One part of the new Pokémon Scarlet and Violet trailer that seems to have everyone talking is the reveal of the new hog Pokémon Lechonk. Forget about the new professors and legendaries, this new pig-like creature is the real star of the show... according to social media and certain other parts of the internet.
Trainers around the globe are already comparing it to the pig from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, some are holding up signs at wrestling events for it, and you've even got popular games like Among Us praising it. Here's a round-up of all things Lechonk (via social media). Enjoy!

The design is cute, if not a bit basic, but the name is absolute perfection!
Lechonk is already the best Pokemon of this new generation. I don't care what else they show, nothing will top this magnificent creature.

There’s a leak going around that if Lechonk levels up while holding Charcoal and you have an Applin in your party that holds a Toffee Apple, Lechonk will evolve into Lechonk-on-a-spit (and Applin will merge with it a la Calyrex).

Proof people love memes and being able to be included in SOMETHING, regardless what it is. Say chonk and someone giggles, you're in. Then again they haven't really tried to make anything cool in generations. Pretty sure they pull words out of one hat and animals out of another, combine them and say +1!

The Lechonk love is so horribly forced. There's nothing special about the generic pig.

i didn't know "chonk" was supposed to be an epic meme word until reading the needlessly sour comments above me, i just thought it was a cute pig (like tepig, who is horribly underloved, or the aforementioned p-chan)

On topic, I wonder i Game Freak ever have the English name in mind. Old interviews indicate that they don't, but I wouldn't fault Tree House for seeing the opportunity and grabbing it with both hands.
Im much more interested in it's design than it's name. Yeah, I'm one of those "I liked gen 1 designs better". This is the peak simplicity I need: no unnecessary colors, no unnecessary fur spikes. Just like Smolive, it reminds me of gen 1 designs

Joking aside, I absolutely adore this little dude. Like Wooloo, it's an extremely simple design but with so many little complexities to it that it fits right into Pokemon (such as the name: Lechon is Spanish for little piglet, along with a ham dish, and you combine it with chonk to get perfection). When I get one in SV, I'm definitely naming it Napoleon. For.... reasons.
Also, this is one of the best pre-release screenshots Pokemon have ever made.

Lechonk isn't my favorite Pokemon ever, but its design is simple yet effective.

If it weren’t for the name, I think the piggie would get a lot less attention, but I don’t think the design is all that bad. Cute piggie, I find the name funny, that’s about it.

Well they gave us Pokemon Yellow after Pickachu's popularity so I am hoping for a Pokemon uhhh... Gamma? I don't know, but with Lechonk as the starter.

@Olmectron it’s a mix of that and the work ‘chunk’ because he is a chunky pig. It also plays into the word “chonk” which is kind of ‘adorable chunky’.
I mean gen one literally had a seal Pokemon called ‘Seel’. And it evolved into ’Dewgong’ which is the name of another marine animal misspelled. This is at least a portmanteau and a pun.

Its name had a different effect on me since in the Philippines, where I'm from, "lechon" (or "litson") is the word for spit-roasted pig.
I might be a little biased because I have a pet pig that lives with me and my family in my house, but I love this guy too! I can see why he has won the internet's heart.

I have some experiences in drawing muscular anthro animals from my drawing projects so drawing Lechonk in muscular anthro version will be easy for me. 😎
Wait until I draw Lechonk with my version because I already did with Pikachu (my version with muscular version and handsome face but still in cute Chibi form). 🤭
