Hotline Miami Collection

Another busy week has slipped by as we descend inevitably into the clutches of 2020. Things kicked off with the Nintendo Indie World Showcase which featured some cracking 'available now on Switch eShop' games such as Superhot and Hotline Miami Collection. We got hands on impressions of the upcoming Witcher 3 Switch port. Nintendo gave us a better look at three of their big upcoming releases at Gamescom in Germany. And, perhaps most unforgettably, we all got a look at the bare chests of gaming's finest physical specimens, Dr. Robotnik and Wario. Lovely!

As we've finally reached the weekend, it's time once again to sit back, relax, and chat about our gaming plans. We've done that below and we'd love for you to get involved via our poll and comment sections below. Enjoy!

I've been well and truly back into my RPGs of late, and having spent three days doing every possible challenge, dungeon and quest in Cat Quest (roll on the sequel next month), In the meantime, I'll be jumping back into one of favourite games ever in Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, as well as going back and mopping up any final quests in the brilliant South Park: The Fractured But Whole. Time to get these games wrapped up before Geralt decides to bring his monster-hunting skills to Switch in the months to come.

You know, I write these plans every week with the very best of intentions, but life gets in the way sometimes. Last weekend I managed to find time to attach screen protectors to my new DSi XL, delete the old save files on a randomly acquired Brain Training cart and blast through two tracks of Elite Beat Agents. Will I actually get to sit down with Spirit Tracks this weekend?

Probably not, because I've got back into Kingdom Two Crowns. It's a supremely relaxing experience (if you know what you're doing) that has calmed me down a couple of times this past week. It's apparently getting updated on the 29th August with new Challenge Islands - I'm not sure I can be bothered with those, but I'm more than happy to soak in the sights and poke Greed-y attackers with pikes.

The Mrs is out this weekend, so I'll be catching up on a lot of gaming! I often go through spells of replaying some old classics, so I'll no doubt kick back with a bit of Mega Man Legacy Collection and Castlevania Anniversary Collection.

I've also recently become quite partial to a good racing game, so I may boot up the delightful Horizon Chase Turbo on Switch, and if I'm feeling up to it, a bit of Gran Turismo Sport on PS4!

Earlier in the week, I upgraded my Switch. No, I didn’t rush out and buy a slightly enhanced model; I simply replaced its microSD card with a bigger one. Now that I’ve got some much-needed free space, this weekend I’m planning to download a few titles I had to previously delete off my system. One of these is Capcom’s Devil May Cry, which is close to 10 GB in size. I can’t wait to play this one, as I never really gave the original series a chance back in the day.

As for the rest of the weekend – my attention will be on the Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age demo. I still can’t believe it’s 10 hours in length and you can transfer your progress across to the full version. That’s fantastic! I’m definitely looking forward to getting my journey well and truly underway.

Which games are you playing this weekend?
