I grabbed a Wii Fit Trainer, couldn't find a Marth though. I would hope Nintendo would do at least another round of stocks for these items since they were limited to begin with.
If it was true that these are discontinued that would be incredibly stupid on Nintendo's part. They've been around just a couple weeks with never an announcement on how limited they'd be. They'd miss out and piss off a lot of potential customers for a product they really want people to invest in. I'm sure several Ambiios will be a short term runs, but 2 week runs would be silly.
This can very well just be a rumor by ebay junkies to make people overpay for the toys.
@mentalmyles
If it was a quality thing it would of been settled long before release. Plus most of them have derpy faces and poor quality looks. High quality toys these are not.
Mario Marker went from a sure I'll get it, to a Hell yes, day 1 purchase. I'm sure I'll have a blast making levels and there will be no doubt thousands of amazing levels other users will be coming up with.
And the Metroid Maker will never be endorsed by Nintendo lol.
Jeez, saw the headline briefly when I clicked and saw this as "Attack of the Titans and Ultraman" lol. Oh well, glad to see more games coming to the eshops!
@rjejr Totally agree, I was a huge Reboot fan. Aside from Beast Wars, I really haven't been a fan of any CG toons that came. Sonic Boom, like you said, its pretty bland but not terrible. I was expecting a far worse, but its watchable without being vomit inducing. They put effort into the show and the short run time keeps it from being overly boring. Now the Wii U game was a complete mess and another rushed product.
The defective Villager is a bit fitting. I'd die if he had his feet backwards too so it looked like his head was completely turned around to his backside.
@nintendobro
lol....One advertisement means nothing in the grand scheme when you have to coax millions of users to believe that your system is worth $300 when you have a great deal of competition. You have to be able to reach out to different markets, get people excited for releases, educate them on the fact that the U isn't the same as the original, convey the depth of content, and explore ways to show that the U is a more viable option than PS4/One. An overly long compilation trailer that shows brief game segments doesn't accomplish that. A random online infographic that 95% of people won't see doesn't accomplish that. Saying....at least they are doing something is down right stupid. It is like having a 16 page term paper to do and only doing a cover sheet. Their marketing campaign is extremely limited and continuously does things half arsed. Real companies focus on a compilation of sectors such as retail based advertising, television advertising, online advertising, email, so their product is seen in a lot of different ways. As I said....mostly people who have a U or know what it has are the ones that are going to see or care about this. The scope is extremely limited. This is a billion dollar company that has millions upon millions of dollars at stake, and this is the best they could come up with? There is a reason why they've been killed in every region and their avoidant way of advertising is a huge one.
@Nintendobro
I think we'd all rather them waste their time on something useful. Unless they plaster the infographic at every retailer, stuff like this doesn't matter as it won't reach any audience they need to. If you are following Nintendo on twitter chances are you have a Wii U or know what it offers. Also overly long trailers do not act as movers or shakers too well.
If they want to make a proper advertisement campaign they need to learn from their competition. Blanket major channels with advertisements and not just on a kids station. Work deals with retailers for more floor space and advertising. Gamestop for example advertises the hell out of games because they have exclusive deals for dlc that goes with the title. Nintendo gives no encouragement to retailers and makes it hell to have any deals whatsoever.
@rjejr Sorry I totally misread your post. Very good point lol. All the Lego games drop in price to help their longevity. Lego City has been $50 for 2 years and I agree, I doubt many copies are moved at this point. They should of been discounting the price similar to how Wonderful 101 has been dropping to around the $20 mark. Nintendo once again is just too stubborn when it comes to their pricing.
@rjejr The Lego games actually sell very well around the holidays and the lifetime sales of the titles combined across consoles are very good. Its definitely not a game that is really worth picking up for $60, but they've shown to have longevity. Plus most games don't really go on sale sub >$14.99 much aside from clearance so the deals are where one would expect them to be.
