Earlier today the European Nintendo Download update included some permanent price discounts from Two Tribes on its 'Classics' range. While the North American update isn't officially released until Thursday, the publisher has taken to Twitter to confirm that these price drops will also apply in North America.
This price of $1.99 was initially the early-bird price for the first month of release, before the increased prices arrived. It would seem that the company has realised these price points suit the games well and lead to stronger sales figures; below are the four titles that will be permanently reduced from Thursday.
Wii U eShop:
- RUSH (Two Tribes, $1.99, was $3.99)
- Toki Tori (Two Tribes, $1.99, was $3.99)
- EDGE (Two Tribes, $1.99, was $3.99)
3DS eShop:
- EDGE (Two Tribes, $1.99, was $3.99)
Are you tempted to pick any of these titles up at these lower prices?

Probably download Toki Tori just because I really have been curious as to what this game has to offer, is the sequel better?
I bought Toki Tori just before the new year. It was $1.99 with a huge "discount" label. The other 2 were also $1.99, but there was no mention of a discount anywhere on the eshop. So I thought the low prices were already permanent, for RUSH and EDGE at least.
Damn, I just bought all three of these last week.
Edge is fantastic! I have the 3DS version. I'd like to try Rush but I need the Wii U first
I wonder if this is because everyone would have bought them for that price anyway for the first week or so when they were put on the console. Then when the price went up, people probably never bought it.
Though those are great prices, I am not sure I am interested in those games. I have heard good things about Edge though so I may pick it up at some point.
Ya can't pass up a 1.99 deal, ya know.
@ueI Yeah, the first month of each release was an "early bird" offer.
@Buduski
Which is "better" is a tough call. Depends on what you want.
I prefer Toki Tori 2+ and think that it's not even close... but others feel differently. My thoughts about both games are offered below.
In the original Toki Tori game, each level is a single and self-contained stage where you have to figure out the right actions to let you collect all of the eggs without dying or getting trapped. Levels start our just one screen in size (if I remember correctly) and later grow to be quite large, but the goal always remains the same. It also gives Toki Tori a certain number of special abilities that can be used each level to reach his goal - which usually gives you some hint of what needs to be done - and more guidance about how things work in the game world. One downside with this game is that early on you can often brute-force puzzles because there are relatively few options available, while late in the game any small mistake will force you to restart the (sometimes lengthy) level from scratch which can be frustrating.
Toki Tori 2+ is very different: no special abilities outside of a butt-stomp and a whistle, no individual levels because the entire world is connected, and very little hand-holding. In my mind, this is a far better game because I really like the exploration and how you need to observe the environment and experiment to learn new things. As you play longer, the game becomes more interesting and rewarding because you've figured out so much on your own - the open world also will let you figure out puzzles in different areas at different times. The downsides include back-tracking (sometimes you won't even know there was a puzzle waiting to be solved your first time though an area) and vaguely defined goals (you really have to enjoy figuring out things for yourself).
Caveats: I've completed Toki Tori, but haven't finished Toki Tori 2+ yet. Also, I've never tried the original release of Toki Tori 2 - only the "plus" updated version that makes some things easier for players (pointing you towards the next big objective in a more clear fashion than the original did).
Edge @$2? Sold!
@ejamer, thanks for the feedback, I'll take a look at Toki Tori 2+ as well, after finishing Toki Tori.
I already downloaded all these when they were on the discounted price but I'm glad that others will be able to buy them at the cheaper prices too.
Already have Rush and definitely will get Edge also. Will be the third time I'm buying the game.
Previous ones were on Nokia Symbian phone years ago and on PC through Humble Bundle.
yes! Going to get edge now, I was looking for a cool new diversion at rock bottom prices to play on the train.
I just bought toki tori like 3 days ago too....
@Buduski The first is more structured with specific puzzle levels, whereas the sequel is much more open world, so they are both good, but in different ways. There's something really great about going through the levels of the first game, whereas the second is a more unique gaming experience.
Got Edge for 3DS at that price when it was released, so no loss for me. But Two Tribes should definitely consider amping their 3DS support, maybe they would have less financial problems then,
Looks like I'll finally play Toki Tori.
Great games, all of them. Can't go wrong at that price.
Awesome Now the question is not should I get EDGE, but which version of EDGE should I get?
@AshFoxX For only $2.00 a pop? Get both! I'm getting Edge on 3DS (I already have Wii U version) and maybe Rush. For $2.00 it won't be much of a loss if I don't like it.
I'll be downloading Toki Tori tonight!
They are all good. $2 is an absolute steal.
Get Edge and stick it to Tim Langdell for only $2.
@Buduski I picked up Toki Tori when it was $1.99 and it's well worth it.
It's a fun puzzler in the tradition of Solomon's Key, Adventures of Lolo, and Cat Trap. It's colorful, well animated, and is surprisingly challenging without being frustrating.
I'd recommend it unless you just don't like puzzle-solving games.
For those of us without a wii u it kinda sucks when you've already bought edge x-x
LOL... This morning I rushed to my WiiU to purchase the games, didn't notice this is only for Europe, but hopefully I'll be able to purchase at discount soon.
