Re: Here's How Sonic 3's New Music In Sonic Origins Stacks Up To The Classics

Takoda

@ShadowSniper7
They’re not necessarily bad tracks (though I do agree on the carnival statement) but I just don’t like any of the new ones I heard in the gamexplain comparison. I never loved the originals but at least I liked most of those… it’s just weird for me to feel all negative on music so I’ll see if I change my mind when I’m actually playing the game with it in the background.

Re: Video: We Haven't Had A Nintendo Direct Yet, But That's Fine

Takoda

I think it's about time for a direct, but at the same time, you won't see me complaining. My backlog is huuuuuge and I'll finally have time to give it some love, and Xenoblade 3 is totally my thing, so I'm good for now. The issue for me is that I only see potential spoilers in a Xenoblade3 direct so I'm not much a fan of that. : P Would've preferred a regular direct, like most people probably.

Re: Video: We're Confused About Sonic Frontiers

Takoda

I’m still looking forward to it, but can’t deny how mishandled the ‘trailers’ were and the dev response to them seemed to ‘not understand’ why those trailers just weren’t a good showing of what their game is supposed to be about.

Still excited, but within reasonable degree until I can get a better idea what exactly this game is going for in the bigger picture.

Re: Takashi Iizuka: Sonic Frontiers Is Sonic's "Next Step For The Next 10 Years"

Takoda

@RubyCarbuncle
No reason not to be positive with so many wildly differing opinions and footage going around. Some love what they’re seeing, some despise it, what else is new here? Same with pokemon, the complaints are valid but legends arceus has restored my hope quite successfully for the future. This looks promising too, why not give it a chance before flaming it into oblivion?

Re: Takashi Iizuka: Sonic Frontiers Is Sonic's "Next Step For The Next 10 Years"

Takoda

@AtlanteanMan
A lot of valid questions and thoughts that can be summarised in: we’ll see how it does. Besides, with Sega going forward with splitting Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic as two different gameplay styles, I think this would be the style they think modern sonic should go in, and classic can still do his own thing.
The boost gameplay was around for ages, I think it’s alright that they’re trying something different and hoping for it to pop off. If it doesn’t, they can rewrite their course. One statement doesn’t put an entire plan in stone.

I’ll give you one thing, SEGA does make a lot of weird decsions with Sonic, but a little overdramatic imo. Interesting read nevertheless, you could put this on an anti-sonic frontiers rebellion page and it’d look fitting.

Re: Takashi Iizuka: Sonic Frontiers Is Sonic's "Next Step For The Next 10 Years"

Takoda

A lot of commotion for nothing right now, if you ask me. I’ll just wait out the release of the game before I put any of this into perspective. I for one am glad they’re mixing it up at all, the boost formula just really wasn’t doing much for me anymore and the level design got worse and worse, so maybe a new focus leads to something better. We’ll see how it ends up going.

Re: Feature: A Pokémon Retrospective: Generation 8 – 2019 To 2022

Takoda

Sword and shield was alright. It got a lot of hate but as always I find myself enjoying that more than hating along with everyone else. The youtube content that comes out of it is just too fun to watch to mind, hehe. Besides, the games were fun, though rather bland and boring.
Skipped the BDSP remakes, atrocious excuses for remakes, especially compared to the platinum version all the way back on the DS. For those that haven’t played those Ds titles though, probably more than fine so I’m glad people get to enjoy Diamond and pearl that way.
Legends Arceus somehow had me putting hours upon hours into the game, in a way no pokemon game ever has before, catching them all for the very first time. I love that game and though I see a lot of room for improvement, that just has me hopeful for the future of pokemon for the first time in a looong while.
I also somehow got stuck into the trading card game and enjoying that a lot.
Yep, hopefully good times ahead for pokemon, no matter what anyone else might say. I guess I am totally a part of the problem, but hey, feels like half the world is part of it so I don’t mind rolling along if I get fun, comfortable gaming experiences : P
As someone above me mentioned, pokémon kind of feels like comfort food.

Re: Random: Junji Ito Meets Zelda In These Renders Of Ocarina Of Time's Scariest Monsters

Takoda

@blindsquarel
I share this opinion because it was my first zelda game and the only one that I wasn’t totally spoiled for besides BOTW, so the experience was nice and fresh. I had no idea there was gonna be some weird puppet that suddenly screams at me o-o
With the redeads in other games I was kind of like ‘ah yeah, you.’ I guess when you know what’s coming there’s not much left to scare you-

Re: Sega Confirms Sonic Frontiers Won't Be Delayed, Says Fans "Don't Understand" It

Takoda

Honestly, glad they're sticking to their guns. Fan demand has been a big thorn in Sonic's side because of just how many different game styles he's been toying around with. If they feel confident in this one, better they stick with it and give it the best they got than try and take all the backlash into account with how different people ask for different things in a Sonic game.