@HypocrisyNews People are well aware of the BestBuy deal. It was garbage. Paying full price for the U/Smash to get DKC for free at a price that is nearly at a PS4 level blows. People are looking to pay less, not $60 more for stuff they can get cheaper in separate ways. Nintendo also is very responsible for poor deals. They can be one of the worst companies in order to work deals with as they are too rigid in how they operate. This leads to the burning of important bridges such as the one with Amazon. Microsoft was determined to have a big holiday so they discounted the console, they made new bundles, they worked with retails for floor space and coadvertising. Nintendo keeps thinking that their patience alone will pay off and people will flock over to them which clearly will not happen.
@jariw That line of thinking is why Nintendo is struggling and has seen PS4/One outsell it in a very small time frame. Some stores are still trying to find ways to dump the surplus of 8GB Wii U consoles and are not finding an easy job of it. The Deluxe model, even bundled with some good games, is also having trouble getting out the door. Lowering the price, doesn't devalue the hardware. Every system including the 3DS and original Wii lowered its pricing as time moves on in order to get units out there door. The longer Nintendo waits, the closer in price its competitors will get. The One was only $30 away and included 2 games in itself. By next year, the PS4 will be around that level, and we'll see the One bounce around that point as well. At that point Nintendo will be forced to reduce the price for damage control reasons just to get some return. Smash was the last big title the U will see for quite some time. By the end of Christmas, Nintendo will see the last push that Smash would give the U in sales. They won't have the software to really advertise to sway people over, so the only buzz they could have is if they discount the unit or release some really awesome special edition consoles to generate some buzz. Also of the software you listed....Wonderful 101 didn't sell well. Bayonetta has low overall sales. DKC was disappointing sales wise. Toad Tracker isn't going to be a big seller and has lower numbers in Japan. Starfox/Zelda have no time table and aren't guaranteed for next year. Kirby/Yoshi games aren't system sellers and Splatoon will need a big/intelligent marketing push to really make a difference since most people don't have a clue what it is.
@iceclimbers
I was using lack of TV commercials as an example as poor advertisement, but as you pointed out they have a lot deeper issues than that.
Right now for the Wii U there are way too many things going against it. It has the lowest value for online play which is huge in this generation of gaming. It has very little third party support. Nintendo itself has limited releases per year. It has the stigma of a "children's console" which they embrace rather than expand their image. It followed the very terrible unoriginal naming mechanic. It does very little to get noticed aside from Nintendo direct which target current users more than anything. So as you said people typically have 1 primary home console and a handheld one. 3DS is an easy choice for handheld with so many games and features available, but with the problems of the U and how Nintendo markets it....people just see more to get out of a One/PS4 than a U.
Then of course.....for these big holiday seasons they stay status quo rather than being aggressive with serious deals that make impulse buyers wallet's bleed. At this point, they've long lost this generations console war already. PS4 is running away, and One has already bypassed it in every market except Japan.
@StarDust4Ever I agree, I've commented before how Nintendo never advertises on main tv networks while Sony/Microsoft drown you in ads. The last ad I saw from Nintendo was a year ago when Mario 3D World was coming out. There is so much wrong with the company when it comes to the console market.
The real numbers won't look much better as Nintendo got out played by the competition. Retailers who are talking about Black Friday successes are all praising One sales and giving Sony some props. Nobody is really talking Nintendo. Ebay and Toysrus are the ones who apparently had good numbers, and not coincidentally they were the only ones who had real deals for the system. Nintendo's idea of selling the same bundles for the same price that has been available all year is just down right stupid. If they weren't selling before, they won't get noticed when their competition slashes their prices and adding in fresh game bundles or gift cards. Too many retailers had no deals at all for the system or games. Walmart included and ironically they are now offering a GC with the system when BF is over.
