We're fans of DuckTales: Remastered here at Nintendo Life, especially those of us old enough to have first-hand nostalgia for the NES original. Despite its strengths it isn't quite perfect, including the odd technical issue that'll require an update to patch over the cracks.
In the case of the Wii U version there are issues with the leaderboards, while community members have cited end-game freezes among others; Capcom Unity staffer JimmyRey has therefore confirmed that a patch is in the works. This update was actually given a week ago, which means the patching process will have hopefully made some progress.
I apologize for any inconvenience any of the issues you've run into might cause you. Unfortunately, QA is not an exact science. Having shipped many titles, I can tell you that there are some issues can only manifest themselves when being released out to the wild and you'll never see in QA, like the Wii U leaderboard issue. Some issues occur very rarely and we may see once or twice during QA, but never have reliable steps to recreate and fix the issues, but when you have exponentially more users looking at it, a rare issue will sometimes appear with more frequency.
There are no timelines as yet, only that all SKUs are being targeted for updates. Have you encountered any issues with DuckTales: Remastered?
Thanks to Ryan Millar for the tip.

Still on the fence about buying this. One of the few NES games I never got to play and so I won't have the nostalgia glasses needed to ignore some of the games (apartantly) big flaws...
I never played it before on NES (nor watched the show) either and It's magnificent. Controls are perfect and I never had problems with the pogo or level design. I have encountered some bugs though, including the leaderboard one and a boss that just didn't appear, I had to reset after standing around waiting. The leaderboards in this game are pretty pointless anyway, total playtime and how many times you've beaten it? Out of all WayForward's games, this is the least necessary one for a leaderboard, not that I'm complaining. I guess a budget really does help with features like this.
I just beat it tonight for the second time! Great game so much nostalgia
Just yesterday i had an audio issue that forced me to turn off the console.I talked about it on Miiverse.
It's a great game, no doubt. Only issue I've had is that some of the speech is very quiet compared to the rest of the sound / music.
The third leader board freezes my Wii U every time I try to look at it, with out fail. Apart from that, in-game, I've only encountered the odd sound glitch.
Question:
If you could only get two games out of DuckTales, Little Inferno and Trine 2. What would you go for? (Bear in mind that Trine 2 is discounted on the eShop right now from £13.99 to £5 somthing).
Thanks in advance..
Trine 2, this is like a retail video game
Love the game, but yeah, I get audio glitches. Usually they are audio based with looping of some kind like a measure of music or a syllable of a single line of dialogue. Oddly enough, it seems to happen more if I'm using the Wii U Gamepad and a lot less frequently (if ever) if I'm using the Wii U Pro Controller.
@Cosats So Trine 2 and....?
It's a good game for £11.99. It will last you between 1/3 and 1/4 of a retail game between £35-£45.
My only gripe is lack of Wii Remote as controller. I hope the patch can bring that.
I hope they fix the somewhat unresponsive controls, sometimes the pogo simply doesnt work. Also, when using a pro controller, Scrooge wont move right if using the analogue stick. Ive tried it many times but no good, he moves in all other directions fine though. Odd.....
I wonder if they'll "edit" some of the leaders. The guy who has clocked in the most time playing has pretty clearly just left his system on. Last I checked his time spent playing was 137 hours and the next closest person was in the 40's.
@manpretty
Your profile pic is awesome. Just sayin'.
@cohort
It is just a matter of taste. I would pick ducktales but both (trine and dt) are good games. Little inferno is odd and short but is interesting. The only one i dont have is Trine because i found the demo boring, but the game is beautiful
About the article i have found no glitches at all, probably because i always play it offline. I have played through it twice now.
Havnt had any problems.
@sinalefa I was thinking DuckTales.... Wiiiii U! (sorry) and Trine 2, (£5 for Trine 2 seems too good to pass up). I've heard some great things about Little Inferno though, weird but enjoyable.
I have never accessed the online leaderboards in this game. However, I have encountered some audio glitches in the Wii U version.
@bezerker99 That's exactly what happened to me,except in another level
I love this game. When playing on the gamepad theres some wierd pixelization that goes on at times with the character designs. An occassional hiccup with pogo fails. I can live with all of it tho for only 15. Havent gone on leaderboard as its not my thing.
I do miss the beautiful spritework Of the original tho.
@Cohort trine 2 is amazing. The physics are a tad floaty tho and im not sure if they were addressed in the update or if the updatd was even released.
The only glitch that has happened to me, was when I tried to exit Transylvania from the pause menu. The game went to a black screen with no sound and I wasn't able to do anything. I ended up having to unplug the Wii U. But that only happened once. I have now played through the entire game and I'm on the last level and can happily say that nothing else has glitched. I can also say that having loved the original game as a kid, I had very high expectations of this game, and Wayforward has done an absolutely wonderful job of remastering it. I would even say that it is even better than the original. Thank you so much Capcom, Disney, and Wayforward for making this remaster happen!!
It just went to a black screen before the boss in Transvania but I could home menu close the game.
What a joke! The Pro Controllers left analogue does not work! How can you miss that? The whole WiiU experience is starting to feel like a family camping trip from hell. My WiiU is for sale, I am done!
this game is killing me . my game bugged after mines level boss during the save . then 1week after i tried again on amazon level . and the same thing happen the game froze during save after killing amazon boss. so i hope this help . i really want to finish that game .
I think thay've done an excellent job with this game, the PS3 version i've not come across a single bug, i had this on pre order thats why i got it on the PS3.
@Bengals76 , lol ok bro. you know midol helps with menstrual symptoms.
@Cohort
I got Little Inferno on a sale, I enjoyed my time with that. Again, your three games are pretty good, with Ducktales being my favorite.
And that pun actually fits
@sinalefa Thanks for acknowledging the pun
I can only get two of those threes games right now though
@Bengals76 yeah the pro controller stick thing is a real bugger, i cant believe they missed something like that!
I had two problems: I found it hard to start and maintain a pogo in certain situations. Also, I had the repeating audio issue twice during my first play-through. Had to quit to Wii U Menu to fix it.
I've never been able to check the leaderboards without it crashing the system eventually. Obviously this patch is a must. I hope the add in Wii remote support too.