That said, if their confidence ends up giving us a game as underwhelming as Forces or Lost world, then I have no idea anymore. xD

Re: Nintendo's 'Super Sale' Slashes The Price Of Over 1500 Games (Europe)

Takoda

@Fizza
I have honestly been contemplating buying it for the single player stuff since it just seems so solid, but since that’s the only part that has my interest I find the price a bit steep even on sale.. Wish I could just buy octo-expansion by itself even if that makes no sense, haha. I’ll probably wait for splatoon 3 for the multiplayer if I’m feeling like it.

Re: Hands On: Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes Is Shaping Up To Be A Belter

Takoda

@BrianJL
I really loved how movement and combat seemed to flow seamlessly in AoC. Like Link shield surfing hurt enemies, but also made it so I could move at the same time. Feels like I was always stuck in this 'stop-and-go' in other musou games... but again, I feel like it has to be more than that so I have no idea haha. Maybe it's indeed what makes it different from the others that works for me, and why the older ones don't grab me as much. I'm gonna try the demo for this one today, we'll see how it goes. Hope we both get our kind of musou to enjoy!

Re: Hands On: Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes Is Shaping Up To Be A Belter

Takoda

Besides having to look up what belter means, (you learn something new every day) I really can never tell from reviews or first impressions with musou games if I will like them. I loved Age of Calamity so much that I went to try out more musous to see if that would click now, but nope, the ones I disliked before still suck for me. So it comes down to something in the fluidity, how the gameplay ‘feels’ and I hope a demo can enlighten me a bit on that.

Oh, and a halfway decent story, no matter how ridiculous, helps too.

Re: Review: Mario Strikers: Battle League - Simply The Best Sports Game On Switch

Takoda

Always find it hard to justify a purchase like this, because the gameplay is fun but I'm more so interested in the local multiplayer part than any of the online stuff. With my buds being quite a bit less good at gaming than me, I always have to wonder 'Okay, is this something they'll grasp and we'll be able to have fun with or will it be too complex and I'll just steamroll them all the time?' I'm glad to hear it plays as well as it looks, at least!

Re: Relax, The Sonic Frontiers Preview Footage Is From An "Early Build"

Takoda

This both makes me happy but also makes me question what the heck they were thinking. The fact there was so much discussion over how rough it looked just proves that showing off the game with this early build stuff without making it extra clear was just… a big oof. Let’s hope they got something better to show in the current build trailer soon.

Re: Hands On: Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Is Looking Like A Mighty Meaty Hunk Of DLC

Takoda

Rise is the only monster hunter game I could get into. I tried MH4U, 3U, generations… they all just felt too slow for me, I guess. The repetition is what killed it for me most of all, I’d get sick of hunting the same thing again and again when nothing around the encounter changes at all. With the older ones being kind of clunky to boot, I’d written the series off… but Rise fixed most of what I couldn’t stand in the older games. I’m now more open to giving 4U and generations a go again too. I’ll definitely pick up the dlc to get some more fun out of this one.

Re: Feature: The Saddest Games On Switch - Games To Make You Cry

Takoda

Played Edith Finch, honestly didn't get what the review was all about, I felt nearly nothing throughout that whole thing and when it ended I was just confused why this was supposed to be emotional. Child of light, same thing. Now To the moon and Ori got me good, especially Ori had me tearing up five minutes after the game started. Love that game and its sequel even if that one didn't get me that emotional a second time.

As for the zelda games... eh? Link's awakening, sad? I found the plot twist more interesting than saddening. Sure, the implications are a bit sad, but the game just shrugs it off and trudges on. Majora's mask lost any chance at impact with how the internet spoiled it completely for me when I was younger.

Re: Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Releases 18th November

Takoda

My hype didn’t soar, but it also didn’t plummet. I actually like all the new designs pretty much and it at least doesn’t seem like a step down from Legends Arceus. Remains to be seen if the ‘throwing pokeballs’ mechanic for wild pokemon returns, but I really hope it does. I’ll be going scarlet, quite like the look of the legendary and feel nothing towards violet.

Re: Dark Dungeon-Crawler 'Mistover' Being Removed From Sale At End Of June

Takoda

@Shambo Labyrinth of Refrain is one I'd maybe give a try if I didn't have some Etrian and Etrian-likes still left in my backlog, haha. I'm a big fan of the series but I've got quite a few left to play. Didn't Atlus tease a new Etrian Odyssey game being in the works a long while back?? Hopefully it'll see the light of day soon, it's been too long.