Nintendo though needs to learn to not play it safe. When you are the loser, you got to take risks if they ever want to get noticed. That includes working with Amazon to start selling Wii U consoles as that is a gigantic player in the retail market of which they have zero support. If it wasn't for the handheld market, Nintendo would of already been forced to bail from the hardware market altogether. It is the one thing keeping them afloat. I expect upcoming mediocre numbers for games like Toad Tracker which is doing poorly in Japan as well.
@JaxonH
With the $50 GC, you can use that on Smash, buy DKTP on else where for around $40 if the prospective buyer even would want it. You'd still come out ahead compared to the BB bundle which is quite lame (again only DKC is free). Hell Amazon had the XOne with 4 games for $320 lightning deal.
According to major retailers, One has been kicking butt so far in the BF sales. PS4 has had some mention of good sales. As expected nobody mentioned U, so the sales were probably low due to lack of deals which is bad news once again for Nintendo.
@ericwithcheese2 It was an online error that lasted until they sold out. A lot of people were able to get Sears to price match the online price in store, but now its over
For those wondering why people have so much beef with club Nintendo of America, its that we don't have much choice. There are a lot of people who like physical collectible items, but they've done away with much of that. We don't mind having the option to have digital game purchases, its a real nice feature, but they recycle the same games every month. This is about the 3rd time we've seen Vegas Stakes, Starship defense comes up every other damn month, Metroid 2/Kirby Pinball have been there multiple times as well. So most people already own the games, and consistently have the same titles thrown in front of their face with no alternatives in which to burn coins on.
With NA being arguably the biggest market for game related sales, it adds some salt to the wound that we get the least options at times. That goes double for the fact we don't get any collector's edition games from Nintendo over here.
Death and Return of Superman was really the only good Superman game. The original Batman Nes/GB/Genesis title was very good. The Adventures of Batman and Robin was good. Batman Vengeance and Rise on the GC were okay. The Arkham games are top notch. So yeah, its not really close.
The Best Buy deal is garbage. You are paying MSRP for both the console and Smash while getting DKC for free. The is stupidly high though as you can buy everything separately in normal deals for less. This deal will also not attract many buyers when you can get a freaking XOne with 2 games AND giftcards at most places for $30 less. You can get a PS4 with two games for almost the same price. People will be far more likely swayed to get the true current generation consoles for the better value.
During the course of the year retailers have been selling Wii U bundles with $30-$60 GCs and even discounting the system along with those GCs. I got my Zelda console for $269 with a $50 GC lol. Those are the kind of deals the U needed to really push out consoles for the holiday. The Meijer deal has it for $279 with a $30 GC but that store isn't one people usually go for games. Ebay has the Mario World bundle for $259, but once again it doesn't reach the soccer mom division who'll likely just grab a One/PS4. The Skylander Wii U has the best chance to getting spur of the moment purchases from the family oriented crowd, but those people tend to not know the U is different from the original Wii. For true gamers that deal also sucks because the 8GB harddrive gets used up in the blink of an eye. If you ever want to download something, you have to buy a real harddrive or grab some flash drives.
Great to see its doing well, but the fastest selling game on a system that doesn't sell games well isn't a great undertaking. Its already in the top 10 for best Wii U selling game ever. The big problem is....games that came out the same week on competing consoles have outsold Smash. Master Chief Collection has sold over twice as many copies in its first week than Smash. Assassin's Creed Unity has sold nearly double on BOTH the XOne/PS4. Advanced Warfare has outsold Smash on EVERY console (PS3/4/360/One). So in short...nice sales by Smash but competing consoles all have multiple titles being released that are lapping it already. You can't gain too much traction when you have one hit compared to multiple ones. With the PS4/One having actually good Black Friday deals as opposed to the junk pile offers for Nintendo, those system will continue to heavily outpace the U especially with far more successful franchise coming their way.
Bah, I have all the games listed except Wii Party U which holds zero interest for me. Hopefully some of the indie games or several more VC games are tossed up
A lot of terrible deals, especially for a Black Friday. System deals are trash compared to the ones that come normally. Very few relevant game discounts, and even the $15 GC for a couple select titles is beat by Best Buy for those who have GCU.
eshop cards are a good deal though the 20% off BB had last year and at the start of this year was better.
