Re: Preview: Mario Golf: World Tour

bizcuthammer

Very disappointed in the lack of download play. My house doesnt have the money to dish out on three copies of the same game like that. Also my brother would definitely play this game on download play, but doesnt like the series enough to buy the full game and play on his own. I just dont get why they didnt include it as an option.

Re: Feature: Bandai Namco Characters We'd Love to See in Super Smash Bros. on Wii U and 3DS

bizcuthammer

If they're going to use a non-Nintendo character, my belief is that said character has to have at least been in a good, non-ported game on a Nintendo console. Pac-Man and Lloyd fit that list, but characters like Dampierre don't, and therefore don't belong in Smash Bros anymore than Master Chief or Sackboy would.

I dont want any of those characters to be honest. Sonic and Mega Man are enough 3rd party, and at least those characters have meaningful history in gaming and on Nintendo consoles. Only Pac-Man does as a Namco character, so if they have to include a Namco character, it should be Pac-Man.

But there are so many better Nintendo characters (and other 3rd party characters to be honest) that i'd much rather see in the game than Pac-Man.

Re: Review: Yoshi's New Island (3DS)

bizcuthammer

I've been skeptical of this game since it was announced, so i cant say i'm surprised. The original game was great, but it was the type of game that you will never reproduce in terms of originality and success. The art style was cool back then, but it has lost that factor now. The gameplay of the series is exactly the same as it was back then with nothing new or interesting added. In short, i think Nintendo used up any cool, innovative ideas they could think of for a Yoshi game in the original. If there's nothing meaningful or creative to add to a series for a sequel, then a sequel just doesnt need to be made. (I'm looking at you, NSMB, CoD and Assassin's Creed).

Re: Month of Yoshi: The Brightly Coloured History of Yoshi

bizcuthammer

@Lance168 Unlike now, when Nintendo basically quits making games for a systems several months before its successor is released, they used to keep making games for previous generations of hardware for several years after the 'next gen' console was released. This was prior to the Gamecube. Nowadays, Nintendo can barely even be bothered to release a new game for a console a year BEFORE its successor comes out. I'm looking at you, Wii.

Re: Valve's Gabe Newell Thinks Super Mario 64 Is Just Swell

bizcuthammer

I've never been wowed by a video game as much as i was when i played Super Mario 64 back in 1996. I was 8 years old, and it was the first true 3D game i'd ever played. I loved exploring the levels and Peach's castle for hidden secrets. I loved using the wing cap to fly around levels. While i think there are better games overall now, nothing since has wowed me like that.

Re: Nicalis Boss Tyrone Rodriguez Thinks The Wii U GamePad Is "A Waste Of Time And Resources"

bizcuthammer

I 100% agree. It seems to me like Nintendo themselves don't even care to use the Gamepad. Since theres only a couple games that use it in a unique way. Heck, DKCTF just shuts it off as you play. The Gamepad has potential, but that doesnt matter if no one, not even Ninty, is using it. At least they actually made use of the Wii's gimmicky controller. The Gamepad, outside of a couple games, is completely unecessary.

Re: Latest PS4 Sales Figures Take it Past Wii U Life-to-Date Q3 Total

bizcuthammer

@withoutdk true, but PS4 has quality software from both 1st and 3rd parties that WiiU will never get. Unfortunately. Stuff like Destiny, Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts 3, Star Wars games, Uncharted, Infamous, Sly Cooper, Elder Scrolls, etc will not be on WiiU. Its unfortunate that WiiU is mostly a Ninty+Indie box, but thats where we are.

For people like me, who can only afford one console most generations now, it really blows that WiiU has no third party support outside of Sonic games and the occasional, missing-major-features port. I can't afford to spend money on two consoles and a handheld and buy games for all of them. So because Nintendo makes consoles the way they do, i have to make the annoying choice of Nintendo or everything else. Do i love Nintendo games more? Yes. Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, Metroid, Pikmin, etc are my favorite franchises, and i'd rather play them than anything else. It just sucks that i even have to make that choice. It'd be really nice if one day, Nintendo made a console that 3rd parties wanted to develop for again. That way i wouldnt feel like i'm missing out on so many games.

Re: Dedicated Video Game Platforms To Remain Nintendo's Core Focus, Says Iwata

bizcuthammer

A huge part of me wants Nintendo to always be making consoles. But there is a huge problem they are facing, and I don't think they can overcome it this time, at least not with the current management structure.

