Sorry, but they should be looking at what made the originals GOOD. Yes, they had puzzle solving aspects, but what made them GOOD was including RPG elements in it. The story element in the first 3 paper marios was unique and intriguing.

This game does fill a massive gap in the WiiU library, and stirs up the nostalgic feelings of child-like excitement I haven't had since early titles on the Wii. I can't wait!!!! I'm pretty sure this is the first time a third-party game has elicited a greater level of anticipation than any first-party title on a system.

@Aerona You won't be disappointed. I will be getting this game, simply because even a dull spark of resemblance to the original or TTYD is enough for me.

Please understand... it creates needless annoyance when you have a title with 'North America' in it without actually meaning 'North America'. Kinda like me saying UK but actually meaning England. Not offended, but slightly let down.

I would come to this site to escape the relentless onslaught of articles and images... but I'm not sad to see this article here. It just shows that this crisis is getting the attention it deserves. There's a lot of talk about what to do, I won't add to that, but awareness itself is a good thing.

@nessisonett Just noticed your avatar. Love it Anyways, I got the whole Pokemon thing backwards, I watched the show but never knew about the video games. I'd like to get into the series now, but I wouldn't have a clue where to start.

As far as the main Mario series, this game brought back the child-like wonder I hadn't felt since Super Mario World. The Paper Mario series will always be my fave, but this is certainly in my top 5.

Sigh, is he for hire? I've got two rooms and one nursery to be done. Best I've got is a few Nintendo themed teddies.

@creative92 I'm with you on that. Considering gaming is just a hobby for me, I might actually have some time and money to catch up on the many games I've had to pass on in the past few years.

Another reason why I love maternity leave. Three days of live streaming and I don't have to miss any of it. I think I'll set up the change table by the TV so I can even change a diaper without missing a beat. If only I could get my 2 year old to make lunch...

I was very impressed by the Galaxy games, better than SM3DW

I actually owned both, but for lack of time I always go back to play the second one. After the new features, playing the first one was tedious.

If anything, these type of games create a heavier reliance on sites like this, to give a (hopefully) unbiased third party review. I still read reviews for 1st party games, even though I know I'll probably get them.
Basically, it's training for new gamers. You spend money on a couple crappy games, and it makes you a much more savvy buyer in the future.

Wow, I'm surprised to see that I already figured most of this stuff out... other than I was always choosing either Metal Mario or Metal Peach. Good to know, but I still like the look of the metal characters over the other heavies, so I'll probably just stick with them. Metal in HD!!! Hate the look of the button wheels, but I do know they're one of the best.

I actually thought the lyrics for Yoshi's Woolly World were pretty clever...

Wow, comments dating back to 2011... Glad I just heard about it at E3, or that would have been a long wait!

If it had just been the Digital Event, I would have been mildly disappointed. The follow up with live Treehouse is genius. Games that didn't hook me in their reveal in the Digital Event certainly made a fantastic second impression in the Treehouse Demos. I really hope Nintendo sticks with this format for future E3s.

A solid Paper Mario would be awesome. TTYD is my favourite of all time, and I did enjoy the Wii one... but the 3DS version left something to be desired. So it's been a decade since I've truly been enthralled with a Mario RPG.

MKWii was my only online play, and since MKWiiU is coming out soon I don't have much to lament. I just loved the concept of racing people from other countries... Didn't even know it could do that before I bought it, and discovered that feature months later when I had wifi installed in my home. "Is it really letting me play against people from Japan??? NO WAY!"

It practically stopped after my baby was born, but now that she sleeps 12 hrs a night I'm catching up. I still don't get in near as much time as I used to, but that's probably a good thing.

This + Okami HD (for wii u), and I'd be set for life.

So incredibly psyched for this. Mario Kart 8 accounts for 33% of why I bought a Wii U. Another third goes to 3D world, and the last third is open for pleasant surprises (rayman being one of them).

It was pretty much an even split for X and Mario Kart for me. X is my guilty pleasure (okay kids, early to bed tonight, mom has some "work" to do), while Mario Kart is just pure fun.

I was just looking to see where to buy this game! I actually have it already, but I was just thinking if anything happened to it, where would I get another one. I already had to go through the headache of finding a new Okami.

@NbaJunkie I agree. I can still play DS games on my 3DS just fine. Meanwhile my all time favourites on Gamecube collect dust, as I'd rather not hunt down another TV to hook up my old Wii or Gamecube console.

@sinalefa I like the random select featue as well. Totally makes the game when my hubby and I play. I'm always secretly hoping for Toad, while I'm pretty sure his favourite is Peach (he'd never admit that).

During the 3DS conference, I actually squealed when they were showing Paper Mario. Nice to know there's at least one franchise that keeps bringing out child-like excitement in me.

Probably Wii Fit U. I couldn't get into Pikmin, and I'm good with one NSMBWii.
Rayman Legends looks good though for those who like that kinda thing.

As much as people didn't like Super Paper Mario, I still enjoyed it more that the NSMB games. Although, I do hope this one is most like the first two as well.
