Anyway on topic, I thought this looked like a nice bit of fun despite the fact I don't enjoy FPS'. Sure, it's not a 'proper' Metroid game but I don't see the problem. Maybe it's a spin-off? Maybe they only showed a few small portions of the overall game? Maybe it's still nowhere near finished and they're gauging reactions to determine what to change and what to keep before release?
@G_M You appear to be new here so let me be the first to inform you that THAT is not how we treat people here.
There was absolutely no reason to say that to @Volmun (who's first language IS, in fact, English, I know him offline. He suffers from severe dyslexia).
Why does a persons first language matter as long as people are able to understand said person anyway? Besides which, there's a very obvious difference between people who don't speak English as their first language and people who do yet have difficulties with their spelling/grammar, I suggest you learn the difference as well as how to treat others as you would like to be treated.
It also appears you even went so far as to make an account JUST to say that then go on to make a ridiculous remark about the articles topic with literally no elaboration or intelligent points, unlike my friend who you greatly insulted. That's just sad, it's idiots like you who deserve that treatment, not the innocent, relatively intelligent ones who are simply trying to lead as normal a life as they possibly can.
Well, this certainly came out of the blue! Definitely gonna grab this one, I love the WiiU game and I don't normally play Warriors games, last game I played that was even vaguely similar before Hyrule Warriors was Mystic Heroes on the Gamecube but boy was it horrible to progress in that...
@BinaryFragger Yes, because pieces of plastic with pretty pictures and one version of a device you could easily have never gotten full-stop is totally worth more than a whole bunch of decent games. That makes sense. Not that my "complaint" was technically even a complaint, it was simply a statement about my lack of understanding.
Also I'm sorry but said sweeping generalisation does happen to be mostly true. You don't see large quantities of people from any other region whining nearly as much as Americans do when they miss out on something as minor as, again, pieces of pretty plastic or one version of a device. Think of it this way, at least you got a New 3DS full-stop, it could've just as easily been like so many consoles that never left Japan at all.
It's not just this either, every time America's missed out on something, there's been large quantities of Americans whining yet when any other region has, there's been a few complaints and that's it, really. Mostly just queries and "meh"s.
Oh and for the record, you Americans get a LOT more gaming merchandise, events and stores than us Brits and Europeans not to mention the fact you almost always get everything before us so sorry if I appear to be a bit bitter and cynical towards Americas childish complaints when it comes to these things.
@ianolivia You can buy them for like £10 here, if that so no, I'm not incredibly stupid and you're replying to someone who clearly wasn't responding to anyone... I'm only responding now because you made such a ridiculous point that only showed your own ignorance.
Really though, the sense of entitlement in America these days never fails to astound me.. It's just a few pieces of plastic with pretty pictures on them, do you REALLY care that much? Sorry, America, you need to learn you can't have everything and move on with your lives. Most of the faceplates are dull and boring anyway, these three are no exception. I could just as easily have made some stencils, bought some New 3DS shells (or New 3DS XL shells, if I didn't have the normal model) and painted them myself. Probably cheaper too since the faceplates are £15 a piece.
Boo hoo, poor deprived Americans not getting a service WE pay for with OUR TV licences. Not like you get hundreds more TV channels than us anyway (sarcasm).
Besides, iPlayer's always had a terrible choice of shows on it anyway. What shows it DOES have often don't have every episode or are only there for certain periods. It often breaks mid-stream too, resulting in long buffering or a complete crash. Trust me, Americans, you're not missing out.
I get a good amount when I head into town (currently at least twice a week) and I'm in Plymouth, the forgotten city (in the UK). Not sure how many are from Wifi hotspots though.
I wouldn't want the Golden Axe one on my wall... I'd... be recieving some questions from my parents since I'm a girl... o_o' I don't like the JSR one much, Beat looks really weird there and it loses all of the charm of its visual style, I love the rest though.
@CharlyDunst No but it means it is a VERY good effort on the one persons part, also, the video is probably of an early build. If it looks professional quality (visually and animation-wise) in an early build, just think what the final product could be like. There's still time for him to fix up the gameplay, voices and level layouts.
@DThrow_UAir How do you know we don't? How do you know we haven't attended courses, been taught other ways or made any games for fun?
Besides, there are a lot of game devs and game dev students here and you don't need to know how to make a game to be able to recognise good or bad game design when you see it anyway, all you need is some form of gaming knowledge and experience.
It looks amazing considering it's made entirely by one person. That's what most of you seem to be forgetting (or ignoring) here. It's not made by a massive team, it's ONE GUY and it looks like it was made by a larger team. That makes it amazing in my books.