Very fun and entertaining game. The price on the eshop though, like usual, is overpriced. Steam and PSN have had it for $0.99 multiple times. When it comes on sale for $4 or less it'll be worth the pickup for those who haven't played or those who simply wish to revisit it.
LOL. People who participated in their event enjoyed themselves, and those who've commented after finding out the joke had a good laugh about it. Yet, those sitting behind a computer who watched a short video clip are raging and saying they'll never go to gamestop again and take personal offense to it? Wow, that is some serious pussification there. God forbid something relevant happens in your life.
If this was a true contest or some sort of scam, it would be different....but obviously it wasn't.
It was a joke that didn't hurt anyone and done in good fun. Why people are emo over a silly thing is beyond me. Also does good job giving additional marketing for the game with the viral effect.
ROFL.....Wii U is on a whole new level than the 3DS. Yes Reggie, you are right. Its 150 steps below where the 3DS is at. Then you go from talking about 3DS game sales....to the Wii U game metacritic scores lol?
As for Amazon they are using stuff like Amazon Fire to get their feet wet into the game/media world. That is why the question came up. They won't likely make any headways with it though and won't be a challenger anytime soon if ever. I'd rather see a question about why Nintendo continues to restrict the sale of Nintendo hardware sales with the biggest retailer in the nation which no doubt has cost a lot of sales.
I also like when he talks about new IPs and he has almost none to say and sadly one is just another branch off of the Mario series.
Well Sony preaching the Vita as the best handheld is as silly as Reggie preaching the same about Wii U. Okay...its much more silly. No matter how big Sony grows in the console gaming world, it does not have anywhere close to the staying power Nintendo has in the mobile/handheld world. If you are a fan of RPGs or lesser forms of PS exclusives the PSP/Vita are great systems. It just lacks the diversity and volume of titles that the GB/DS/3DS line have brought. Nintendo also has a strong sample of 1st party titles that work great for handheld gaming, and has a strong contingent of 3rd party developers putting out top tier stuff that Sony lacks.
Its a bit of a bizarro world. What Nintendo doesn't do on consoles....it does on its handhelds. What Sony does on its consoles....it doesn't really do on its handhelds.
For those saying the developers don't mind, the game has been out of print for a while. Most sales are coming from used and second hand stores. Virtually all retailers clearance it out a while ago so they are seeing little return unless they decide to capitalize off the hype and start reprinting.
@Light Nobody is arguing about the ability of choice and some who are complaining really enjoy their Wii U. The conversation is about the business aspects of Nintendo's operation and how its getting them hammered in the hardware market for consoles. If it wasn't for the continued success of their handheld lines, Nintendo would be forced out of the hardware market like Sega. They continue to struggle with adapting to a new generation of gamers and keep using the same strategy that doesn't work. Most here just want Nintendo to succeed, but Nintendo themselves seems to make it harder for themselves.
Good ole Reggie, keeps marketing the system to the people who don't buy it. He said the same thing last year when a pair of $400-$500 systems with no games ran laps around the Wii U.
PictureBook Games and Vegas Stakes for me. Two bonafide classics that really highlight the strengths of their respective systems. Anyone that doesn't have it is totally missing out.
What a crappy deal. You pay retail price and through in money for a crappy magnet and a T-Shirt. Complete rip off.
Just get GCU at Best Buy, and pay about $10 each for them. ToysRus will also be hosting a deal with Ambiios when they are released 3 for $30. Other deals will no doubt come to help push these out the doors. Save your money on the lootcrate crap.
@akaDv8R
XONE has more total sales worldwide than the U, but that is because ONE has next to no sales in Japan. One has already surpassed the U in every other region and continues to pick up steam in NA. They won't reach 15M, but they are beating the U in the places that matter NA/EU. Also keep in mind, the U has been out almost a year extra than the One/PS4, which makes the U sales even more appalling.

