Capcom's annual Captivate event came and went without even a smidgen of Nintendo-related news. The biggest Nintendo story? That Resident Evil 6 isn't coming to Wii U — not now, anyway.
IGN asked producers Yoshiaki Hirabayashi and Hiroyuki Kobayashi if their upcoming horror shooter would find a way to Nintendo's new console later this year.
Unfortunately, RE6 will not be available at this time on the Wii U. Right now we're concentrating on the PlayStation 3 version, 360 version and the PC version of the game.

Resident Evil 6: Wii U Edition.
Capcom: No plans to be successful at this time. Plans to continue making bad decisions in attempt to scam customers, be a douche and piss off customers still on track.
Although RE6 would be nice, it won't make or break the WiiU. It can always be ported over later, but if WiiU could kick off some new IP's, that would be nice as well. Right now, there's much more important stuff find out about the WiiU than just this.
sigh...e3? maybe? crosses fingers
Did Capcom just troll Nintendo? >_>
They said for us to look forward for something....WHERE IS IT? :/
EDIT: Ugh, hate it when I make stupid errors like that. >_>
Why does everyone dislike Capcom at the moment? I don't get it. Did they murder a load of children over Easter?
Resident Evil 4 is Game Cube exclusive. Some time later... RE4 on everything but the kitchen sink.
@James
A lot of build up from devious stuff like on disc dlc and the cross assult stuff. Oh and mega man. Still picking up dragons dogma so haters can hate.
I know there is a picture of all the somewhat horrible stuff that capcom has done.
I was burned bad by RE5. Will only buy 6 if it drops on Wii U. My 360 will getting very few games over the next year.
Yeah and that's what they said about monster hunter on the 3ds. I don't believe anything they say anymore. They are the new Nintendo with withholding information!
@James
I just hope that Capcom release RE6 later on for the Wiiu.
Is this a bad sign for Wii U, when an A+ title will be released for a prior generation's console, but not your next-gen console that is supposedly more powerful? Is this an unspoken indicator by Capcom that Wii U isn't very powerful, or does it simply have to do with RE6's release date being before Wii U?
@Sony_70
Yup, that picture pretty well sums up Capcom's STEEP fall from grace in my eyes. I've lost respect for them I'd built up over decades. It's sad. My three favorite third parties, Capcom, Konami, and Square Enix are presently shadows of their former selves (at least in my opinion). This is pretty much a new day in video games, and it makes me want to go back to bed.
This is Capcom after all folks. I am sure you will be able to play Code Veronica HD, Resident Evil 4 HD, Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 on the Wii U within a year of its launch.
@Sony_70
Let's not forget them trying to make Street Fighter x Tekken a huge DLC scam, with no no Gems mode, Gems which effect the balance of the game sold as DLC, 1/3rd of the game on the disk is locked and must be purchased separately. After the huge backlash because of it (they thought people wouldn't notice or something?) they announced they would release some of the content for free but are still selling "Super Street Fighter x Tekken" as DLC only for the original game, which solves many of Capcom's complaints such as used game sales and cutting on manufacturing costs, while having no increased development or productions costs. Then announcing what they are doing is completely legal and they were not breaking any laws, as if they was apparently the issue everyone was complaining about and it wasn't that everyone felt cheated. Oh, and Street Fighter x Tekken is thought of by many, as a terrible and boring game itself, which Capcom has not announced any plans of improving though patches, nor are there any plans to patch Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and its balance issues.
@FluttershyGuy: The magical golden era of gaming (NES, SNES, Genesis in my opinion; N64 & PSX are just blah ) may have passed but I am still finding games that I have never played before from those two generations that will keepme busy for a long time yet!
I don't get the Capcom hate either.
Sure, they make some unpopular business decisions regarding DLC and localization. (They are a business after all, and earning profits is kind of the key reason for their existence.) Sure, they have some quality and PR mishaps. But they also release a ton of great games, do their best to communicate with and involve fans as much as possible. and have provided me with some of my absolute favorite gaming experiences over the past couple of years.
Meh, whatever. As long as the good games keep coming, let people hate all they want.
As for RE6: I bet it'll come to Wii U eventually if the game is well received, just like I bet that Revelations will show up on Vita. Capcom loves money, and porting popular games to new consoles is a great way to grab some cash. It's not like they are anti-Nintendo after seeing two good/great exclusive RE games released on 3DS.
Considering that Capcom already has a dev team of over 600 people, I'm happy that they've decided to not go down the route of hiring on more people. There's already a good chance that the team is too big that the game will likely be a huge flop, no matter how coordinated they are and how much work is put into the title.
they better start planing wii u version. Don't wanna keep my 360 just for that game.
