@UltimateOtaku91 I've seen a few folks reporting that we will be able to bring our collections over to the new client (as I imagine PTCGO will go away at some point).
@Controller-Drift If the process is similar to the brazilian store, a lot more games will start showing up! Nowadays it's extremely rare when a game I'm interested in is not available on the BR store (and most indies are a LOT cheaper too!)
@Heavyarms55 There are many nuances. A lot of electronics have imported components, but are partially or completely assembled in Brazil, or some segments might have specific laws do reduce taxations.
@dux Yep, that was a bummer! But at least the price raise just affected Paper Mario (and Pikmin 3 now). Older games are still with the old price tag, which is a good thing.
@Lugazz Not only that! But you can actually on launch day, walk to a store and purchase a copy there. This is just not possible here on Brazil (for Nintendo games). Luckily the eShop gets the games at a reasonable exchange rate and I can purchase that way.
More Nintendo presence here in Brazil is always a good thing. Unfortunately the current exchange rates for our local currency are terrible, so it will come at a very high price.
At least on the local eShop it is possible to get digital 1st party titles at a decent price.
Wondering if this decision is actually for other countries as well. The Brazilian eShop only sold game codes and is non-operational since the 28th. Same for other Latin American stores.
@rjejr It's also listed to PS4 and Xbox on the same site, so I'd imagine that if this is true, we would get major UI and control changes (pretty similar to what happened to Diablo III).
I hope they support touch controls for inventory management on the go!
I agree that this is generally a grey area. One thing that I don't like is the "free advertisement" argument, I think there's a key difference in that Nintendo (or any company in this spot) would control the messaging if this were an advertisement.
So I would call it "free exposure", as it can be either good or terrible for then, since they don't control (and shouldn't!) the content creator's vision. That's why I think they act like this when it comes down to youtubers and streamers.
@gcunit Usually in order to take advantage of a larger MTU, more network components between you and the server you're communicating need to support it. 1500 is considered to be a standard, so that's why it will show an improvement.
While increasing it to 3000 might not have any negative side effects, it is not likely to show better results.
@westman98 Yeah. To me the keyword here is "compromise".
Going hybrid was a bold move IMO. Every single aspect of the system needed to compromise in order for the switch to be accessible to customers and provide a good experience at the same time. And I believe this goes to everything: storage, battery, controllers, GPU, CPU, and so on.
Given that, of course I'd like a beefed up Switch in all aspects, but I am very happy with what I got now, I think Nintendo did a great job designing this system and can't wait to see what they (or competition) will do to improve it in the future.
Lots of good points in here. Now that I think about it, it was going to happen sooner or later (a game requiring a MicroSD). It comes with the territory when dealing with a portable device that can play home-console level of games.
Real issue is allowing developers to pass this issue on us, the customers. I understand this if this were an issue with the downloadable version being too big, but for the physical? A bad practice that has been allowed, what a shame.
@dkxcalibur Yep! I took that into consideration and agreed with you (more specifically to FIFA, but I believe that applies to pretty much any switch game).
I just tried to point out that I'm not "lying to myself" by being happy with the switch and so on.
@gatorboi352 Yeah, I can definitely agree with that. Maybe push a little harder and making parity easier would be doable at little extra cost.
It's just that to me, the hybrid factor out values the technical specs being inferior, so I'm a happy consumer in that regard. But had they offered a "Switch+" at a higher price point, I'd pick that up in a heartbeat!
But then again, all we can do is keep playing the games we love in the platforms of our choice and hope for the best. That's why I really hope that this FIFA game finds success on the Switch.
@dkxcalibur And on FIFA specifically, I agree with you. I believe many people are underestimating the appeal of being able to play a quality FIFA game anywhere (and with multiplayer on top of that).
@dkxcalibur Sure, I would love a super-powerful Nintendo console that could play everything, however, it's quite easy to understand that the Switch can't be this machine AND be portable as well. So it's a trade-off. (one that I'm willing to accept, I'd rather have the hybrid console I can use everywhere than a super-powerful one that's TV-only).
Personally, I believe they nailed the specs, found an acceptable middle-term between being portable and offering quality home-console games (tech-wise).
I understand the frustration of many here regarding this, but it's the Switch reality, and I hope that everyone finds a way to enjoy it
I feel like the custom engine is the way to go here. I'm sure they'll use it in the future to take advantage of Switch's capabilities for future FIFA games and other franchises if this year's entry is successful (which I believe it will be)
A quick search on the official PS Blog article and I didn't find the word "exclusive" in there. If that were the case, they would absolutely mention this on the post.