That problem is perception. In the home console market, Nintendo created an image of itself during the Wii years that they are more interested in casual, gimmicky gaming experiences like Wii Fit than in 'core' gaming experiences. Many people bought a Wii, yes, but most 'core' gamers came to see it as an irrelevant joke, as compared to its rivals, it had a small, albeit very good, library of titles worth owning. Thus the perception of Nintendo became 'gimmicky, irrelevant, underpowered, casual and kiddy.' None of those are good in the eyes of what should be Nintendo's main demographic: Core Gamers. With Wii's fluke success that will never be repeated due to the casual gaming market flocking to the tablet/smartphone business, Nintendo severely damaged its brand name in the eyes of many gamers. With WiiU, once again underpowered with a lack of third party support compared to its rivals, Nintendo has only further crushed its reputation in the home console arena. There is a reason that many game developers laugh when asked if their new game is hitting WiiU. Because Nintendo is a joke now in the minds of its demographic, the demographic they should always have been focused on, but the one they mostly ignored during the Wii years. Now the favor is being returned, and gamers are ignoring Nintendo.

Nintendo has an image problem, and I don't see them recovering under their current leadership. I think Iwata desperately wants to get the casual market back, which is highly unlikely to happen because Nintendo is not going to topple Apple. And even if they manage to capture some of that market, casuals are so finnicky and unloyal to brand name that they could leave at any time, which is exactly what happened to Nintendo when Wii was replaced with WiiU.

The biggest issue is that even if Nintendo were to truly create a new console with up to date hardware that appealed to 3rd party developers and the core gaming market, no one would care anymore. Because the brand name is damaged. Gamers today will buy a new Xbox or Playstation instead, because their brand names have value in the industry. Nintendo's only value in the minds of gamers today is nostalgic. Its unfortunate, but true.

I would rather see Nintendo go third party than continue to make unsuccessful console one after another for 15 years. Which is what it sounds like they plan to do as long as the current leadership model is in place.

Re: Video: What Could Super Mario Galaxy Look Like In HD?

bizcuthammer

Thats nice, but i dont want Ninty to do what Sony is doing right now on Vita and pretend like rereleasing old games with HD graphics is the same as making a new game. I wouldnt mind a really old game, like from the 64 era, getting that treatment, but GCN and Wii titles dont look that bad, and just need to be put on VC instead. An HD upgrade for Mario 64 would be great, as that game is very old and not in stores anymore. But Wii games dont need it. They already look fine, and are easily playable on WiiU.

The only Wii game i'd care to see in HD is Xenoblade, but thats only really because i want it to be rereleased so that Gamestop cant charge $90 anymore.

Wind Waker HD is a great game and all, but it did next to nothing outside of a quicker boat and slightly better graphics than the GCN version. I'd have much rather them not made it at all and just put all that time into the next Zelda on WiiU. Wind Waker was already one of the most beautiful games ever made, and didnt need the upgrade at all. It should have just been released on VC like all GCN games should.

If they want to rerelease games in HD, fine, but they need to do more than just make the graphics better. New levels, secrets, unlockables, and game modes. Something that would actually make people that already own the original version want to buy the same game another time. Graphics arent enough to justify a $50-60 purchase. I'd rather them make a brand new Mario, Zelda or Metroid than simply rerelease an old one that is the exact same game i already paid for a few years ago, but a little shinier.

Re: Retro Studios Talks Up Wii U And Has Been Working On A New Title Since November

bizcuthammer

I don't care what they make. Every game they've ever made has been awesome, so make whatever you want, Retro. Metroid, another DKC, Star Fox, Zelda, Mario Paint, StarTropics, Ice Climber... I don't care. Just make it and release it before 2017, please.

On the topic of WiiU being a 'powerhouse,' keep in mind that before DKCTF, Retro never made an HD game. Its not like they're a 3rd party thats been making 360/PS3/PS4/XBO games for a while. WiiU is incredibly powerful compared to Wii/GCN, which is all Retro has experience with. WiiU pales in comparison to its current competition though. Not saying WiiU isnt good in terms of hardware, as i think it is more than capable of making great-looking games, but as far as being on an even playing field with PS4 or XBO? Not quite.

My argument is that it doesn't really need to be, as Nintendo has proved WiiU can host some beautiful games if the hardware is used properly, and graphics and RAM arent everything. But calling WiiU a powerhouse when it is factually the weakest console of the current generation (yes we can quit calling it next gen now... Its here already) is a bit of a stretch.

