Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Biggest E3 Challenge is Getting Noticed

Steveovig

Sony is killing it this year and Nintendo needs to come out swinging. It's make or break time for this stupid console seeing as how the PS4 is getting major exclusives and everyone keeps ignoring the U. I'm getting fed up with this Nintendo management. They just sit around and smile and act like nothing is wrong, when they're getting passed over by the PS4 and everyone else. Why did they not go for a more powerful console this time? Why?

Re: Talking Point: The Wii U's Next-Gen Challenge Starts to Take Shape

Steveovig

I don't think Nintendo will be able to beat the PS4 but I think they can compete with the X-Box, after that abysmal reveal yesterday. As long as Sony does the exact opposite of Microsoft with the PS4, they'll be fine as the leader. Nintendo should focus on marketing the U as the only true gaming console and maybe they can take away some of the idiots who are actually on the fence about buying an X-Box.

I just can't believe Nintendo hasn't even thought about a platformer between these two. That should've been their first choice for a crossover. If NSMB sold really well then that seems like it would sell equally as nice or close. Who, growing up, wouldn't have loved a crossover game between the two biggest mascots in gaming history?

Re: Shigesato Itoi Says Mother 4 Would Be "Impossible"

Steveovig

@C-Olimar I don't know, I'm not holding my breath. It took them this long to get Mother 2 over here despite constant demand for it. It'd be really cool if they came over too. Wasn't Mother 1 already translated and ready for release back in the day?

Re: Wii U Virtual Console Launch Lineup Is Revealed

Steveovig

Yea, I thought it'd be cool if a game like F-Zero had online play. Sell it for a little more, take some more time to put it in there, and I think people would like it. It would take some effort but not nearly as much as a new game would so it should be easier to do.

Re: Talking Point: An Open Letter To Nintendo

Steveovig

It's not the third-party's faults, it's Nintendo's for not giving much confidence to them that their stuff would sell. They put out a trashy under-performing console at the end of a generation with a controller that can't be replaced easily. If you were a third-party publisher, would you put money into a game to port it to a new console if it's only going to sell a minimal amount of copies? That's what's happening with Black Ops II and I guarantee third-parties recognize that. I maintain that they should've dumped all the R&D money from the Gamepad and put it into making the console way more competitive with the PS4 and 720. Then, they would've at least gotten some next-gen multi-plat games. Now, they're in a lame duck position getting no games from third parties and they're going to struggle just to break even with this console. Blame Iwata for being inept and having no idea how to compete.

Re: Talking Point: An Open Letter To Nintendo

Steveovig

It's more like NOA needs to listen to its fans. Reggie has made so many blunders, it's hard to count them all. Him and Iwata have kinda sat on their hands with this launch. How can you screw up the 3DS launch and then proceed to do the same with the U? These days don't get anything and this is coming from a Nintendo fan.

Re: Saints Row 4 is Skipping Wii U

Steveovig

It ain't about the launch with me though. The writing is on the wall for third-parties. They're backing away now and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that come the holidays, they still won't be here. Everyone is now developing for the PS4 and the next X-box and they're passing up everything else. Yet, here's Nintendo with this archaic console that appeals to zero publishers. It worked with the Wii (it being under powered) but with the U it isn't working. If the U were more comparable to the PS4, we'd be guaranteed more games in the future.

Why should I sell it? I know Nintendo will develop great first-party games. If I sell the U, I won't get anywhere what I paid for it. There's nothing wrong with wanting more though and not wishing to sit back and settle.

Re: Saints Row 4 is Skipping Wii U

Steveovig

Well, I'm sure glad it's got a great browser, in that case. What a reason to buy it over the PS3 or 360.

The Gamepad is a hunk of junk with no real uses that seperate it from the other two consoles. It's a giant gimmick and a waste of resources. I just don't get it, don't you want to play as many games as you can on your U? Do you actually want to settle for less? I'm not trying to start a war but to say I've been underwhelmed and disappointed by Nintendo since June is an understatement.

Re: Saints Row 4 is Skipping Wii U

Steveovig

Lol, we should just accept that we'll never get the games that Sony and Microsoft consoles get. That's a good one.

The Gamepad was a dumb idea, point blank. Nintendo will never grow if they don't start appealing to other gamers besides Nintendo fans. If Nintendo had not wasted their time developing idiotic gimmick technology like the Gamepad and instead focused on a normal, more powerful console they would be getting next-gen games. They would not be out of the loop like they are right now. Nintendo is completely stuck in the stone-age with their thinking.

They've also been lazy with the release of the U, which probably hasn't had a good effect on third-party publishers bringing over their games.

Re: Saints Row 4 is Skipping Wii U

Steveovig

Tell me, where are these truly unique games at? Zombi-U is the only one that I can see. There's barely any games out there right now and not many coming in the next few months until the fall at least. Does it sound like Nintendo cares a lot about this console making it? You can only count on Nintendo consoles for one reason and that's Nintendo games, and I'm tired of that. I want more than just Nintendo games on my Nintendo console. I was counting on Nintendo to change things finally with the U and it's not going to happen. The U will get lost in the shuffle more at the end of the year and by 2014, it'll be business as usual with nothing but Nintendo games to play for the thing.

I'm as diehard a Nintendo fan as you can get but I can't sit back and calmly watch as Iwata and Reggie and other half-heartedly run Nintendo into the ground.

Re: Saints Row 4 is Skipping Wii U

Steveovig

Let's be honest, Nintendo should've said "forget the Gamepad" and focused all their money and resources into creating a more powerful console. Then maybe third parties would take the U way more serious. Right now, it's a lame duck and Nintendo doesn't even seem like they care about the thing themselves. The place needs restructured badly.

Re: Talking Point: Life Without Wii U Achievements

Steveovig

This article is a tad misleading. Nintendo has confirmed that some games have Accomplishments but they're not mandatory. Specifically Nintendoland and NSMBU. They just don't have a universal system for organizing every one over every game.