So I think there's still hope for a Switch announcement soon.
@Duffthemonkey If you are playing it digitally and using an SD card, you might want to test downloading the game to the console memory. I had a bad SD card which caused a lot of my games to constantly crash due to "corrupted data", transferred them to console storage, now no more issues.
@Yorumi You're just thinking of peer to peer after you know which peer to connect to. There's a lot that happens between the time you join a lobby and the best selection of peers for you to connect to is presented to you. And that doesn't happen by magic (and not via p2p as well, in case you believe that).
You have a fine definition of p2p, just not of the whole picture for online communications. Again, I apologize if I come up as rude, in case you're also from the software area and understand all this, maybe you're a lot more experienced than me, we never know. I'm just talking with experience on a lot of systems that take advantage of p2p.
@Yorumi I'm sorry. I really don't mean to start a fight or anything, but I disagree with you concept of "pure p2p"
I am an experienced developer in the communications area, a p2p infrastructure as you imagine is just not really possible, even if it was, it wouldn't be that efficient to be commercial on this scale. There's always something on the background facilitating p2p.
But anyway, I respect and understand your point, specially regarding 3rd party software, although I don't think it's that simple of a matter.
Personally, I'll pay for something that works great and that's what my experience with online Switch has been so far. I know that a good infrastructure at this scale is hard to do right and costs a lot of money, so I don't mind paying.
But hey, maybe I'm wrong about all this, hard to tell. But for now, I'll stick with what I know about the subject and have fun playing Splatoon 2
@Yorumi Even if it's p2p after the match is going on they still need servers for validations, matchmaking, etc. Basically to help you get going and validate your build of the game.
So it's not like they are charging us to turn our switch on, but it's not THAT much of a load that would completely justify charging for it.
But it is a industry standard whether we agree or not, and good infrastructure costs money, so I'm ok with the annual charges starting 2018
@bezerker99 Part of me wants to believe it's already in the works for early 2018. I think that the reaction to MH World skipping Nintendo platforms was loud enough to trigger some action on the XX port front.
@NEStalgia Great point on the co-dev stuff. We really need more games like Mario + Rabbids on the platform.
Feels like Nintendo has too much going on atm with stock issues, apps, 1st party games, snes mini. I hope we'll see more efforts like Mario + Rabbids get announced in the next 1-2 years though.
People focus way too much on the number, just don't bother with that pointless discussion. If you have the time, check out some video reviews, gameplays and so on, that should be enough for you to make a decision on this game
Being a company that always tries to set itself apart from the competition has its ups and downs, and in many ways, his points are valid, Nintendo does feel a little bit backwards or behind times with some of its practices, but at the same time, it offers a truly unique concept with the Switch.
But I do not approve of his choice of words, maybe there's something personal, maybe that's just how the guy is. There are many ways to message your lack of belief on Nintendo, but respect needs to be mutual if you expect to succeed in a business relationship.
@PlayedNSlayed I have completed the game 100%, took me around 12h to do it. In short, I really enjoyed it! At first controlling Noodle is kinda hard, but once you understand the mechanics it's really satisfying to collect everything.
The checkpoint system is a bit of a pain, so make sure to always come back to one after doing something hard and you'll be fine.
This is a great game, I'd recommend it to any platformer fan, specially on a sale!
@invictus4000 Meant it more as a addition to your point. I completely agree with you on the Switch being adventerous.
I just keep thinking so many cool features we could have on the system if Nintendo really wanted to double down on these features that are outside of the gaming scope.
@invictus4000 I agree on the hardware level. But there's also the point that MS/Sony usually embrace new "gaming tendencies" , such as supporting Twitch. streaming, voice/party chat and so on, while Nintendo most of the time acts as if this doesn't exist.
I REALLY love my Switch, I use it all the time, I've put more hours into my 3 months with the switch than I did last year altogether with PS4/Wii U. I love the concept, the games, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed with Nintendo on the way they handle OS, online and social features for their platforms.
The game looks good and controls well. I had a blast on the Global Testpunch and can't wait to start unlocking everything there's to unlock on this game

Re: Nintendo Switch Launches In Brazil With More Than 100 Games Available Day One
@Razer Unfortunately due to high demand the imported prices went WAY up so Nintendo actually is forcing stores to bring the price down a bit.
Re: Nintendo Switch Launches In Brazil With More Than 100 Games Available Day One
@Savino Agreed. And the fact that Series S is launching at a similar price point, will make the switch a harder sell as well.
At least the digital game prices in the BR store are cheaper than what we would spend on the US eshop, so that's a good thing