I don't understand why they support the handheld system with the franchise, but not the home console. I'm not going to claim to know anything about what goes into developing a game, but it seem odd that they wouldn't focus on a brand new system and instead stick with the old ones.
This is gonna happen no doubt.
I was planning on getting this game on 360 anyways, but it sucks that it's not coming on Wii U. Also, Capcom is one of my favorite companies but I disagree with a lot of stuff they are doing. My main problem with them is not releasing Miles Edgeworth 2 outside of Japan.
I was planning on getting it on PS3 anyways.
That Capcom timeline says they killed off Street Fighter's Dan. Is that true?
As far as I'm concerned, Resident Evil ended at 4 - the last good RE game for me. I've become something of a retro gamer recently anyway - discovering old classics I've never played before. Great games, no DRM, no patching or DLC - everything modern day Capcom is not. Modern gaming is just a confusing mess these days thanks to the likes of Capcom.
Have you guys even SEEN the trailer? This game looks like garbage. It's so generic hurts. And the zombies have guns. THE ZOMBIES HAVE GUNS.
THIS IS RE:CoD EDITION
This makes me worried about WiiU´s 3rd party support. Yeah, lots of games have been announced for it but not all of those I´m interested in, like Metal Gear Revengeance.
@SanderEvers
I´m going to use that quote from now on.
It´s been said many times by now but since we have a Cashcom related news I´ll say it again, not that it makes my life better: Crapcom, you suck for not localizing Ace Attorney Investigations 2 and I won´t buy any of your games until you bring it to the west.
...So the Wii U version isn't in the works yet? Not surprised, they probably want to see how it does first before they dedicate an enhanced port to that system. Or they may even to make an original RE for it that's based around the new controller, but that may be even further down the line.
That's surprising. But I already know it will happen so I'm not worried. It's Port-com we're ralking about here. They'll put this on WiiU as just a easy port cause it'll make them money.
I think it's inevitable that RE 6 will be on Wii U, the games have always sold well on Nintendo platforms and the Wii U hardware will at the very least be as capable as the 360 and PS3 so it makes sense. Capcom has made some stupid decisions but I can't believe they'd be so stupid as to miss an obvious opportunity like this one.
I'm gonna take the conspiracy route and say they're waiting until E3 to give us details on it. It would be a missed opportunity for Capcom NOT to release it on WiiU. I also heard that some early tests showed that it was extraordinarily easy to port things from PS360 to WiiU. I guess if it doesn't come to WiiU then it'll find a home on my PS3.
disappointing. but i still think a resident evil game wil be on the wii U, so it's not a matter of will there be one, but when will there be one. likewise capcom, i prefer the capcom of the 90s than today. at least back then they were creative and didn't just rely on streetfighter games but other franchises too. megaman, rival schools, darkstalkers to name.
The only difference between the Capcom of before and the Capcom of today is that we weren't aware of the things they did, or at least we didn't let it bother us.
@James
uh, didn't you write this above article? No one is going to jump for joy over news like this.
I'm not all mad about this since surely it'll come to WiiU eventually but it seems like a pretty bad decision given it's a new and powerful system, I can totally understand fans being pretty pissed off. It just looks bad for WiiU that it's not even planned for it, as if it can't handle it or something.
They cancelled Megaman Legends 3 and now it sound like they won't bring RE6 to the WiiU. Keep on bring the disappointment Capcom.
Capcom, "Building Up False Hopes Since 1979"
If it's like RE5 and/or CoD, then I'll read the plot online. Like RE4, rent and if I like it, not retu- I mean buy. But it's probably gonna end up on Wii U.
Look at RE4. They say it's gonna be GCN exclusive. Then they turn around a year later and release an enhanced port for PS2.
PS3 version, day one.
Bad news for Nintendo-only gamers.
As a Nintendo fan some things that Capcom has done has annoyed me (such as them saying that the Wii couldn't even run the RE5 title screen) but they did provide me with MH3 and Tatsunoko vs Capcom so it's about 50/50 to me.
I guess that I won't be getting RE6 now. I doubt it'll be a great loss though, as they've recently said that survival horror doesn't sell well and so will probably take a more action based approach with RE6 (which I didn't like in RE5). It is a shame as Revelations was the best RE that I've played in quite a while because it had more atmosphere than action.
Nintendo fanboys...
I know Capcom hasn't necessarily been making smart decisions lately, but you guys need to realize that the Wii U is completely different than the PS3, Xbox 360, and the PC. It's going to take some time before they can make this game Wii U compatible.
