@Joshiroth The pricing seems to be very different between NA and Europe then. I've never seen the Bravely Default CE for less than 89€ here and i can preorder the Curtain Call CE for a cool 55€ (shipping included) via Square Enix.
@PS4 Yeah, at least they're all $10 so it's not like in Japan where you have to get $20 equivalents for Mario and Luigi each and $30 equivalents for Peach and Bowser each.
For me it’s a bit too early to talk about what I’d really want as paid - and maybe even free - DLC. First i’ll have to spend some good time with it to really feel the game. But alright, let’s give it a try.
I’ve got a feeling that courses-wise only a pack containing four new retro cups would make sense. If you got it you should be able to choose how you want to play online.
Original Courses + New Retro Pack,
New Retro Pack only to get your money’s worth out of the download or
Original Courses Only to play with others that haven’t downloaded the pack.
What’d be most amazing is if this was playable in single-player- / local mode and let you unlock new characters, dedicated battle arenas, customisations and maybe even challenges like in the original cups that come with the game.
For 20€’s this would be a deal I’d certainly consider.
When it comes to characters there’s besically no limit from the ones mentioned in the articles over those featured in a MK game before up to a Baby Baddies Pack with Baby Wario, Baby Waluigi, Baby DK and Baby Bowser.
And I’ve got to agree, it could really be great to have challenges again. If done right they might even turn out to be one of the game’s highlights.
Bob-Omb's best. Edit: Okay, twitter convinced me that Green Shell ricochets hitting other drivers are the most amazing thing in the Mario Kart games. Keep going.
The only thing i remember about this game is that it was a fun ride. Dang, i don't even remember the boss-fights so i should probably replay it one day. I hope GBA's Klonoa 2 or maybe even its Klonoa Heroes will be available on the 3DS here one day.
The Prime scene that impressed me the most was when that one Chozo comes alive and carries you around Super Metroid style? I don't clearly remember. I plan to revive these memories one day and hopefully this time i'll be able to not just beat the first, but the other two games too.
That could at least be a good use of the GamePad. If they go through with this the game better be good though. Never played Wii Music but i think it's safe to say not many see it as one of the best Wii games.
The first one was a very fun timewaster.
It felt a lot fresher than Picross e2 and e3 to me. Partly because of having multiple nice music tracks.
However i do agree with @candymonster that the menu navigation could've been better and like so many others i've also fantasized about a level editor. I'll still get it without that though.
Only interested in the Wii U version and it would be a sure buy if it came to Europe. Gargoyle's Quest on the 3DS VC was some of the greatest time i ever had with something Game Boy.
At first i also was disappointed about the shift to 2D but @Sean_Aaron 's posts made me think of Oddworld New 'n' Tasty. With its use of 3D perspectives while still retaining 2D gameplay it's got the potential to feel way more refreshing than your usual 2D game. If Sadness delivers on that it might still turn out a fantastic game.
This would be perfect for cross-play. The way it is right now i'll rather wait for the 3DS version. If they enable Wii Remote controls one day i'll probably think about getting it on the Wii U instead or additonally.
It's also worth noting that Paste Magazine gave the game a 8.8 which is not to far off from the score it got here. It also closes with the following words:
the core of Mario Kart 8 delivers exactly what I wanted—a return to the “friends screaming at each other, red-spark generating, mercilessly hitting-each-other-with-shells” action that made the series fun from the start.
And Paste Magazine might just have found the reason why Ninty doesn't appeal to a lot of western gamers anymore. While Mario Kart is the wrong place to start this discussion it is an interesting perspective after all.
They've most certainly talked the talk, now they better walk the walk at E3.
I think they just have to show something bold then instead of basically ignoring the GamePad like in recent releases.
Personally i like the thing when it's used right and i agree that NFC could become huge for Nintendo if they got the right killer app.
Will NFC alone change people's opinions on the controller though?
Will Ninty be able to communicate their other stuff to people that only got the system for these functions?
Only time will tell.