Sadly, I never played Power Stone due to never having a functioning Dreamcast long enough to get it but I'm a massive fan of 3D fighting games and all derivatives of them so I'd be more than happy to see something like it on the WiiU, Nintendo needs more fighters to draw that scene in.
@Kawaiipikachu Um, if you scrolled down by, like, 3 comments, you would see I was already corrected on that topic and I already accepted that correction. There's no reason whatsoever to correct me again.
@Todd102030 Oh, right. I was just going off what it claimed to be on the game box at the time. I'm pretty sure the built in reciever/transmitter on the GBC was infrared though, since it has that red tint (I'm no engineer or tech whiz lol).
@James_mussell98 Yeah, I wish it had Pokemon Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Fire Red and Leaf Green on it (I still think the GBA Virtual Console being on WiiU but not 3DS is ridiculous, handheld games should at least stay on handheld consoles and vice versa, having both on both is ideal but keeping them to their respective platform types should be the bare minimum).
@TossedLlama No problem.
@Todd102030 It was definitely infrared.
@nintendofwbaby If Nintendo ever made such a thing, I'm sure he'd be using it but alas, they have not. Sony just so happens to be one of the best companies for audio equipment.
@TossedLlama Only for GBA, as I recall, which came with Pokemon Fire Red/Leaf Green and was also compatible with Pokemon Emerald. It was Infra Red though, not Bluetooth. The GBC also had an Infra Red transmitter/reciever built in.
@RegalSin You seriously believe sawdust, of all things, causes cancer? Hard luck for any construction workers, furniture makers, lumberjacks, gardeners etc. and anyone (such as myself) who happens to own a rabbit, guinea pig, mouse, rat, hamster or other rodent then.. Not to mention anyone who may spend a lot of time sharpening pencils (such as a teacher or office worker)... I mean really, how many of these people have gotten cancer from sawdust?
@Kaze_Memaryu I got it from playing both franchises since they started. All of those complaints clearly came from people who don't know how to play the games properly and you pretty much just said yourself that you've only played Tekken Tag Tournament 2 which is actually built to be easier to pick up and play than all previous iterations of the series.
I haven't met a single person who knows how to play the games properly and has made the complaints you're making. Let me put it this way: If these games are as bad as you say they are, why don't they get much, if any, flak? Why are they always rated among the top fighting games (especially Tekken)? Why are Namco always credited as being among the best at creating 3D fighters? Oh and don't go saying "But none of that is true!" because as well as playing the franchises since they started, I've also followed them and Namco themselves since these franchises started.
@Kaze_Memaryu Tekken and SoulCalibur don't even have balancing issues though (ok, SoulCalibur V does). The whole point is each character has their own strengths and weaknesses. You, as the player, have to exploit these. It's that simple, it's also how all 3D fighters that require an ounce of skill work. If all 3D fighters were perfectly balanced, there would be no skill required and they would all be boring spam-fests.
Therefore, NamcoBandai are not incompetent when it comes to 3D fighters. They understand exactly how to make the games just challenging enough to require skill but not so challenging they become impossible (aside from some of Tekkens boss fights and some of SoulCaliburs campaign missions).
@Kaze_Memaryu So you're saying Tekken and SoulCalibur, two of the best and most popular 3D fighting game franchises, are bad? In this video, it actually doesn't look like there's that much free-roaming. It looks more like Tekken and SoulCaliburs style of movement, a full 8 directions in a 3D arena but only moving in directions other than forward and backwards while dodging which a D-pad is best for.
Oh and FYI: NamcoBandai helped develop Smash for WiiU and 3DS as well as developing a whole host of anime-based fighting games so by saying they're incompetent with fighting games, you're also saying all of these games are bad on top of Tekken and SoulCalibur.
I really hope this will see a WiiU release with Tekken 6 style campaign mode and, possibly, Tekken style customisation!
Also, if not already announced, Sneasel or at least Weavile please! That's my favourite evolution line and it could easily play like the usual token ninja characters!
@ShadJV Exactly, it's ridiculous! Offering games for free isn't harming anyone! You don't HAVE to pay money and if no one did, Nintendo would still be raking it in off other products! It's a win/win!
@PokeNas It is a full game. You can beat it without paying a penny/cent if you so wish. You're only spending money on the higher cost balloons which is only if you want to collect all the Pokemon, again, an optional feature. I've gotten all the way to rank 25 and counting without spending any real money.
Also, how is one or two people going to make a difference by not downloading it? One or two downloads is nothing, it's a pointless effort. You might as well give it a fair try instead of just going "Hurr, dey wants mah moneyz, nope".
@TeeJay So you don't want a full game for free? That's what this basically is. You only pay money if you WANT to, not if you NEED to. You'd rather pay £30 to £40? I really fail to see any sense in your logic here...
