice but to change my opinion.
@Vrael I don't know how did you arrive to that conclusion. I watched the black screen saying that there was anime airing, then the pokemon trozei contest, then the guy in pink seeking stuff around the house. Then publicity. Everything for kyogre and groudon saying "wraah". I watched it all, too.
The cosmetic changes of the box-art legendaries might be: a) Just a marketing / design decision, b) Alternate forms for Groudon and Kyogre. Take your pick.
Also, in Europe and Japan the boxes are red and blue. I miss the good days where the cartridges were all glittery, transparent or just colored. Perhaps the manufacturing process or the material used doesn't allow it. Perhaps they're not longer made like that just because corporate decissions / economic reasons. But it would be nice, nonetheless.
I would like to also point what several other commenters have expressed about your interview. I assure you I wrote this with the utmost respect, regarding you not as a very skilled, fellow Smash Bros player (that you are), but as a human being. For one, I have decided to tell you directly, since I would like you to know why also I perceived the same thing.
Let me take some excerpts from the interview:
Overall it has to be Super Smash Bros. Melee. As a whole, I have that game mastered more than anybody and I’m very confident in it.
I am not held back in Brawl because I play the best character...
Finally my play style was perfect like a robot, so that’s how people ended up giving me those titles.
In a way I am gifted because my ability to learn is at a faster learning curve than the average person
I would love to work with a company to help make the next Pro Controller for Super Smash Bros. (...) If I don’t end up helping to make the next Pro Smash Controller then I honestly think that Nintendo should...
Talking about you is okay, because the interview is basically about who you are. Talking about what your aspiration is perfectly OK, so you can always seek to be a better player. Also, talking about what you have accomplished is wonderful, because you can show that your talent and the time you have poured into your true hobby has really paid off.
But what I perceived from the small excerpts taken from the interview is that you basically describe yourself being close to perfection or perfect, and that you basically are no match for everybody else. Having a lot of skill is one thing, but disregarding other people is another.
Finally, I would like to tell that my point of view, while just an opinion, was done with the best intentions in mind. I don't know you in real life, or how your personality is. I won't judge or label you as "arrogant" from a single article about you that surely more people have edited. But please take those words into account so people won't judge you like that again based solely on appearances.
I wish you the best of luck. Cheers.
P. S. To NL commenters: You are indeed free to tell what do you think on a particular topic, or in this case, a particular person. But there are always respectful ways to do so.
Plenty of popular mobile games are in fact blatant rip-offs of other games, with ads and microtransactions. The lowest point of the gaming scale if you ask me.
Even Superman for N64 was an original creation and didn't have cash-grabbing schemes everywhere.
To be honest, the original is still my favorite. Yet I surely didn't expect a first party game to be scored so lowly. And if Yarn Yoshi resembles Yarn Kirby, then i wouldn't be interested. Kirby's Epic Yarn made it IMPOSSIBLE to lose.
This aim at "casual" players is impacting the experience of some Nintendo games, and it's restraining the designers from putting obstacles or making longer / more intrincate stages. I'd say, if it gets hard, it got hard: time to practice. NES games didn't have a super guide, and some were awfully difficult.
I really like Bravely Default, even with its insane difficulty and its bit of repetitiveness. I would welcome a sequel, more so if it's deeper than the original.
Having a four screen setup... The work he does should be a screen state demanding one to have a setup like that. Not everybody has more than two screens attached to their computer.
This most likely was done by stitching the stages on a long image, then extending the workspace four screens wide. But it's very creative, nonetheless.
More importantly, if these buildings resist several high magnitude earthquakes a year, and they facilitate the evacuation of the staff if an emergency ever happens (fires, floodings, bomb threats) everything is fine.
Living in a very seismic yet populated region, I look for that in any place. I rarely feel at ease at wherever that gives me the impression safety was a last minute add-on rather than a priority.
Great article, Thomas. I completely agree with various of your points.
The most important thing about local multiplayer is the friday night gatherings with friends. Smash Bros + 4 controllers + snacks = we won't sleep before 4:00a. That definitely won't be the same with online play.
Richard Stallman came to my university last year and made me think about a lot of these things. I'm just expressing my ideals, not forcing them upon anyone nor analyzing the moral fiber of the average Joe to know what these things could be used for.
@Senario Most probably. There will always be people making the worst of good works. Way more people are excited that this could enable on the run memory modifiers (Or in other words, cheats) or play pirated games more than removing region lock, using the Wii U as a Blu-ray player or running a Skype client on it.
@R_Champ While many technical details haven't been released, and it might be so that they can analyze the ways Nintendo could patch / break it, you're not far from the truth in that it could just be boasting unless they show a real proof of concept instead of just binary dumps. I don't get where the "overweight" comments came from, though.
Warning users who want to use flashcards or modify the original firmware to run code not approved by Nintendo that their consoles might brick completely was definitely the way to go. That's how a company handles piracy and I absolutely like it.
On the other hand, if this news means opening the possibility of taking complete control of the Wii U hardware without circumventing cryptographic and hard-coded security measures that protect copyrighted content, count me in. I'd really like a Skype client on the Wii U, and it's unlikely Microsoft would license or develop one.
I defend the idea of being the complete owner of the hardware I have, all while respecting the rights and markets of the owners of the software that run on it.
Dr. Light's line tag is in binary. Converted to ASCII characters the string says "be mine". In case you missed it / aren't computer savvy / can't look it up / are just lazy.
This marketing idea is SO clever I actually like it. In game purchases, Nintendo style. I, for one, didn't see this one coming. On top of that, all without degrading the big name franchises.
Em... Fortunately, the GTS isn't full of people putting up random stuff for this thing. Yet. (Unfortunalety, the current situation is pretty much the same.) Once the movie is released, it will be the new Darkrai.
And yes, this, alongside the other two X/Y legends, was leaked on october. Kudos to the amazing people who did that possible, since it should have took a lot of effort, if not work, and it shows there are capable people. But it's at the same time a shame that the surprises are now ruined, for the most part.
Yeah, i know what it feels like. I recently got Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on the recent sale and I'm finding it overwhelmingly complex and sometimes frustrating, to be honest.

What a week.

Re: Hyrule Warriors Update to Bring New Game Mode
Hopefully it will be any sort of online mode. If it isn't it won't be a deal-breaker to me, though.
Also, pretty nice picture. It presents Queen Zelda as a femme fatale, or in Snake's words, as a thorned, beautiful rose.

Zelda and Yoshi. Perhaps a Palutena.

Re: Hyrule Warriors Downloadable Costume Sets Feature Twilight Princess Outfits for Link and Zelda
Is that a hookshot?
Is that the bridge of Eldin?
Above all: Is that TLOZ: Twilight Princess' Zelda?
My interest in this game has skyrocketed just with this batch of pictures.
EDIT: How about the Skull Kid wearing the Majora's mask being playable? Now that would be cool!