But its relative. It is, by far, a powerhouse compared to what Retro has previously had to work with.

Re: Month Of Kong: Whatever Happened To Donkey Kong Racing?

bizcuthammer

@IxnayontheCK No they aren't. Rare, unlike Retro, was allowed to create its own IPs alongside using some of Nintendo's. Yes, Rare made great Nintendo games like Donkey Kong Country, Star Fox Adventures and Diddy Kong Racing, but it also had fantastic stuff that it came up with on its own like Banjo-Kazooie, Perfect Dark, Conker's Bad Fur Day and Killer Instinct. Retro has nothing like that, as Nintendo for some reason only lets them use existing IPs. Don't get me wrong, Retro's games are great and I love them, but they are not Rare.

Also, Rare came out with one or two games every year. Retro takes 3 years to make one game. I know game development is different now that it was back in 1996, but still. One game every three years is nothing compared to Rare's production.

Re: Wii U Lifetime Sales in Japan Overtake the Xbox 360

bizcuthammer

Honestly, this shouldve happened months ago. When i lived in Japan, most people didnt have a clue what an Xbox 360 even was. Most people over there play handhelds, obviously, and so most people i knew at the time had either a DS or PSP. The 3DS came out while i was there, but it didnt really take off until shortly after i had left.

But yeah, 360 in Japan was a joke. I never even saw them in stores.

Re: Console Wars Book Paves The Way For Movie Written By Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg

bizcuthammer

In the 90s, i had both an SNES and a Genesis, and i hated it when people would fight about which was better. I loved both, and still do, though i will admit that the SNES did have the better game library. I watched both the Super Mario Super Show and Sonic SatAM. I had a subscription to both Nintendo Power and the Sonic the Hedgehog Archie comics. Having both systems was great because i got to play fantastic exclusives on both consoles like Super Metroid, Chrono Trigger and Mario World on SNES and Sonic 3, ToeJam & Earl and Ristar on GEN. It was pretty much the golden years of gaming for me, and while i admit that may be nostalgia-fueled, no other decade of gaming has come close to the level of awesome i experienced with SNES, GBC, GEN, N64 and PS1 in the 90s.

Re: Less Than 5% of Those Polled by the Game Developers Conference Have Wii U Plans

bizcuthammer

To be fair this is just a poll for NA devs. If Japanese devs were asked, the 3DS percentage would be much higher. WiiU probably not so much. I'm surprised it was as high as it is... Must be mostly indie devs answering yes to that one. Third parties with AAA games wont touch WiiU with a thirty foot stick. It's where their preciously invested budget dollars go to die, so why even mess with it? Even the greatest WiiU ports like Need for Speed Most Wanted and Deus Ex have sold dismally. Unless you're making a platformer or kart racer, its statistically proven that WiiU owners wont buy your game. And i dont want to hear the 'they leave key features like DLC and online modes out' complaints. Thats not the case in NFS:MW and a handful of others that still sold terribly on WiiU.

The truth is, most WiiU owners bought a WiiU for Nintendo games and games that are like Nintendo games (Sonic, Rayman). They are mostly a minority within gaming culture, as most gamers prefer third party games like CoD, Assassin's Creed and Bioshock over first party stuff. Even on PS3/360 the best selling games arent Sony and MS first party stuff. Uncharted and Gears of War sell a fraction of the amount GTA V, CoD Ghosts and Minecraft do. Only on Nintendo systems are the best sellers always first party games. 3rd parties have noticed this, and are going to follow the cash stream. WiiU/3DS offer significant risk with very little chance of reward.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Direct Pointed to Another Wii U Retail Drought

bizcuthammer

Anyone other than me notice that Nintendo has this awful pattern of saying 'this is what went wrong, and we wont let it happen again,' yet they end up letting it happen again. The Reggie quote above is a perfect example of the lies they've been spitting out the last few years about learning from mistakes.

They didnt learn from the 3DS launch because they made the same/more mistakes with WiiU. They didnt learn from the WiiU's terrible 2013, cause it looks like 2014 could be worse. Yet Reggie sits up and says the games are gonna come at a quicker pace? Really? 2 games in 6 months is worse than it was last year. Absolutely unacceptable.

