Re: Soapbox: Super Metroid Showed Me I Had The Right To Exist

@Dr_Lugae I can see it being more of a problem in the early 90s, and I don't disagree with that. Especially, with how Japanese games handled and still often continue to handle female characters. And western games did it too. I'm talking about how today, I think we are really in a better place with this and as long as female leads are treated like it's not a big deal that they are female, it is proven to be received well. Regardless, of if it is a big deal historically. It's good to recognize that. But it can detract from it to continually force recognition of it within its own game. At some point, if you want to normalize different forms of diversity, you should probably act like it's normal.

I think most male gamers today accept female heroines when they are treated like it isn't a big deal. It's when they have to rub it in and constantly remind you throughout the game that "hey look, I'm a girl doing guy stuff! We are just as strong!" Where it gets annoying and is desperately pathetic sounding. But there are many great female lead games that don't: Metroid series (I'm pretending Other M story doesn't exist), Tomb Raider Reboot trilogy, Beyond Good & Evil, Perfect Dark, Horizon series, Hellblade. These are superb games, because they just act real and aren't reminding you they are women constantly. These are all well received generally, and show that if you write good stories, design great gameplay, and don't obnoxiously rub it in, most gamers don't care what gender/race/orientation the protagonist is.

Re: Talking Point: With Sony And Microsoft In Next-Gen Limbo, E3 Is Nintendo's For The Taking

@Crockin I think it's pretty safe to say BoTW2 was delayed. Pre-COVID, it was accepted by general gaming industry that it could possibly launch fall 2020 and 2021 at most. I'm skeptical because all the gaming companies are doing the same thing. Everything is delayed out a year or 2 due to the pandemic, or at least taking advantage of that as the excuse. I'm sure they'll be games announced and we will get something this fall. But I have a feeling it'll be a similar looking fall as last year for Nintendo, without any of the super big hitters. They'll probably hold them back for Switch Pro anyways.

Re: Video: Check Out This Side-By-Side Comparison Of Apex Legends Running On Switch And PS4 Pro

Undocked is practically unplayable, you really can't see much. They should've done a more cell-shaded effect compromise instead of just blurring everything, so you could actually see players moving further away than 10 ft... Another thing that makes absolutely zero sense is how they did gyro aiming. Why on earth did they do clockwise-counterclockwise tilt for horizontal?!?!?! It's like the dumbest gyro idea I've ever seen. All the other shooters I've played on switch would do left-right tilting for horizontal. Push Button ported Doom and the gyro on that game is perfect. Why they wouldn't replicate that on this is just beyond me... Very disappointed in this port...

Re: Video: Nintendo Shares Beginner's Tips For Apex Legends, Out Today On Switch

@Mr-Fuggles777 Dude, where have you been the last 4 years? The Switch is almost half as powerful as the original Xbox One. What do you expect? This is a large map, battle royale game with 60 players. And it runs 720p docked, but runs just under at 576p on a 6.2 inch(or smaller on lite) screen. The less graphically intensive Fortnite runs 30fps at as low as 432p. Obviously, the game will run better on a beefy console vs a handheld device lol! If you turn off cross-play, this could still be an enjoyable game for people at 30fps. I don't think people are planning to play the Switch version with a very serious emphasis on competition.

Re: Wonderful 101 Kickstarter Backers Hit With Customs Charges And Handling Fees

Trmn8r

Yeah Kickstarter is complete trash. They have absolutely zero protections for investors. They claim to have these policies that require the company deliver a product, but companies can just claim they are still developing it for years and years and take your money and run while Kickstarter does nothing but tell you to contact them even after you tell them they aren't responding. It's a total joke of a system that people can just exploit to steal your money. Yes, Platinum screwed up in this case, but Kickstarter will do nothing about all your complaints you send them. I purposely avoiding KS'ing this even though I was interested in getting this game again on Switch.

Re: Aspyr Rolls Out Fix For Cross-Play Loophole In Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy On Switch

@JayJ
Pot meet kettle. You use anecdotal evidence that the game was mostly purchased for SP then criticize the opposite based on the same reasoning? Him just calling you a kid was weak as well. But, you can't say yourself what it was bought for by everyone else based on your personal experience neither! Try not to contradict your main point in the same comment, might help you win debates easier. It's a silly, meaningless debate anyways. Like who cares really? Games should be reviewed as a complete product. You can disclaim in a review that SP is fine and as MP is a mess. If not, then do separate SP and MP reviews like some sites do with newer games. But for a game this old, that would be kind of dumb. The debate police has spoken.

Re: Video: Persona 5 Scramble Treated To Flashy New Trailer, Demo Arrives Next Month

Trmn8r

@Peterjr1 Once again, you completely ignore what I'm saying that I'm talking about the combat and start blabbing about the overworld that no one is talking about. Cool, I saw your video @1:03:00 and see that the overworld has instanced combat encounters. Way to choose an example with a smaller group of enemies, as if that means that the style of the combat isn't still the same. But keep obsessing over the overworld like you made this game and can't handle any criticism of it. Walking up and smacking weak, floaty groups of enemies up in the air for juggle combos is Musou. Here, I'll call it "Instanced Musou with a Traditional ARPG Overworld" there ;P
You obviously hate the word Musou because in reality it means "shitty game" lol! But, like I said before (if you ever actually read anything I said to you), you go enjoy it. I'll take a hard pass and call it for what it is.

Re: Video: Persona 5 Scramble Treated To Flashy New Trailer, Demo Arrives Next Month

Trmn8r

@Peterjr1 I didn't say overworld had them. I specifically said that people aren't talking about that. Try reading next time. Lol look @0:32 in the fking trailer! You don't see sh*t like that in Bayonetta and DMC. I beat both those games and saw nothing like that. At most you could juggle like 2-3 people tops and it wasn't just swarms of sh*t enemies that you do these global swipes to. You look @0:32 which is gameplay and it looks exactly like every other Dynasty-esque game.

Re: 64 Games Are Currently Available For Less Than $1 On The Nintendo Switch eShop

Trmn8r

On the contrary, I think a lot of these games are coming out with bogus-ly high prices for the quality of the game. So, many of them I'm not feeling bad about them having to heavily discount their mediocre game. I actually think a lot of devs have caught on to the fact that when you heavily discount your game, you are more highlighted in the eShop. I'd be willing to bet a lot of them purposefully release their game at a higher price then discount to the actual value to attract more "bargain bin" shoppers. The other examples are the ones that literally release "discounted" and stay that way. Which I think is a joke and shouldn't be allowed. You shouldn't be able to remain discounted without actually being listed at full price. I get it for pre-order incentive, but after that, no.
