Re: Video: This Pokkén Tournament Commercial Should Provide a Timely Reminder of Wii U Release Hype

@khaosklub See, all you're doing is making incorrect assumptions about me as a person. No, I didn't get DOA because it was a 3D fighter. I got it because I played a demo and enjoyed it as a game, I didn't even know what a 3D fighter was aside from Soulblade (which was completely different) back then.

About Kirk, no, he has no right to outright claim someone's sad for wanting to get a spin-off game without playing the rest of the franchise first, that's just a ridiculous way to react. There's a difference between being passionate and outright insulting someone. There's plenty other ways to be passionate without upsetting or insulting an individual.Besides, I highly doubt he'd say that to the persons face and if he did, I highly doubt he'd walk away after. He could've just as easily, as someone else pointed out, simply stated that it wouldn't be the best game to start with and recommended a different one instead or simply accepted the choice the person had made and said nothing to him but no, he instead chose to insult the person for making what he believes to be a poor gaming choice.
His reaction just reminds me of all the Sonic fans that do exactly that to the people who like games like Sonic '06 and Shadow the Hedgehog. It's unnecessarily hurtful.

Re: Video: This Pokkén Tournament Commercial Should Provide a Timely Reminder of Wii U Release Hype

@khaosklub Actually, Dead or Alive was only the second 3D fighter I ever played and I never had any interest in Ninja Gaiden or boobs. I have also played and enjoyed DBZ games even though I can't stand DBZ same for a couple Naruto games and Castelvania: Judgement.

In other words, no, you don't necessarily have to like the overall theme or genre of a game in order to enjoy or want the game, you can just as easily want or enjoy the game purely because it looks/is fun, the one thing all games are intended for.

Along similar lines, I can't stand 2D fighters yet I fully enjoy Blazblue.

Anyway, as for your other point, I honestly fail to see what looks so bad about the gameplay footage we've been shown anyway. It was intended as an arcade-only game originally (or so I believe) so of course it will lack any sort of depth, arcade games exist purely to jump in and out of for a few minutes at a time. It's just plain ignorant to assume an arcade game will have any more depth than that.

So that's physically and/or mentally harming you and harming the sales of the franchise? Besides, that just proves your precious Warioland isn't as popular as Warioware for whatever reason. I highly doubt Pokemon will go down that route.

Oh and lastly, you've failed to realise just why everyone ganged up on Kirk in the first place, he was far too aggressive in his response and came across as an a-hole, honestly. After all, how would you feel if you stated your choice to get a new game that's not out yet only for someone to go "That's pretty sad. It's a sh****y game." to you?

@khaosklub "It also has pokemon characters, which would appeal to pokemon fans, so if it's one's first pokemon game, it's likely that that one is not a pokemon fan"

I still fail to see how that's an issue. A non-fan starting a franchise on a spin-off game harms no one and nothing as long as they don't then assume the entire franchise to be the same in terms of quality whether that be good or bad.

Re: Video: This Pokkén Tournament Commercial Should Provide a Timely Reminder of Wii U Release Hype

kamifox1

@khaosklub Well, I told a slight lie there, I also fully enjoyed Twilight Princess but I still don't class myself as a Zelda fan.

I've played some pretty enjoyable 3D fighters that work like the anime ones, main ones being Dead or Alive (very button-bashy and cinematic) and Bloody Roar (very lacking in balance and depth and also very cinematic). Also Namco's involved and we know their track record with 3D fighters so... Yeah... Can't really fault me for having hope.

Re: Video: This Pokkén Tournament Commercial Should Provide a Timely Reminder of Wii U Release Hype

kamifox1

@Kirk You can see issues from what's probably in-production footage shot purely for promotional purposes?

Also, so? The person has every right to do that, he's not hurting anyone or anything with that mentality, he's well within his rights to do that, if anything, he will be giving Game Freak/The Pokemon Company/Nintendo more money and attention so you should be grateful.

Just because YOU don't want the game doesn't give you any right to have a go at others who DO want it. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out where you went wrong here.

Oh and I find your mentalities of "It's not an RPG like the main series therefore it will be a bad game." and "You can't buy and enjoy a spin-off of a franchise without playing the main part of said franchise first." far more sad and pathetic than anything the rest of us have said, including the person you originally replied to.

