So I've only seen a few people mention this in the comments and quite a lot of speculation as to WHY Nintendo would drop integration for Twitter.
Twitter hiked the price of it's API (the API is kind of like the middle man that lets the Switch etc., access Twitter's information so that it can post directly from the console without logging into a separate Twitter app) last year, which has meant companies like Sony and Microsoft have been dropping integration with Twitter because it just costs too much money to make any business sense, especially when people are using Twitter less than ever. Nintendo was the last of the big console makers to drop integration, so this isn't really unexpected after their rivals did the same thing last year.
This has been terrible for smaller and independent software developers/researchers that used Twitter's API to form part of their app/research. Musk's reasoning for this is that he believes the API is being abused by bots and scammers, and the increased price will deter them, however most companies have been put off by the price increase at a time when Twitter is losing users at a more rapid pace than the other main social media apps.
I think they will probably do another game, my biggest concern is that if the first game doesn't sell enough English copies they might decide not to localise the sequel.
I'm purposely keeping away from the manga and anime so the story is fresh when I get the game, so I'm banking on a sequel!!
@Tyranexx I was in the exact same position as you a few weeks ago. Don't like roguelikes/lites/whatever the heck the genre is called, never played one for more than a few hours. Hades on the other hand is truly excellent, as well as being very well written and full of interesting characters (with a ridiculous amount of voiced dialogue in the game), the gameplay is rewarding even when you've just died and there's a ton of variety between the weapon/boon combinations to make each run feel different. I've gone way past the end credits now and I'm amazed at how much extra story is packed into this game.
@Bustacap Fair examples, but all of those could have been in development and cancelled. Nintendo is infamous for being secretive and almost every gaming website in the world has taken a gamble when reporting information on them before, even the biggest websites have messed up, and this is something that has been going on since gaming journalism first existed, it's an industry that is reliant on rumours and secrets whether we like it or not, and gaming websites that only reported on news directly from publishers would probably be incredibly boring.
You could maybe make the argument that Nintendo Life might be a bit gung ho when it comes to reporting rumours, but they never report them as fact, so I don't really see what the harm is? If someone reads something clearly marked as a rumour then gets disappointed when it doesn't come true, then I don't think the onus is on the writer if they are clear that the information they've received isn't from a press release and might not actually come to be.
I think a lot of people in the comments section are making the assumption that a source could be anyone if they just sent Nintendo Life an email saying "oh this game is coming out, don't reveal my name" with some doctored screenshots and NL would happily report them. This isn't how journalism works!
Just as an example, the source could work for Konami and it turns out that one of Konami's games are coming to the NSO service. This source could reach out to Nintendo Life and give them this information, Nintendo Life would have reason to believe them because they know they work at Konami and have given them credible information before. In exchange for the information, Nintendo Life report it under anonymity to protect this person's job and keep their source in case any more information comes out. This is a simplified version of how this could work, and is from my limited understanding of games journalism.
Also, I think whilst it is fair to call on the Switch Pro rumours as false, this wasn't something solely reported by Nintendo Life, it was wide spread and on every major gaming website including Kotaku, IGN and even Bloomberg. Personally I think Nintendo realised launching a Switch Pro would be impossible now because they wouldn't be able to supply enough with the infamous chip shortage and covid knock on effects, so they went for plan B to appease investors somewhat.
@wanghosom it definitely would have been nice if the game recognised you were playing with a CPU partner so they could apply all of the changes to multiplayer you suggested. Roar is an invaluable skill if you are playing in this mode so you can avoid all unnecessary monster battles.
I wasn't 100% sure on this game, I assumed there would be no new Pokémon to collect so I was thinking it would be safe for me to skip it as I have played too much Pokémon in the last few years and wanted a break, but the new trailer made it look pretty darn cool and I already have every other Pokémon and regional variant sitting in Pokémon Home so obviously I need to complete the collection.
Wow this game is looking awesome, loving the art direction. I really enjoy the SMT series and would have been happy with a game that wasn't half as good to look at, but this game is really shaping up into something special. I really hope this game elevates the SMT brand, because it deserves to stand side by side with Persona.
Between this, Neo: TWEWY and Monster Hunter Stories 2, JRPG fans are certainly spoiled for choice for Switch sequels in 2021.
@SwitchForce I've actually finished the main game now, playing the post game at the moment. The game is actually quite big, I've just not had very much to do this last week or so...
@SwitchForce to do the co op segments solo, go to local play and then start the mission from the menu without a partner and you will be joined by the CPU. Be warned, the Palamute eggs are not common, you may have to wait until post game to get more Palamute tickets, so I'd suggest saving the game before doing the den so you don't waste your tickets. In the post game there are extra elemental versions of Palamute to hatch in another co op den that unlocks.
@mjsztainbok that's actually pretty cool that you can use the QR codes in that way. I've considered getting an Instax as I fancy an instant printer, sounds like a cool device.
@Xiovanni so this isn't actually a new device, though the marketing would make you think so. From what I gather this is an existing smartphone printer, it just now comes with a Pikachu shell and the app has been updated with Nintendo themed frames and stickers. I imagine it probably wasn't considered worth the effort to develop a Switch app for the device seeing as it isn't specifically designed for the Switch.
I was on the fence about this game. I loved Tomodachi Life, but felt it didn't really have much to do in it. I almost got Miitopia on 3DS but skipped it.
Played through the demo on Switch, and holy crap this game is my jam, silly enough to keep me entertained and enough stuff to keep me playing. 100% getting this.
@VoidofLight which is absolutely fair, as the game has modernised it's definitely lost some of the aspects of the previous games that I have enjoyed, and I definitely feel some areas need fleshing out like villager interactions and festivals could do with some reinvigorating because there is a lot that is quite samey. I'm definitely hopeful that a lot of this will be added back over time.
