Shin Megami Tensei

As some of you may remember, Sega acquired Index – the parent company for Atlus – about three years ago for roughly $141 million. On the consumer side of things, the effects of this weren't very noticeable, with it being mostly business as usual for the two game companies. There have, of course, been some positive effects of it, such as how Atlus' Japanese specialties have allowed Sega to localise several games in popular Japanese series', such as Yakuza and Project DIVA.

Though things are still expected to continue as usual, it was recently announced via Game Informer that Sega will now be handling the publishing of all future Atlus titles. The reason is mostly just to streamline things on the business side, and should be mostly unnoticeable to fans of Atlus games. On a slightly unrelated note, Sega also announced that Ivo Gerscovich will be the new senior vice president of Sega of America and the chief brand officer of the Sonic brand in the west. It's not entirely clear what this will mean for the Blue Blur going forward, but it's good to see some fresh blood taking the reins.

What do you think? Are you glad that Sega took over Atlus? What do you make of the new man in charge of Sonic? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