@Windy I guess because they have PS3, PS4 and Vita for that. They probably assume most Sony gamers will only buy it on, funnily enough, Sony hardware, unfortunately.
@Dankykong That's a bad thing? This way, at least it'll get some recognition instead of being perpetually stuck in obscurity as it was until now. I'd, personally, welcome more remakes of forgotten gems like this such as Scaler and Vexx.
@andrew20 It was on DS so you could just play that version on your 3DS/New 3DS but why should they be obligated to put the remake on 3DS/New 3DS anyway? Maybe they simply feel it won't look or run as nicely on 3DS/New 3DS.
Unless you haven't got any of the listed platforms (or a PC/Mac that's capable of running semi-decent games), I see absolutely no reason to get the PS2 version instead of this remake, to be honest. Yes, the PS2 version's cheaper but it lacks the quality and finish the remake will no doubt have.
People actually acknowledge this games existence?! I own it on PS2 and love it, aside from the bad voice acting and even worse ending (I won't spoil it) but I've never met anyone who even knows it exists! I'll definitely pick this up!
Reminds me an awful lot of Spectrobes for the DS (disappointing that no one ever mentions that game when talking about this one, does it not exist anymore?) but without the singing.
Not sure why so many people are moaning about shelf space here... They're keychains... They don't go on shelves and if you DO choose to display them that way, they barely take up any space anyway. You can even put them on and between things on said shelves...
@MetalKingShield It isn't anymore? I must've imagined the plethora of amazing games it still recieves on a regular basis as well as constant system updates that often add new features.
@mjc0961 Uh... yes, yes it all did... You probably assume this because you never leave your 3DS on to know otherwise but Streetpass and Spotpass both work constantly while the 3DS is left running. Only times it doesn't work is if you're in a DS game, in the case of Spotpass nowhere near an access point or in the case of Streetpass, in a very secluded area with not many other people with 3DS' around such as in a small town or out in the sticks somewhere.
The game itself looks fine but that voice over's SO annoying! The characters designs look awful too, they look like someone from the people who made those Dalmatians and Animal Soccer games (look them up if you don't know them) or even cheap knock-off cereal boxes...
EDIT: Oh Jesus christ! I just tried the free demo you linked in the article and... It doesn't even work! It doesn't load the level at all! It just loads audio, some sort of completely blue scenery with vague outlines of trees, random floating text behind the trees and black background. When I tried a second time, there's was an addition of some colourful bars everywhere behind the trees.... I also had trouble exiting the controller mapping screen after entering it. I know this is an alpha build but come on! At least make it playable before making it publicly available!
It's 2.5D, not 2D. Nitpicking aside, this looks REALLY good! Like a combination of Sonic Colours and Rayman Legends/Origins. The music reminds me of Sonic 3 (especially that "come on!") crossed with Rayman 3 and a bit of Mario when that jazzy bit comes in!
Not saying this game is awful because of this (as well as the 3DS games ban glitch) but really? This game gets a glitch that BRICKS SYSTEMS and WIPES MEMORIES and the vast majority still considers it a good game, a Sonic game gets a couple glitches that leave you having to reset the game and play from the last save (oh noes!) which I, personally only encountered once and it was my own fault, and it's an awful game, the new '06, worst game ever, no one should touch it. BRICKING CONSOLES and WIPING MEMORIES is much worse than simply having to restart from the last save.

Only times it doesn't work is if you're in a DS game, in the case of Spotpass nowhere near an access point or in the case of Streetpass, in a very secluded area with not many other people with 3DS' around such as in a small town or out in the sticks somewhere.

@Einherjar Wasn't it released?
Re: Clive 'N' Wrench Aims to Bring Back Those Rare 3D Platforming Memories on Wii U
Re: 2D Platformer Mekazoo Swinging onto Wii U Later This Year
It's 2.5D, not 2D.
Nitpicking aside, this looks REALLY good! Like a combination of Sonic Colours and Rayman Legends/Origins. The music reminds me of Sonic 3 (especially that "come on!") crossed with Rayman 3 and a bit of Mario when that jazzy bit comes in!
Re: Weirdness: Sonic Boom Writer Jokes About Knuckles Infinite Jump Glitch Being Canon, Fan Video Makes It So
Oh God, I'm so glad that's not official. The constant pause screen in such quick succession gave me a slight headache and started to drive me mad!
Re: Weirdness: Stop-Motion Animator Successfully Makes the Power Glove Awesome, and Useful
Please tell me I'm not the only person who found that Shigeru Miyamoto and Bill Gates scene hilarious!
Re: Super Smash Bros. Players Encounter Wii U Error Code Problem