Look at the article's title. Wasn't that what Nintendo said regarding the Operation Rainfall games?
I can see Capcom waiting for a decent WiiU install base and then release the game with all the DLC in the disc, similar to the PS2 version of RE4. Or the PS3 port of Mass Effect 2. Late version, but definitive version.
I can still get the game on PS3 if I am interested. And it is hard to ignore the mistakes that Capcom has done recently, and their gigantic greed regarding DLC. Thanks to Sony_70 for showing me some things I did not know.
Why do I care?
People need to get over the hate on Capcom over Megaman...
Really...
@Mickeymac that is true

I agree.
Shame. Would have made for a good launch title...
Well, considering that Capcom said recently that survival horror games don't sell anymore and that they plan to make Resident Evil 6 more of an action game so that they can get Call of Duty level of sales, I am not particularly interested in this game anyway. However, Resident Evil is still a major series and Nintendo needs to have this franchise on the Wii U in order to attract more gamers to their new system. Hopefully Capcom will port this game to the Wii U in the future for the people out there who don't have an Xbox 360, PS3 or a PC.
I'll be getting this for the Xbox 360, so Nintendo just lost a customer here (not saying that I won't be getting the Wii U, mind you.)
Hating Capcom is the new "cool" thing. I say we all switch over to Sega. Damn you Sega! You make games differently than I want you to! Sonic Generations only had 2 Sonics! Etcetera.
Not gonna miss it anyway we all know its turning into hollywood action trash. The best part of revelaitions was raid mode and jills T & A. RE6 belongs with the consoles that are already drowning in a sea of FPS and 3rdPS. I'm looking for new gameplay ideas when WiiU releases and more VC.
@WolfRamHeart You said, "Well, considering that Capcom said recently that survival horror games don't sell anymore and that they plan to make Resident Evil 6 more of an action game so that they can get Call of Duty level of sales, I am not particularly interested in this game anyway."
I totally concur. This is my concern as well. I have o% interest in COD and if this is just a clone with a bit of scary veneer, it won't be enough in my opinion. I will wait for reviews before deciding if I want it for my PS3 (newly acquired!). It'll be a tough sell for me based on what I have seen and heard so far.
My god, it's April and it's due out in November. Wait until then until you make judgement on whether you're going to buy the game or not.
@waveboy: When has RE ever had an interesting plot?
@Aviator: nooooo, not common sense! how dare you display that here?!
@Aviator October 2nd is the new release date.
Point still stands.
I agree with you. Just mentioning the new date.
I've seen all i need to see, have it pre-ordered already.
Damn it! >.<
@Sony_70 - Brilliant!
@James - It's weird...Capcom continue to make horrendous decisions (Mega Man, DLC, etc.), yet they continue to make awesome games that look purdy & are a ton of fun to play (see SSFIV & Revelations on 3DS). This trend looks set to continue with the trifecta of Resident Evil 6, Devil May Cry (get over it, haters), and Dragon's Dogma...I want to buy all of them...but I'll just have to ignore any DLC that will inevitably arrive.
EDIT: Anyone with doubts about Resident Evil 6 should read this:

The game really does sound awesome, IMO.
@James
Well, as far as I know, Capcom did not murder a bunch of children over Easter. Most likely because they wouldn't make money off of doing something like that.
People made fun of me for being angry that I'd have to pay for extra outfits that are already on the disc of Street Fighter IV. They weren't laughing when this practice spread to content they actually cared about.
@sony_70
Is that far-left one on the second row Final Fight Double Impact?!
I'm glad that doesn't apply to the XBox 360 version because the ethernet port on mine is broken (Don't ask me how; I have no idea) and M$ wants about a hundred bucks to fix it.
@James: I don't like the decisions they've been making lately, and the straw that broke this camel's back was the lack of action regarding Cross Assault. They've told me flat-out that they don't want my money, and so I won't be giving them any of it. I think I'll make a special point of buying the last few titles of theirs i wanted (that they haven't canceled or screwed over somehow yet) used — i don't like doing that because i never wind up with the original case and manual, but I'd rather GameStop take my money than Capcom at this point in time. eff 'em.
hey, you asked :3
**Looks up Cross Assault.**
Wait! You're mad at Capcom over a TV show?
@DrDaisy: it's a bit more complicated than that. It's not my only reason for not giving them my money anymore, it was just the straw that broke the camel's back, as I said.
If you're planning to argue it with me, please do yourself a favor and don't. Thank you in advance.
@theblackdragon
I'm not arguing, I just want to know the details.
And threats are unprofessional.