Re: Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Sells Nearly 500,000 Copies on Launch Weekend, Sets US Record
Re: Nintendo of America Announces Upcoming eShop 'Cyber Deals'
Bah, I have all the games listed except Wii Party U which holds zero interest for me. Hopefully some of the indie games or several more VC games are tossed up
Re: Guide: The Best Black Friday Nintendo Deals in the US
A lot of terrible deals, especially for a Black Friday. System deals are trash compared to the ones that come normally. Very few relevant game discounts, and even the $15 GC for a couple select titles is beat by Best Buy for those who have GCU.
eshop cards are a good deal though the 20% off BB had last year and at the start of this year was better.
Re: Atlus Confirms Etrian Odyssey X Mystery Dungeon and Reveals Etrian Odyssey V Teaser
Looking forward to both
Re: Review: Thomas Was Alone (Wii U eShop)
Very fun and entertaining game. The price on the eshop though, like usual, is overpriced. Steam and PSN have had it for $0.99 multiple times. When it comes on sale for $4 or less it'll be worth the pickup for those who haven't played or those who simply wish to revisit it.
Re: Video: GameStop Shows How It Faked 'Karissa the Destroyer' at Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Event
Re: Video: GameStop Shows How It Faked 'Karissa the Destroyer' at Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Event
It was a joke that didn't hurt anyone and done in good fun. Why people are emo over a silly thing is beyond me. Also does good job giving additional marketing for the game with the viral effect.
Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Emphasizes the Nintendo Difference and Considers Competitors Such as Steam and Amazon
Re: Toys "R" Us Buy One Get One 40% Off Deal Includes All Wii U and 3DS Games
If you have GCU at Best Buy then this deal is irrelevant.
Re: Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Thrown off its Perch by Call of Duty, Wii U Sales Spike Upwards
2000 units sold, XONE is coming alive!!!
Re: Review: Super Smash Bros. for Wii U (Wii U)
Meme run > Smash
Re: Sony: PS Vita Is Better Than 3DS And The Wii Brand Is A "Shadow Of Its Former Self"
Re: Wii U eShop Title Meme Run Seals Approval To Release This December
Best platform game ever. The eshop just gained real respect with this classic
Re: Cubic Ninja Sales Spike Following Announcement of 3DS Homebrew Requirement
For those saying the developers don't mind, the game has been out of print for a while. Most sales are coming from used and second hand stores. Virtually all retailers clearance it out a while ago so they are seeing little return unless they decide to capitalize off the hype and start reprinting.
Re: The Nintendo Wii U Is Better Value For Money Than Xbox One Or PS4, Says Reggie
@Light
Nobody is arguing about the ability of choice and some who are complaining really enjoy their Wii U.
Re: The Nintendo Wii U Is Better Value For Money Than Xbox One Or PS4, Says Reggie
Good ole Reggie, keeps marketing the system to the people who don't buy it. He said the same thing last year when a pair of $400-$500 systems with no games ran laps around the Wii U.
Re: The November Club Nintendo Rewards Are Now Up For Grabs
PictureBook Games and Vegas Stakes for me. Two bonafide classics that really highlight the strengths of their respective systems. Anyone that doesn't have it is totally missing out.
Re: Weirdness: Now You Can Play Super Smash on a TI-83/84 Calculator
Better than the real thing.
Re: Loot Crate amiibo Details and Pricing are Confirmed
What a crappy deal. You pay retail price and through in money for a crappy magnet and a T-Shirt. Complete rip off.
Just get GCU at Best Buy, and pay about $10 each for them. ToysRus will also be hosting a deal with Ambiios when they are released 3 for $30. Other deals will no doubt come to help push these out the doors. Save your money on the lootcrate crap.
Re: Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS Claims Second in NPD Charts
@akaDv8R