Re: Video: This Pokkén Tournament Commercial Should Provide a Timely Reminder of Wii U Release Hype

kamifox1

@Kirk Not sure how you already know it's going to be bad when you have no more info about the game than the one you claim can't tell it's good yet. See the problem here?

Also, I'm not a Zelda fan or a Dynasty Warriors fan yet I got Hyrule Warriors without knowing how good it is and fully enjoyed it. Does that make me an equally bad person?

Pretty much all the Pokemon spin-offs as of yet have been really good, solid entries into the franchise (only exception off the top of my head is Pokemon Rumble U), just not the usual RPGs the franchise started life as so this game COULD be just as good as the other spin-offs or, as you so nicely said, it COULD be a really bad cash-in that's just a Tekken reskin, again, we simply don't know yet.

Personally, I see a person wanting to buy this game despite not being a fan of the main franchise it's based on as a good thing. It proves it's doing the job of bringing new fans in and broadening the franchises horizons.

I, myself, am really looking forward to this game at the moment since I am a Pokemon fan (have been since Red/Blue, first game of my own was Yellow version and I've played at least one game from each gen and spin-off series) and a 3D fighter fan, especially Tekken, so this combines two of my favourite franchises.

Re: GAME Processes Additional Charges on Super Mario Maker Pre-Orders

kamifox1

This is why I now only buy in-store from GAME and even then, only if I can't find something elsewhere, it has the best preorder bonus or I find it relatively cheap second hand. Otherwise, I either preorder/order from Amazon (who I've never had a problem with) or buy second hand when games become dirt cheap in places like CEX and the little indie shops the city I'm in has. Even the employees themselves recognise just how bad the online service is where I am. My friend mentioned a problem he had with it to an employee and he said "Oh, yeah, the site's awful." to us!

Re: McDonald's Happy Meal Boomerang Mario In UK Tabloid Scandal

kamifox1

Wait a minute... There were Mario toys in McDonalds recently? I was in Plymouth city center (I live in Plymouth, Devon, UK) almost every day the last few weeks, I even went in McDonalds a couple times for my lunch and only ever saw Minions toys... I was there just yesterday and today too...

Re: Video: Learn More About the Experimental Rayman 4 That Got Dropped in Favour of Raving Rabbids

kamifox1

This is just plain depressing... As a massive fan of the Rayman franchise, especially 1, 2 and 3, it's really upsetting to see what could've been an incredible sequel to those three platforming classics become a (quite frankly, awful) party game which wound up getting milked for all it was worth instead of being a one-off (or having one sequel, if they must) then going back to the original plan or something similar... At least we got Origins and Legends, I guess, even if Origins is also nothing like the amazing and innovative game we saw at E3 before it went multi-plat and lost its namesake (aside from it borrowing the original visual style) and innovation...

Re: Nintendo Is Planning Its Own Loot Crate-Style Subscription Service

kamifox1

@manu0 Actually, Nintendo's huge here, in the UK. It's just the retailers that think otherwise. I'm always seeing people with Nintendo merch and buying Nintendo games where they're available as well as hearing people talking about Nintendo and I get a lot of UK Streetpass hits for a city that's not overly popular.

Re: This Plate & Watch New Nintendo 3DS Cover Plate is Hard to Resist

kamifox1

@RegalSin You don't need to... That's the beauty of it being a faceplate. It's just there to make it look pretty, nothing more (well and you kinda need the bottom one to protect all the stuff like the battery and Micro SD card but hey).

Also poorly designed in your opinion, a lot of people happen to disagree...

Re: This Plate & Watch New Nintendo 3DS Cover Plate is Hard to Resist

kamifox1

@AVahne Yeah, it would be better if it was thinner. I'm also concerned about it getting wrecked because my Pokemon OR/AS faceplate which I bought the day after I got my New 3DS is literally covered in scratches even though I keep it in a slipcase with a velcro flap when I'm out and about and avoid lying it top down or putting anything on it any other times.

