Re: Review: Zero Gunner 2 (Switch eShop)

It amazes me that even in 2018 that we still have reviews for shooters claiming that the length of the games are short (ie:30 minutes, etc.). These games are meant for 1-credit completions and high score gathering, not credit feeding, mindless action.

With that being said, I'm not sure if I'm buying this one based on the port issues. On one hand, I've never played the original but on the other hand, I don't want some abomination of the original game. I'll be picking up Strikers tomorrow though, for sure. I was excited for this until I heard about the port issues.

Re: Review: Pokémon Picross (3DS eShop)

Steveovig

I love me some Picross, and it's one of my favorite game series of all-time but this might not be my cup of tea. I would jump all over this if it were set up like Stretchmo, with a flat fee to unlock everything but I don't like this set-up at all.

Re: Nicalis Boss Tyrone Rodriguez Thinks The Wii U GamePad Is "A Waste Of Time And Resources"

Steveovig

I agree. It's been a waste of time and money. The Gamepad has a terrible range, for one thing, and that should've been the first warning sign for Nintendo to know that it wasn't a good idea. They were too fixated on replicating the success of the Wii with another gimmick. They lost sight of the fact that all the casuals left. The Gamepad ramped up production costs and the consumer cost and the Wii-U can't be given away these days. The PS4 sold more units in 3 months than the Wii-U did in over a year. That's a sign that Nintendo is way out of focus. No one wanted a $300 under-powered machine with a dumb gimmick that doesn't function well.

Re: Nintendo Download: 6th February (North America)

Steveovig

That Percy game looks like a PS1 game. I can't believe some of you are talking about buying it. Are you that starved for Wii-U games? As for the VC this week, it's terrible. They've got at least 6 different GB/GBC games waiting for release and they choose to release nothing. I don't even feel like complaining anymore, as it's getting old and it does no good.

Re: We Cannot Continue Without Winning, But It's Not As Simple As Moving Mario To Smartphones, Insists Iwata

Steveovig

This is either going to change Nintendo forever, for the good or the bad. No matter what, it's all on Iwata. He's the guy that is running Nintendo into the ground right now. He's the guy that botched two straight product launches and continues to be behind in the times. The Gamepad was a stupid idea, plain and simple. It's too expensive, has little range, and is running on old tech. Who would buy this, other than Nintendo die-hards such as us? No one. His passive attitude is going to destroy this company forever. This article sounds like Nintendo is headed straight down the tubes. Are they just going to adapt a model for smartphones or something, making F2P crap and ditching the home console and handheld market?

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Ambitious Sales Targets Require Runaway Holiday Success

Steveovig

Well, I disagree. I think Nintendo is so far behind the times on what gamers want that they are in way too deep. Think about it, if you want a current gen console and you're choosing between the Wii-U and the PS3, you'd be stupid not to choose the PS3. Sure, the U would have the exclusive 1st party stuff but it totally lacks 3rd party support and features of the PS3. It's like selling an inferior product right next to a superior product with a better library. The PS4 and Xbox probably won't sell like gangbusters but this holiday will easily be better for them than the Wii-U was last year. It'll be hard to get a PS4 this year I bet. However, I remember being able to find a U quite easily last year without a reservation.

Re: Ubisoft CEO Admits ZombiU Sales Were Disappointing, No Plans For Sequel

Steveovig

Mattrick would have probably made some better decisions than Iwata has made over the last two years, despite whatever salary he would request. He probably knows what sells more in the industry over Iwata too. What part of failure don't you understand as far as Iwata goes with the Wii-U? The thing isn't selling at all and third party games do terrible. Even with a price drop and good games looming, it's still no guarantee this thing will turn around good enough to make this thing break even. That makes Iwata a bad CEO, coupled with his mistakes at the launch of the 3DS.

Re: Ubisoft CEO Admits ZombiU Sales Were Disappointing, No Plans For Sequel

Steveovig

I think part of the problem was the idiotic reviews that the game got. Not everything has to be COD meets zombies for it to be good. Zombi-U is probably the best zombie shooter out there, imo, but half the reviewers were idiots when they played it. Still, the Wii-U is obviously in MAJOR trouble if this thing didn't do well. Third parties will be nonexistent soon on the console if things don't start picking up. Even if the console does start selling, it's no guarantee third party games will sell along with it. With that being said, Iwata needs to go and Nintendo needs someone aggressive with a clear plan at the helm.

Re: Wii U Version Of Beyond Good & Evil 2 Looking Unlikely

Steveovig

The U is only next-gen for PR purposes. From a tech perspective, it's nowhere near the PS4 or XBone, so that makes it current gen or its own gen. Nintendo really messed up by sticking with this idiotic Gamepad idea and not focusing on just releasing a higher tech console. Now, they're stuck with supporting this console that no one cares about right now.

Re: Miyamoto Focuses on New Gameplay Experiences Before New IPs

Steveovig

This is where one of NIntendo's problems lie. They barely did any core new IPs for the Wii and so far, they're continuing that trend for the Wii-U. If they want people to stop criticizing them about "recycled" ideas, etc. they need some new stuff. Heck, they could even bring back Eternal Darkness or do a new Kid Icarus or something besides the usual series'.

Re: Frog Suit Confirmed For Super Mario 3D World

Steveovig

I like the return of the Frog Suit but I'd kill for the return of the boot thingy from Mario 3. By far, my favorite power-up ever in a Mario game even though it was barely used. There's something cute and charming about it that I love.

Re: Pac-Man Museum Announced For Wii U And 3DS eShops

Steveovig

CE DX better be on this. It'd be nice if it literally had every Pac-Man game ever made on it/available but I'm not holding my breath. Namco never seems to utilize their entire library. I'm sick of playing the OG Pac-Man. Also, I hope these have leaderboards. I'd get Pac-Mania for that.