Re: Feature: What We Want to See in SNES Remix

bizcuthammer

What i'd really love to see is an N64 Remix. Doubt it'll ever happen cause it'd require more than a week to make, which means it wouldnt be a quick cash in like the NES ones, but i can dream. Its about as likely as Nintendo putting Gamecube games on VC.

Re: Feature: The Big Nintendo Direct Summary - 13th February

bizcuthammer

The Direct was great of you werent expecting a huge surprise. I loved the eshop announcements and footage of upcoming stuff like MH4, X and MK8.

My biggest complaint is MK8's release date. May 30?! That means there will only be two meaningful Wii U games in the first 6 months of 2014, which is just as awful for the console as 2013's first half. As someone who is currently looking to justify my decision to own a WiiU over a PS4, this isnt helping much. In fact, were it not for Smash Bros and X and the eventual Zelda WiiU game, i'd probably be trading it in by now.

The 3DS, on the other hand, keeps impressing. The eshop games coming look great and affordable, and stuff like Smash Bros, Mario Golf and Kirby TD look like a lot of fun. 3DS is my favorite gaming machine i've owned since the Gamecube/PS2 days.

Re: NES Remix 2 Will Bring Even More 8-Bit Favourites To Your Wii U

bizcuthammer

The games in this one plus Super Luigi Bros makes it worth $15. Unlike the original, which had garbage like Pinball and whatnot. This one has Super Mario Bros 3, Kid Icarus, Zelda II, both versions of Mario 2, Punch-Out!!, Kirby's Adventure, Dr. Mario and Metroid.

Outside of Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong and Legend of Zelda, the previous game was not very enticing. I'd have bought it for $8, but not $15.

Re: Talking Point: What We Expect In Nintendo Direct - 13th February

bizcuthammer

I want release dates/window for Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Kirby: Triple Deluxe, Mario Golf: World Tour and Smash Bros.

Also new footage and an official title for X would be nice. And the reappearance of Yarn Yoshi would be okay too.

I know they'll probably show a new Smash Bros character or two, hopefully one newcomer and a returning veteran.

Other than that, who knows... I'd personally like to see a surprise announcement of a 3DS Metroid sequel to Fusion. It's been too long since Other M, and Retro takes 3 years to make games, so we wont see Prime 4 until 2016 or 2017. Also would love to see what Monolith is cooking on 3DS.

Maybe some surprise 3rd party and indie announcements.

Re: Wii U and 3DS Nintendo Direct Confirmed for 13th February

bizcuthammer

Everyone is saying they dont expect surprise new announcements because Ninty will wait for E3. While I don't want to get hopes up, as Nintendo is incredibly unpredictable, last year's February 14 Nintendo Direct was awesome. Ninty announced the 'year of Luigi' and revealed New Super Luigi U, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, and Mario Golf: World Tour. They also gave new info on games like Luigi's Mansion 2 and Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Not bad for a February Direct. Just because it isnt E3 doesnt mean they wont announce anything. Heck, the best game they announced last year in my opinion was Link Between Worlds, which was announced in an April Direct.

Keep expectations reasonable, of course. We've had great Directs and we've seen some that were pretty disappointing. I just wanted to point out that it doesnt have to be E3 time for big reveals with Ninty.

Re: Talking Point: The Watch_Dogs Wii U Delay Demonstrates That Major Third-Parties Are Walking Away

bizcuthammer

The Wii doomed the WiiU. Wii attracted an audience of millions who couldnt actually care less about gaming, but were just there for Wii Sports and Wii Fit and Just Dance. Now that audience is gone, Nintendo. THEY ARE NOT COMING BACK. They have iPads and iPhones now, where they can get their dinky, casual gaming experiences for free to play, or under $5. They don't want to buy $300 game consoles anymore because they don't have to. The Wii gave Nintendo a false sense of success and they confused the casual market with the gamer market. Wii's fluke success justified their 'do something unique, strange and underpowered' approach because it made them lots of $. Unfortunately, when it came time to make a new console, Iwata and Miyamoto failed to recognize market trends, and used a similar strategy. But the casuals were gone, and Nintendo's real audience (gamers) had been alienated by Wii's lack of AAA 3rd party games in favor of shovelware and fitness accessories. When Nintendo even used the Wii name brand for its new machine, WiiU, all gamers were doing were collectively rolling their eyes. And it seems they were right to. Nintendo created another Wii. An underpowered system with a gimmicky interface and outdates online features that 3rd parties don't want to make games for. Only this time, the casual market isn't there to buy Wii Fit U. They're too busy having fun with Flappy Bird and Candy Crush Saga and Minecraft and Words with Friends. All Nintendo has left are people like us. Their hardcore fans. But that isn't nearly enough to keep WiiU from being deemed a failure.