No more holding that Wario Ball the wrong way, Red! At least that's what i'd say if all these adorable Nendoroids wouldn't look like too much of an expense to me.
I still find it a bit strange that this never made its way into the West considering how well the DS was doing and how many good games it got that weren't afraid of doing something new and not appealing to what you'd typically call a gamer. It makes more sense as a download title imo though, so maybe that's what they were waiting for.
And once again this makes me wish for more creativity in the 2D Mario games. Seriously, even if it only had half of Galaxy-freshness it would still make for a breathtaking game. And a Pikmin game like that on the 3DS? Oh yes, please!
Statistics are fun, so here we go again.
If you go by the lifetime sales from the other article the attach rates of NSMBU, Nintendo Land, SM3DW and NSLU on the Wii U are all higher than the attach rate of Pokémon X & Y on the 3DS. NSMBU's, Nintendo Land's and SM3DW's on the Wii U are higher than MKW's on the Wii. Pokémon X & Y , MK7 and SM3DL on the 3DS have a higher attach rate than NSMB on the DS.
@unrandomsam That sounds reasonable. Less Wii U owners should mean less used games so you might have to buy the games new instead. Or many don't want to sell the games they've got or something.
So on average every Wii U owner has bought about 3 games last year while every 3DS owner bought about 1.5. Many of the 3DS buyers probably only got the system for Animal Crossing. I wonder if the Software Sales numbers include eShop sales.
I might even get the game at launch now. I've got my sight set on the limited edition and the free download should offer enough value to make its price look right to me.
I don't think it makes any sense to exclude the Balloon Fight stage from the Wii U release since its most prominent version was on a home console. And it's in NES Remix as well.
A SNES Remix is practically a must. The games really deserve that treatment and it shouldn't be too hard for Ninty to put it together.
There could even be enough NES meat left to complete a NES Remix trilogy with games like Mother, StarTropics, Nintendo World Cup, some other Ninty published releases as well as third party titles.
And while personally i'd really like to see a Game Boy Remix i'm not so sure if a lot of people really want black and white graphics.
In general i think NES Remix was a great way to get people interested in the full games again. So it'd be neat to see as many great or at least nostalgia-laden 2D games get the Remix treatment.
Even remixes for the Zapper games, Master System or Arcade games wouldn't be too farfetched imo.
It was a really great time playing games like Wario Land, Mario's Picross, DK '94, Kirby's Pinball Land, Battletoads, Kirby's Star Stacker and the Donkey Kong Lands as a kid.
It's also great to discover stuff like The Sword of Hope II, Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters, Kirby's Block Ball, Bionic Commando, Catrap, Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge, Gargoyle's Quest, Avenging Spirit and Game & Watch Gallery for the first time on the 3DS VC.
Now if Ninty really wants me to celebrate all of its great games and make a buttload of money from me they'll give the VC games the multiplayer options that were in the original releases.
While it would be sad if the NES Remix games only were on the 3DS and not the Wii U the gameplay and Miiverse features would be a perfect fit for a portable system. And since you can also download a lot of NES games on the 3DS it would be stupid not to offer the Remixes on the 3DS one day imo.
I agree that "Game Boy Remix" games could be awesome and i'd also love to see some co-op levels in future "Remix" titles. Maybe as DLC?
A competetive mode where you play the same levels side-by-side wouldn't hurt either. Yes, even online.
Now if we could get something like this for all the fine third party classics it would feel like a hell of a celebration of some of the greatest games ever made.
I wonder if it has pictures that i'd rather have in color. If not i'd be interested in the B&W pocket paperback. If it ships to Germany and said shipping isn't too expensive.
If you're really passionate about being a dev you'll make something that hasn't been done before. Some day people will become tired of getting the same thing over and over again so gaming would be in a very hard place if it doesn't have something up its sleeve when that time arrives. I'm not saying simple sequels that basically only evolve graphically don't have their place in the industry but there should be lots of new and breathtaking stuff as well.

Quite sure i'd pay for a translated version on the Wii U eShop. I'm normally not a fan of RPG's but it all sounds so unique and intriguing.
