Mash it up!

Some might claim that it's too little, too late, but Minecraft is available on Wii U and is getting some pretty amazing exclusive content, too.

The Super Mario skin pack recently went live and is free to download for anyone who owns the game already. It's also going to be bundled with the physical release of the game.

You might assume that it was Nintendo who approached Mojang and porting company 4J - cap in hand - with the idea of mixing Mario and Minecraft, but Nintendo's senior manager of licensing Damon Baker has revealed it was the opposite:

They actually came to us with what their vision was, and the extent of it, and blew us away. It still went through an official approval process through our art department at our head office in Japan, but it was really driven by them as the creative studios behind it.

While other Minecraft skin packs have been shared across multiple versions of the game, Baker - perhaps unsurprisingly - states that there are currently no plans to release the Mario pack on other consoles.