Re: Just 2% of Ubisoft's Q3 Sales Were for Wii U

bizcuthammer

Not my fault Ubi isnt making money on WiiU. At my house we've got ZombiU, Assassin's Creed III, Rayman Legends and Assassin's Creed IV on WiiU, and i'm planning to get Watch Dogs too. I knew the numbers were bad though because people (most anyway) own two systems these days, and if they do own a Ninty console, its just to play the Ninty exclusives, and they get 3rd party games on their other consoles.

I'd love to buy 3rd party games like Tomb Raider Definitive Version, Destiny, Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts 3, and Star Wars Battlefront 3 on my WiiU. But Nintendo once again put their personal preferences ahead of 3rd party devs and gamers, and made a console that once again will be mostly Nintendo only.

Luckily i have a nice gaming laptop that can handle most of whats coming out, but some of those games are console-only like KH3 and FFXV. I cant afford to buy a PS4 right now, so until there's a decent price drop, looks like i'll be scrounging Steam sales for my 3rd party game fixation.

Re: Talking Point: Sonic and the Wii U Both Seek a Boom in Sales

bizcuthammer

I really hope this game plays more like an old Naughty Dog game (Jak & Daxter like) than a Sonic game. The style of Sonic games Sega wants (where its about running really, really fast while dodging enemies and collecting rings) doesn't work in 3D. Traditional Sonic formula belongs in 2D like most of Generations and Colors and Sonic 4. Stuff like Lost World and Unleashed don't work well.

I've been hoping for a new approach to 3D Sonic games for years. Hopefully Big Red Button steps up and delivers a game that uses the strength of Sonic's character in a new direction.

Re: This 'Provisional' Mario Kart 8 Box Art May Get You Into Gear

bizcuthammer

I like it, but i dont really care if they change it come May. I just want to play the game with friends and family, and i'm tired of waiting so long in between game releases for new WiiU games. DKCTF hits in a couple weeks, and it'll be the first new WiiU game in three months. With nothing currently scheduled for WiiU in March or April, looks like it'll be another three months til Mario Kart 8. WiiU cant survive like that. It needs more games at a quicker pace. At this rate, WiiU will have 4 games per year. Not exactly a number that'll have the masses plopping down $300 anytime soon.

Re: Big Red Button's Bob Rafei Spills More Details On Sonic Boom For Wii U And 3DS

bizcuthammer

The character designs arent bad, guys... They're just different. They remind me of Jak and Daxter type characters, which i loved those games on PS2. Since Naughty Dog wont make new Jak games, and Sega sucks at making Sonic games, why not have former ND guys make a Sonic game?

Lost World was a mess. Terribly designed and awful controls from the first level to the last one. It's the worst Sonic game i've played since the 'reboot' Sonic the Hedgehog in 2006. I really hope Big Red Button makes a great game that shows Sega how to do 3D Sonic right.

Re: A Sonic Boom Game is Dashing Towards Wii U and 3DS

bizcuthammer

Sonic is probably my favorite video game character ever. That said, his games since the start of this century have been mediocre at best. I have Lost World and consider it to be subpar.

Aside from how they've designed Knuckles, this looks exciting. As a lifelong Sonic fan though, i've learned to HEAVILY temper my expectations. Until i see more and read reviews once it's out, i wont let myself believe that Sonic is back to form.

Re: Wind Waker HD Wii U Bundle With Two Extra Games On Sale for $269.99

bizcuthammer

For those of you that like Nintendo games and don't own a WiiU yet, this is a great deal. 3 games, a 32GB WiiU and a digital copy of Hyrule Historia for $270? Thats a good deal. I'd do it if i didnt already have a WiiU and two of those games. Wind Waker HD is a better version of the GCN game, which is one of the highest praised games of that era, and W101 is a very creative, challenging game that while imperfect, is still very fun to play. If you arent strapped for cash and dont yet have a WiiU, i highly doubt you'll get a better deal than this anytime soon.

Re: Nintendo Planning to Offer "Flexible Price Points" for Games

bizcuthammer

I just want them to lower the prices of their games after a certain period of time has passed... Sony's first party games get prices reduced like that, like Uncharted and Infamous, while Walmart and Gamestop are still selling Mario Kart Wii and Kirby's Epic Yarn for $50 a pop. Those came out years ago, and are no longer worth that price when there are better, more recent games that are cheaper than they are.

