Re: Leaker 'Pyoro' Locks Account After Claiming Their Source Works For Nintendo

sarcasmasquach

A lot of people here are claiming to know the fundamentals of journalism and yet, simultaneously don't know what a source is. Pyoro was not a source. If anything, they were an interview subject. A source is usually someone who won't go on the record but will share information. Pyoro apparently agreed to answer some questions on the record even though they seemed to have not understood what that meant.

@Xiovanni They work for this person.

So many games rely on musical cues that often kick in even before enemies make a sound or come into view. This part of the experience heightens the tension and when creators don't account for the needs of their fans, they are diminishing the potential enjoyment of their own product.

That this list doesn't feature anything pertaining to hearing loss or deafness is disappointing. Fortnite, for example, has on-screen sound indicators, something that other shooters should adopt.

Subtitles should be mandatory in all games, with toggle-able options of course.

Furthermore, any captioning should include sound effects and music cues.

Re: Pre-Orders Open For 8BitDo's "Most Advanced Controller" Ever

@Yorumi A statement was made as though it were an incontrovertibly objective fact that this particular controller which, mind, has not been released yet, is "...superior in every way to a pro-controller." That wasn't correct. It is superior in some ways to some people but also inferior in some ways to some people. Some times what people write and what they actually mean to say are two different things. If the original statement was about only the cost and the directional pad or even the customizable settings this would have been a totally different conversation.

@Yorumi It does have HD rumble and as for the sticks it was stated that some, like myself, will find it to be a turn-off. This is all about a matter of preference. I never felt comfortable with Sony's Dualshock controllers even when they first came out. Microsoft's X-Box 360 design has been my favorite layout ever since it was released and that's why, to me, the Pro Controller's layout is preferable to 8bitdo's, especially for games where the left joystick is the primary method of movement. In games where the D-pad is the primary method I would think that 8bitdo controllers are generally better from the placement alone. Some will not care that 8bitdo's controllers offer shorter battery spans and don't have NFC readers, in which case they should go get an 8bitdo if cost is also a factor. I'm sure many people have nothing but good things to say about the build quality of 8bitdo's controllers. But, it doesn't require much research to see that their stuff is still not quite as reliable as Nintendo's own Pro Controller. Better than Hori or Power A? Possible, perhaps even likely. Better than Nyko or other third-party pads, almost certainly.

@Yorumi Superiority is matter of some subjectivity. I think the Pro Controller will ultimately be the more comfortable of the two and it also has HD rumble, longer battery life and an NFC reader. Other than that, the SN30 Pro+ will probably end up having a better D-pad (we'll have to wait and see) as well as these customizable settings and a lower price point. But for some, like me, the aesthetics are not really all that awe-inspiring and the joystick alignment will be a turn-off for some, myself included. If the advantages mentioned are a real game-changer for someone, then yeah, it is superior. But for me, I don't really see the point of this controller because most of those advantages don't really matter to me. What I like most about the 8bitdo controllers generally are their prices and portability. It wasn't that long ago that Pro Controller was down to $57 for a while on Amazon and the SN30 Pro+ is not any more portable than a Pro Controller. So, while I know a lot of people have been amped for this and awaiting it for some time now, I don't think it's quite the big shake-up that people are making it out to be.