@Mountain_Man yeah exactly right. I think a lot of people who just wanted the same but more are disappointed because actually New Horizons is more of an open ended island designer, whereas you could barely place anything outside in NL and the game was more about interacting with your villagers and trying to meet requirements to unlock new upgrades. If you're goal orientated, then I can definitely see how the difference between the two could be frustrating, but even after hundreds of hours spread over several years I found New Leaf to be fairly limited in what it would let me do, whereas in the space of a year I've already played 1200+ hours of NH and don't see myself slowing down anytime soon.
@DTfeartheBEARD couldn't comment on the Dualsense as I don't have a ps5, but Gyro works great with the dualshock 4. I also read the same as you but was pleasantly surprised when it worked straight out of the box.
Love their Bluetooth adapter. Being able to use my PS4 controller on my Switch is great for playing on the TV, the gyro/motion controls handle a lot better on the dualshock 4 compared to the joy con, the sticks are obviously superior and far more accurate and the d-pad is actually usable. In handheld I use a Hori split pad pro and only switch to joy cons if vibrate/motion is necessary.
I've been very interested in buying a controller from 8bitdo, but they always seem to be missing a feature or two that I want. This one might be worth considering though.
We all want BOTW2 news, and if it comes today then that's just swell! Just keep your expectations in check to avoid disappointment!
If you assume that the only things announced at the Direct are going to be a Pikmin 3DS Port, some obscure GameCube game remaster, an RPG with a terrifyingly long title that has no fan base outside of Japan, an Animal Crossing update and a Smash announcement, then you can't be disappointed.
Great news! I think I will wait until the third update hits to do a replay, this game is amazing but it's also a bit gut wrenching at times so I need some more time to get over the emotional drain of my first play through. Looking forward to it though.
@nessisonett I didn't mean SMT as we already have some of that on the way, but really looking forward to playing those games when they eventually arrived. I've only played SMT IV but I really enjoyed it so looking forward to more!
Exciting! I've got this game pre-ordered for Switch, I have P5 on PS4 (which I loved), and recently completed Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, so I'm really looking forward to playing this game. Now we just need some of the main series games on Switch please!
Graphics seem ok for a Switch game, jagged edges etc., but nothing awful. Gameplay seemed a bit on the slow side though, I can imagine young kids having fun with it, but I don't think it would be for me. I think the movement speed needs to be increased a little. The cut scenes and intro video all very pretty, presentation generally is quite good, but definitely feels like it's a game aimed towards children, so will be passing on this.
Turkey Day for me was an obvious winner because it felt more involved than a lot of the others but still had a challenge. Toy Day was my second choice, whilst it wasn't the most demanding festival, I loved the rewards and my villagers reactions to receiving gifts.
I've always been tempted by the musou genre, but resisted for one reason or another. As soon as I knew it was related to BOTW, it was a no brainer for me, and I really enjoyed the demo (having read extensively about musou games, the issues from the demo weren't shocking to me). My other half has bought it for me for Xmas, so will no doubt spend most of January putting in the hours. Hopefully I enjoy it because I also want to get the Persona 5 musou spin off when that comes out.
Just some general Wishing Star tips for people who may be struggling. I've managed to collect a ton so far, and here is how I did it. Note that this is all just from my experience with the game, so some stuff may just be down to coincidence or luck.
1. Celeste DOES NOT have to appear for Shooting Stars to appear, however it does seem to be the case that if Celeste is on your island, you will see Shooting Stars.
2. Shooting Stars only appear in clear skies. If it's cloudy out, you won't find them.
3. Listen for the "twinkle" sound. If you've already caught one you likely know what this sounds like, but this is definitely the biggest giveaway that there are Shooting Stars about. Sometimes you may see them depending on how much of the sky you are viewing, but otherwise the sound effect is your best bet. The sound effect is actually quite subtle, if your volume is down low you may not hear it. I usually hear it best when played on my TV. It can also be very easily masked by other sound effects such as chopping wood, fishing etc.
4. Shooting Stars come in clusters, so if you see one, expect a few more to follow within the next few minutes.
5. Star Fragments don't necessarily all turn up on the beach at the same time. Keep checking throughout the day. If you only have a few when you start up, make sure to check again a few hours later.
6. You can make wishes on other people's islands, and the Star Fragments will wash up on your shore. So if you have friends who play New Horizons, make sure you keep each other informed. Likewise, recipes can be obtained from Celeste if she is on your friends island. Can confirm Celeste gave me the magic wand recipe on my friends island, not sure if she will give further recipes after that however as this was my first meeting with her.
7. There are more recipes to collect than just the magic wand and the star sign furniture. Last night Celeste gave me the recipe for "Starry-sky wall" (3 Normal Fragments, 1 large).
8. Sometimes the frequency of shooting stars seems to heavily vary and I'm not sure what exactly triggers this. I've managed to wish on 12 in the space of 10 minutes before, whereas last night I had a batch of 6 and then didn't see any more for over an hour. Can confirm as didn't do ANYTHING else other than look up at the sky in game waiting for stars. Maybe frequency depends on time of day as I started at around 9pm. When I checked back in on the game later I had a larger cluster of 7 almost immediately (around 11pm).
9. As pointed out elsewhere in the comments, there appears to be a cap of about 20 Fragments collectable throughout the day.

@Elira thanks for your recommendation, I might watch it before the game comes out then. I will definitely watch it at some point!
Re: Upcoming Dragon Quest Game Scores Physical Switch Release With English Language Support
@Elira The director of the game has already hinted he would like to do a sequel if the game makes enough money:
