Re: First Impressions: Kirby Wii

@8: I respect the fact that you like Kirby more than Mario. I disagree with you in one point, NSMBW was everything but uncreative. There were game mechanics that were used on only one stage, and it had a lot of variety.

Re: Super Mario 3DS Has More Thrills, Less Exploration

I didn't like the flyless tanooki suit. I never liked the time counter in the corner of the screen. That said, i feel this game is just not my style (Mario Galaxy, or Mario 64)

It's not that i hated new super mario bros, or even the 1985 classic, it's just a 3D game must be about exploration, IMHO.

Re: Regional eShops Will Continue to Offer Different Content

AlbertoC

@91: Honestly talking, i do not own a 3DS. As i stated on a previous comment, i based the eShop regions on the Wii/DSi regions, and it seems i was wrong. Can someone please verify the Green Lantern movie trailer fact? ...Then it seems we're on a different region than the USA? So i'm bound to understand that if nintendo doesn't get games here, i can't even import from the states? shudder... :S

Microsoft and Sony have their games fully translated. Why not Nintendo? And BTW, i don't care absolutely nothing in having to read, or hearing english dialog, too. So, i'm fine with those games, Ninty.

Re: Regional eShops Will Continue to Offer Different Content

@73: What are you talking about? It's the same eShop, since here american (as in the Americas) 3DSs are sold. It is region based: Japan, Americas, Europe, Korea, maybe other strange regions like China and Taiwan, (i don't know about the last one, but the others are based on the current Wii regions), not country based.

@75: What about Nintendo stop making delayed releases? I mean, we have to wait at least half a year to get main pokemon versions, to give an example. So, i'd complement your comment with: "Japanese are now in charge of the world. They decide where the red 3DS is distributed, and even mere digital downloads. " C'mon, they are just trailers, it's not that difficult to localize a trailer (as opposed to being an entire game), is it?

Re: Features: A View from Hyrule Field

Great article. I like the wording of phrases like,

"he camera sweeping through as Link rides Epona across and the incredible soundtrack plays. Death Mountain looms in the distance, the castle stands on the horizon, and the gamer cultivates a sense of expectancy."

"(Some spoilers, then) ...this is such a grave offense that propels you on your quest more than a simple directive would."

"In the real world, no one is a minor character in their own lives, a feeling that transcends to the population of the game. It pulls it off so well that even a big empty field feels special"

Also, i identified myself in there more than once.

Re: Pachter: Wii U is Too Late, 'Dumbest Name Ever'

AlbertoC

@30: Isn't it 2011 - 2 = 2009? Why 2012?

I think the main point is that Nintendo didn't show the console. Just some demos for casual games that, frankly talking, even i didn't liked. Nintendo had to show the true potential for games, "casual" and "core" ones, and not just a "There you go, distract yourself with this controller and wonder something and let us announce the console at a later time". I felt like that.

Don't get me wrong, i really like Nintendo games, but i don't see a future for Wii U for the time being... It is in serious need of big name games like Mario and Zelda, focus on innovating and keeping games deep in gameplay (We will be using the controller on a Zelda title for the menus? And then controlling like a 3DS? What will happen to Skyward Sword, motion controller based style? Or what will happen to the new controller if we're supposed to use the Wii Remote? We will use both? Whew...) or actual, tangible demos from 3rd party developers (If you recall, the footage shown was from XBox 360 products, google it for yourself, "Nintendo Admits It Used PS3 and Xbox Footage in Wii U Presentation"), if Nintendo is that busy working on titles for the 3DS.

Please Nintendo. You had momentum on the Stage, and i was just scratching my head... Let us see what innovations you have this time on mind, because aside very specific games, like survival horror game Fatal Frame, i can't think of anything cool for that peripheral. Like it or not, you're losing attention.

Lastly, i would like to point that this kind of comments are always like entering a mined field. Truth is, Pachter may have an analyst position, but ultimately it's the products Nintendo will offer, and the reception of consumers, what will make final positions.

Feel free to respectfully agree or disagree, everybody. You may have your own points.

Re: First Impressions: Super Mario 3D (3DS)

What, no flying? Awww. Aside from the tail, that's the point of having the SMB3 leaf item... Or in this case, the, also from SMB3, tanooki suit
Well, let's see the statue mode in action... Or it will be the tail and hovering only? nostalgia dissapointment

Re: First Impressions: Mario Kart (3DS)

@7: Yeah, you're right

Also, they're confirming that they will be bringing back more "retro courses". I wonder if we can get something neat this time, like GCN Mushroom City or N64 Yoshi Valley