Re: Talking Point: Is There A Future For The Wii U Without The GamePad?

bizcuthammer

@InfernoUprising In what sense is WiiU beating PS4? In lifetime sales?! PS4 has sold over 4.2mil in just over 3 months. WiiU has sold 5.5mil in over a year. PS4 is set to pass WiiU's lifetime sales in March, just 5 months after release, compared to WiiU's almost year and a half lifespan at that point. In absolutely no way is WiiU beating PS4. Stop being a fanboy and look at the facts. I love Nintendo and all, but WiiU is a failure that Nintendo will be lucky to break even on. PS4 is everything developers and the majority of gamers were asking for... WiiU is not. Dont believe me? Fine. Thats up to you, but the hard evidence supports my claims.

Re: Talking Point: Is There A Future For The Wii U Without The GamePad?

bizcuthammer

No, getting rid of the GamePad won't help WiiU at all. Because the GamePad isnt the problem with WiiU, it is just one of them. And honestly, it wouldnt be a problem if it were actually being used for something other than a way to play off tv. If there were games other than mini game compilations that actually used its features in non-gimmicky ways, the GamePad would be awesome. But there arent any of those, are there?

The GamePad is barely used in games like Super Mario 3D World, New Super Mario Bros U, Pikmin 3 and just about every 3rd party game on WiiU. It is not going to be used at all in DKCTF other than as an off tv screen. The game that best utilized the GamePad was ZombiU, which wasnt even made by Nintendo. It has untapped potential, but Nintendo apparantly doesnt know how to use it.

But the WiiU's failures are in its hardware and in the decisions Nintendo made when designing it. As Iwata has said, he misread the market. Nintendo has no clue what gamers want in terms of hardware anymore, and WiiU is a prime example of that. The same can be said of their relationship with 3rd parties. 3rd party games like Call of Duty, GTA, Destiny, Battlefield, Assassin's Creed, and The Walking Dead are more popular with gamers now than any of Nintendo or Sony or Microsoft's first party games. We can dislike that however much we want, but it doesnt change the market. If Nintendo's home consoles are going to success in the future, they need to make hardware that supports third party gamed. This means dev-friendly hardware with high RAM and specs on the level of its competition. Sony made these changes from PS3 to PS4, and that seems to have benefited them greatly in that PS4 is outselling XBO and is set to outsell WiiU's lifetime sales by Springtime. If Nintendo can recover and better understand its most important demographic (western gamers), then i believe they can succeed.

Re: Guest Blog: Shut up! Nothing is Wrong With The Nintendo Wii U!

bizcuthammer

While i agree that going mobile and abandoning hardware are the wrong answers, this article is not the right one either. As much as i love indie games like SteamWorld Dig, Mutant Mudds and Shantae, they are absolutely NOT a substitute for AAA games from companies like Ubisoft, EA, or Square-Enix.

Every gamer i know is buying an xbox one or PS4, but not a WiiU, because of three reasons they cite to me:
1 - Nintendo's online services blow compared to xbox live and PSN. Miiverse is a joke compared to what Sony/MS offer.
2 - AAA third party games. XBO/PS4 have em, WiiU doesnt.
3 - PS4 and XBO have better hardware. Not just in terms of graphical output, but controllers as well. ALL of my gamer friends prefer traditional controllers to the GamePad and definitely over the Wiimote.

Nintendo is already doing a great job of appealing to indie developers, but those games do NOT move consoles off shelves. They only supplement digital libraries that also include great, AAA experiences. People buy consoles for stuff like Call of Duty, Destiny, Halo, Zelda, Smash Bros, and Assassin's Creed.

I know lots of people that love Shantae and SteamWorld Dig, me being one of them. But no way would i have bought my 3DS just to play those games. I bought my 3DS to play the AAA first party and occasional AAA third party games for it like Mario, Kid Icarus, Pokemon and Monster Hunter. Home consoles are a different beast in that first party content alone wont sell them. Third party support is needed.

I love indie games, i really do, but Nintendo absolutely needs to appeal to AAA third party developers more. Its too late to do that for WiiU, but its a must for their next console. Leaving AAA third parties out of the picture in favor of indie devs will doom Nintendo. It already is starting to. They have to appeal to ALL developers to become relevant again.