Re: This Plate & Watch New Nintendo 3DS Cover Plate is Hard to Resist

kamifox1

That is awesome! Watch it go out of stock instantly though. ;_;

Also it's not expensive at all if Google's accurate. It says it's just £15.53 which isn't much more than the normal price for faceplates. Remember, Yen is worth a lot less than the British Pound so when you see quadruple digits, don't just assume that means something's expensive.

Re: Video: Nintendo Begins Promotion Of Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer In Japan With Two New Commercials

kamifox1

@Kiyata_Hamasaki Actually, these "money-making gimmicks" are making them plenty money right now because they're collectables with some of the biggest faces in gaming on them which also happen to add content and replayability to a whole host of games. They're not JUST going out of stock so quickly because they're in low numbers, you know. If they weren't making Nintendo any money, they would still be gathering dust on store shelves instead of circulating sites like eBay and Amazon or sitting on collectors shelves and being used for their intended purpose, all of which involve, at some point, money going to Nintendo.

Re: Video: Nintendo Begins Promotion Of Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer In Japan With Two New Commercials

kamifox1

@Aromaiden Exactly, then there's the whole thing with gaming merchandise which also exists purely to milk money from consumers who see their favourite game characters and logos plastered onto items they could buy under any other name but won't. I'll admit I'm always falling for that tactic myself as I collect Pokemon plushes and Sonic figurines as well as anything else Sonic-related.

Re: Video: Nintendo Begins Promotion Of Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer In Japan With Two New Commercials

kamifox1

I wasn't sure about this when it was first announced but now I'm much more interested. I agree, it should've been DLC or free to play but considering the amount of content it no doubt has, I'm happy to shell out a few pounds.
My only concern is will we, in the UK, ever get the cards since almost every time a game has launched that uses cards in some shape or form, we either never got the cards or they were VERY hard to find (biggest examples being that iOS Tekken card game and Kid Icarus Uprising, I never saw the cards in stores!)?

Re: The Animal Crossing amiibo Range is Bigger Than We Thought

kamifox1

@Vineleaf Isabelle's kinda the main character in New Leaf so of course she's gonna get a ton of attention... Digby's one of the main NPCs in New Leaf of which all the Amiibos thus far appear to be so of course he would be among them...

Isabelle's also not an annoying character, she spends pretty much all her time behind a desk, performing her duties. She's a bit on the awkward side, sure, but she's basically the same, personality-wise, as most of the female villagers. I honestly fail to see what about her could make her appear to be annoying to anyone, she's just kinda there to do what she has to do.

Re: The Animal Crossing amiibo Range is Bigger Than We Thought

kamifox1

Good grief, Lottie's horrifying! O_O'

Also guys, calm down, they probably haven't revealed all of them yet! I'm sure Sabel, Labelle, Shrunk, Kapp'n, Gulliver, Resetti, the Nooklings, Shampoodle, Blathers, Celeste, Kyle and Kicks will all be announced in due time!

If so, I definitely want K.K., Kicks, Isabelle, Celeste and Cyrus ones, those are all my favourite NPCs.

Re: New Skylanders SuperChargers Trailer Plays Up Bowser and Donkey Kong as IP's First Ever Guest Stars

kamifox1

@3dsgeek333 He was never a guest though. No more so than any other playable character in the franchise. He was, in fact, originally supposed to be the lead character and the game was supposed to be a spin-off of the Spyro franchise but things change during development and yada yada yada. Yes, he probably did stay because he was a familiar face that would draw people in but that wasn't the original intention, far from it.

Besides which, how often do you see a guests name as a part of the full title of a game? I know I never do unless it's a little added on bit at the end like "& insert name here" or "Featuring insert name here".

Re: Veterans Of 3DS Title Xeodrifter Will Get The Upcoming Wii U Version For Free

kamifox1

How can he expect the sales to be as good here when he doesn't advertise it properly for us? How are we meant to know it even exists without proper advertising? Some of us only found out about it through NintendoLife or by looking at the eShop regularly, the rest didn't know it existed, probably, so how could they buy it?

Then, as someone else mentioned, there's the ridiculously long wait we had to endure. The longer we, the consumers, have to wait, the more likely we are to give up entirely or just go online and watch it or hack and emulate/illegally play it therefore less sales as more people go the purchase-free routes. It's not that hard to figure out...
